My grandmother used to tell me stories about the Hart hotel back in the day when it was beautiful and everybody from every part of the world would come here. They had music and dancing and parties and beautiful guest rooms, it was a wonderful wonderful place. Good days gone by 😥

The building was purchased by the Chruch of Scientology in 2001. It is part of a program to relocate the Battle Creek Scientology church to a new bigger building.
These projects are slow because of how the church is run and fundraising issues. There is a rumor that they may be ready to pull permits soon to actually start work on it.

The Church of Scientology owns it now. Before that it was temporarily a halfway house for juvenile offenders. It used to have a high end women's clothing shop called "Bertines" on the far right front of the Hart Hotel. Also had a bar called the "Slanty Shanty" off of the North side parking lot.
Looked like they don't do anything inside of it anymore

When I was in elementary school my school used to have a Christmas party in the formal dinning room. This is sad.

That hotel had quite a reputation back in the day, alot of prostitution went on in that place. It was a beautiful place back in the olden days. It used to be a club called the Slanty Santy in the back, we used to party there in the mid 80s.

These are great Tim! You should do the old McKinley elementary school. That’s where I went for a while as a kid and it’s closed down now. I think it’s on capital avenue. There still is a partial playground there too! Hope you’re well! 👍🏼

Wow, honestly even though it’s sad to see places like this, sometimes you can’t help but be a bit fascinated by knowing the history and now seeing how it is.
Near me the only abandoned place that I see is a huge brewery, but it’s a lot more wrecked now because people just break the windows to get in.

These have been great Tim. I’m from Battle Creek and it’s pretty sad to see the state Battle Creek has become. Also, on your camera Lense turn on the auto focus. The last couple videos have been out of focus
