Life Lessons from Kayaking

  • I set out to spend the day sea kayaking and took the opportunity to unpack my goals for the past year and look ahead to the next year. But I learned so much more than I expected. With chilly temperatures and gusty winds, I set out to find a trip on Little Kennebec Bay in Roque Bluffs, Maine that might afford me some protection. This trip was not without its challenges.
I was surprised by the lessons that came out of the day, and I hope you enjoy this episode.

Great video! I love watching you paddle the Maine coastline. I hope I get there one day to try it. I moved to the Emerald Isle, NC area December 2022. I didn’t have much experience with coastal paddling. I go a fair amount with local friends. I do miss the mountains of Virginia though with the mountain streams and the snow. No snow so far here. Lol. I enjoy your constant goals of self improvement as a paddler. I’ve been paddling a long time myself and I’ve also set goals to see new things here and get better at what I do. Thank you for doing your videos and allowing us to follow along.

Very nice video and message - sometimes the obstacle is the way! You might like "The Daily Stoic" .....

Best episode yet-and I’m not just saying that because I got a call out. You’re really honing in on what works. You’re developing what we in the writing community call your unique voice. Which in this case means not just what you’re saying but how you show us what you mean. Fantastic editing too. Nice job. How about introducing some guest paddlers on your journeys. I think conversations with other paddlers would be interesting especially as we get more familiar with your point of view, having other voices to strengthen or broaden your own perspective would be fun to see. Great job.

Thank you! Things are getting clearer, and I'm figuring out how to capture and tell the story I want to share. Sounds like we should plan a paddle together somewhere cool! Know any good spots 😀?

Your channel just popped up in my feed. Nice videos! I paddle a couple of hundred km North and east of you, but, I think we know a lot of the same coaches, and probably share a few friends. That boat looks like it came from JC, purely based on the colours. lol!

Hi Bruce! I do think we have one degree of separation and know a lot of the same people. I've heard your name come up with paddling friends. I'm glad my channel came up in your feed, AND thanks for the kind words. The Aries may have come from John, I bought it used from a guy in RI. I love the sparkles, but it's really challenged my gel-coat repair skills. Let me know if you're ever in the area!

Cool video. I liked the drone shots. I am definitely planning a Maine kayak trip soon for my own youtube series. Having the right hat is important.

@@SeeSteveSeaKayak I am currently planning a trip to the Saco with a few friends, but I don't really count that. That whole river is a zoo. I have been scoping out some lakes with public access and a at least one island to camp on. If I didn't encounter another person, It would be great!

Great video, you clearly put. A lot of care into making your videos. Im passing through Maine in June on my way to Nova Scotia, drop me an email or message if you want to do a day paddle as I am passing through. I would love to get a locals view. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for you feedback and kind words. I’ve enjoyed the project and get a lot of joy out off telling these stories and sharing my experiences. Let’s try to connect when you’re up this way. My email is on my website if you want to share details on your planned timing.

You can make it all easier by not filming. Just paddle. My two cents.
