I can remember growing up in the mid 1960s while this song was playing on the radio.

I had this song pop in my head 3 days ago, been humming it since lol. I haven't heard it in years! I have random songs that I haven't remembered in so long sometimes hit me, maybe my memory bank fires off at times lol....anyways I didn't remember all the lyrics but just one line and wasn't even sure it was correct but I sure had the melody down. I had made it a point when not busy to check it out on youtube. It sounds pretty much the same as it did to my young ears with exception of how I heard lyrics then verses now. Such a great classic & wonderful memory lane for me. 🎼❤

Personal reminder of this came from the short-lived Coca-Cola With Lime, whose ad jingle repeated one line that was rewritten to read, "You put the lime in the Coke, you nut." Never actually got to DRINK the stuff.

In 1965 , met this beautiful girl while dance band was playing this song, asked her to dance it with me & we've been together ever since - 1 OF THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY PRODUCED SONGS EVER!

Grapped my daughter at a car show and told her that is a 409 ,2 minute's later a 1962 Chevy Biscayne heater/ radio delete, dual quads 4 speed and stock exhaust, I still remember the neighbors new 1964 Chevy Impala and he was always on the gas, O' what a lovely sound it was to me!!!😅😅😅😅😅😅

I absolutely love this! It is so transferring me back to the days when life was much simpler than it is today. It is musical YOGA for me. ❤

My parents had this on an album of instrumentals. I was probably 8 years old when I first played that record (65 now). I absolutely love it and the way the vocals and that fuzzy guitar made one of the most beautiful recordings ever.

I have the original Georgia license plate from this car. Has been hanging in my pool house cabana for decades.

I still have the album Surfin' Safari. I've moved it to every place since 1973. My uncle left it our house when I was 7. I loved the song 409. It was also in the "Little Duece Coup" album. I never get tired of the boys.

I recall hearing the ARAs doing a little faster less serious version and it cracked me up. Kind of like let’s get this chore over with. And recently I had seen some footage of them performing this song and Russell quipped “ I wonder if they got the AARP rate “?🤣

Two corrections: "You paddle out, turn around and RACE"(not RAISE). And, after "take a lesson from a top notch surfer boy", it's "GET YOURSEL A BIG BOARD" (not "Every Saturday, boy") ,"but don't you treat it like a toy", so now it makes sense !!!
