@@PaleHorseOutdoors going to order one very soon. Fall/Winter is the best time for cleaning and thinning the growth. I have 3-4 acres that desparately needs thinning to become firewood for the Family Fire Pit! But in addition and really for the long term, my soon-to-be planted 2 acre vineyard will yield tons of finger diameter sized prunings to be raked, gathered, moved and burned annually. As any vineyardist know....you've got to get the old stuff out! I might even become as good as you are with the "grabble" someday! Great tips and advice! I've had that problem with too much pressure in my grapple lines before too - bleeding them out a little is the easiest way I've found to get the connection made. Our grapple is a little different, in that the rake teeth on the bottom are longer -so I can often just scoop underneath what I want to pick up, then clamp with the grapple and lift. I don't usually need to tip the grapple forward to pick things up.

Hi Kyle, thanks for watching. The technique of aligning, pushing/pulling, curling (pinching) and adjusting the loader arms while grabbing apply to anything you pick up whether it's straight or gnarled logs. For the most part, you want to block and limb the logs before picking them up or you might punch your grill with a limb. Twisted/gnarled logs can be picked up in a group, but personally I always limb and buck them so that they are as straight as possible so I can fit more at a time in a single load. Take care! - David

@@PaleHorseOutdoors , Hey David, one of my videos a while back shows where I got a custom made grill guard from Zook’s Welding in Fremont Ohio. I am one of the lucky ones. I used mine for three years without any oops. Ed from My Cluttered Garage got his the first time out.

I use my grapple to pick up small amounts of dirt when I'm doing grapple work in the woods and it grabs quite a bit if there's a fair amount of leaves/twigs/roots mixed in.
