I was a teenager in SoCal when The Beach Boys were popular. I lived about 25 miles from the coast. You fill in the rest!!!! LOL! The best years of my life in the best place! Woe is Calif. today. It was a paradise on earth!
This song was actually released in 1963. Even though the Boys were still very young, they had captured that thick, beautiful harmony with Brian's arching falsettos.

I absolutely love music like this, anyone have any good rock recommendations? Its music like this that makes me happy, I wish I was around to see it for my self. You see, I'm 13 years of age, and I'm what you kids (yeah I'm talkin' to ya) would call an old soul or typically labeled as born in the wrong Generation which both are true, I dont think i was made for the 21st century, I was made for old times. I treasure music like this I truly do.
My recommendations, if I could pick 10 artists from the 50s and 60s, which is the greatest rock and roll of all time: First and Foremost, absolutely the 2 you Must listen to: 1.The King of Rock and Roll-Elvis Presley! 2.The Beatles, 3.Chuck Berry 4.Buddy Holly, 5.The Everly Brothers, 6.Ricky Nelson, 7.Bob Dylan, 8.Beach Boys, 9.Rolling Stones 10. Four Seasons.....enjoy listening to REAL music and not the noise they make these days. Remember Rock and Roll IS here to stay - it will NEVER die !!!
There are other great bands as well such as Queen, The Eagles, Kinks, Dave Clark five, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and The Shadows (instrumental). I must not forget Status Quo.
I was the same in the 80s. I always left the dial on the oldies station. I still listened to pop and loved hard rock, but you, me and many, many others enjoy this stuff cause it's timeless. When I was 18 in the late 80s a friend got me hooked on Genesis, but only the older stuff with Peter Gabriel. My ears have never been so happy. Thats my one recommendation. Stay on planet cool my friend.
@@a_dolls_purpose_a_dolls_pu526 Listen to their very first album. 'From Genesis to Revelations' or 'Rock Roots'. It's unlike anything they did later. You may enjoy it.
Catch a Wave by The Beach Boys because of the harp or harpsichord playing in the background plus Dennis on the cymbals with his drums. No matter how depressed I get those crescendo parts really pick up my spirits.
Thank you, 12mulligan, for some gorgeous, instructive, inspiring pics to go with the great, spirited words...and tune! And harmonies! Bless you a thousand times!
I recall the Beach Boy's sound taking a step up around the time of this song. It's much fuller sounding then most of their previously recorded songs. One explanation might be that they started to mike up Mike Love with a separate microphone, I suppose only Brian can explain what's behind the change.
Two corrections: "You paddle out, turn around and RACE"(not RAISE). And, after "take a lesson from a top notch surfer boy", it's "GET YOURSEL A BIG BOARD" (not "Every Saturday, boy") ,"but don't you treat it like a toy", so now it makes sense !!!
Blythe Be........"Get yourself a big board........" makes a lot more sense than "Every Saturday boy", but the exact lyric is hard to hear. Another clear error around 1:00: "......and ALL?? be surfin' soon....." Obviously, it should be, ".....and I'LL be surfin' soon....." 2-25-19

Bill Bielby.........One significant error in the lyrics and another that's very questionable and probably WRONG! 2-25-19

Get yourself a big board
Not every Saturday boy

Lol... thank you!!!!!
Brian's sister Maureen played the harp in this

I remember hearing this song in a wild river country add
"Get yourself a big board" is what I hear (?every Saturday boy? lol).

It is get yourself a big board
And the other line is
They'll hit the road and *all* be surfin soon. Yes, it should be I'll but, Mike sang all
"Every Saturday boy" ????? *LOL* ...
