Pelta-Class Frigate: Exists
Subjugator Class Heavy Cruiser: It's free real estate!
One point of contention, the Victory-class is said to have been introduced at the half-way mark of the war, about the same time as the Arquitens, and did see combat though on a more limited scale than the Venator.
I think you're lumping in the Victory-II, Imperator, and Tector classes, which were all introduced at the very end of the war with limited service, with the original Victory-class.
New Canon actually lines up p well with what he said
Hopefully we get to see the Victory class in action on screen in the 7th season of Clone wars!
I can just imagine a dramatic shot of an engineer introducing the episode’s protagonist to one sitting half-built in a dry dock.
Would be really cool, but I highly doubt it. I don't think the ship is currently canon.
It's canon it was mentioned in the book Tarkin
Oh, cool. I'd love to see Lucasart's 3D rendering of it. All of the ones so far are just fan depictions.
@@joechace8214 I believe the Victory class as seen in the Empire at War games was and is still considered the canonical look of the ship. although i dont know if the distinction between I and II still exists.
I’d say a Venator loaded to the gills with Y-Wings and a bunch of Consular Class ships outfitted with Turbolasers AND Rapid Fire Laser Cannons would be a pretty damn good match for CIS Warships and even Imperial Star Destroyers (not just the class but the faction) due to their heavy reliance on turbo-lasers and lack of point defense or rapid fire guns.
Fair argument, but the issue is the CIS snub fighters would make short work of the Y-Wings without any kind of escort. Might be a good idea to fill in some of the defensive gaps.
it will, if it can operate out of turbolaser range like aircraft carriers do with battleships
I parallel-parked a Resurgent-class Battlecruiser yesterday. Few were killed.
My favourite ship!
@@ExcaliburHeavyBattlecruiser Yeah, the Resurgent is a fine ship. My fave is still the Bellator tho
the resurgent was the perfect balance between executor victory and venator
Ew a sequel fan
@@adamkerman475The Resurgent is just a badassed ship, no matter what movie it was in. And for the record I didn't like the sequels, just TFA. TLJ and TROS were awful.
God the Venator is such a sexy ship. I just hate how it's such a mediocre battleship.
Yep, it was a better carrier than cruiser
It annoys me how in clone wars it was constantly shown in a group with other Venators, without any Acclamators around.
It's probably the most well armed and powerful carrier in SW history. Put the venator with some new republic or rebel star fighters and you got a scary ship.
@@eanna3781 Well Aclamator wasnt that good of a ship in combat, it was better as troop carrier and had to be used as combat vessel in first months of Clone Wars because there was no other ships to fill capital ships role before Venators came in
@@eanna3781 Well, the Acclamator was an assault ship, not meant for duking it out in space. They're meant to deploy armies on the surface of a planet. That's why they designed the Arquitens class as the war progressed, so they'd have a light cruiser to assist the Venator battlegroups in fleet engagements. The Venator is a cruiser/carrier, after all, not a full fledged battleship like the Imperial class would be under the Empire.
The combat refit of the Consular is honestly one of if not my favourite ship from the Republic era, it bears the classic hallmarks of a Correlian designed ship but personally has more character than the later CR90
My boi Venator accomplished more than the ISD, I think I'm enterpreting that right
Well, ISD almost conquered entire worlds alone. It was a different scenario. One in which the Empire was projecting power and needed one/two vessels to function as invasion-enablers and yet more aggressive than venators.
The imperial Star destroyers did a great job and scaring little rebel fighters being a attack ship while the venator, a carrier really, destroyed many capital ships subjugators malificent class frigates the malevolence, I’ll let you be the judge who did more
@@daenor7807 Definitely the ISD. Without the ISD and its hideous fighters complement, the rebels wouldn't even be able to set foot into the sky before getting their ass blast by 52 point defence grids that are designed specifically to destroy fighters. Let's not mention her fighter capacity and primary weapon that can switch between rapid-fire and high yield intensity.
We wouldn't even have a rebel series at that point. So, ISD FTW.
@@Yayaloy9 well plot armor wins.
Venator whould actually cost more to keep then make a whole new fleet for the empire
May we get to see the Victory Class Star Destroyer in the final season of the Clone Wars
Palpatine001 at this point I doubt it. The show has overused venators way to much at this point. We barely see Aclamators, arquitens, and consular ships.
@@punctuationman334 It introduced Arquintens actually
Jack Rutledge Goembel when?
Jack Rutledge Goembel I know but we barely see them.
@@punctuationman334 well, why would we? The small frigates are really no use except as anti fighter picket ships, if fire is concentrated on them their ripped to pieces immediately.
The acclamator meanwhile is a transport, and we see it almost always when a planet is invaded, except when a smaller force is landed from a Venator using gunships...
The victory class Star destroyer had a huge effect on turning the tide in the battle of coruscant
Can you do a video on different types of escape pods in sci-fi? Everyone seems to forget about them ...
well they are escape pods unpleasant thing that mean your ship has most likely blown up which is better than said except pod
If I was in the Empire, I'd mention to the Emperor how essential the Venator Class Star Destroyer is through its combat and unique ability. Damn you Tarkin😩
The ISD might have performed better if it had learned from the Venator, large numbers of fightercraft can overwhelm even the strongest ships.
Since the Rebels often sent a small group of Y-wing starfighters to attack and destroy Imperial star destroyers, a Venator full of Tie fighters might've been enough to overpower the larger and slower Y-wings. Even with an escort of X-wings or A-wings, the sheer number of fighters contained within a single Venator could probably hold them off...
The Empire just got through their WW2 moment, saw that a carrier is the best design available.
And then scrapped all of them to pick up a bunch of useless battleships.
@@hafor2846 The Empire's problem with Fighters wasn't Quantity, it was Quality.
I'm not sure who the jackhole at Sienar Fleet Systems was who sold The Empire on an unshielded, unarmored plasticrete ball attached to two tinfoil solar panels with durasilk twine was, but he deserves every filthy stinking Credit he made off the deal.
@@digitalis2977 I mean even in quantity the Imperial struggled. An individual ISD only carried something like 60 TIEs.
I love the Venator. If I was a Jedi Knight leading an attack force, my fleet would comprise of a few Victory Star Destroyers serving as the muscle, supported by Arquitens-class and Consular-class ships, with Venators and Acclamators following close behind as troop and fighter carriers. The Victory Star Destroyers would lead the charge, pelting CIS ships with continuous barrages as the opening strike.
Loved it, I wish you would revisit the Bablyon 5 universe as well.
Great video, hoping for StarGATE next time :) o7
I am curious as what vessels are left to cover, i believe the tau'ri ships have been done and the goa'uld have as well. Traveler and the Lantean. I know the O'neil, Blizinger, and have they done a Daniel Jackson?
@@AdmiralStoicRum I think Ori mothership has not been covered yet, maybe those alien ships from SGU...
@@AdmiralStoicRum I'm pretty sure he was going to come back go over individual F-304s, like the Daedalus and Odyssey
I like the Pelta, it's pleasingly chunky. It could use a beefier drive cluster though, I wonder if you could fit the drive array from the Arquitens on its frame.
Graham Baxter eh could do, it’s probably possible but might not look right
The Pelta actually has fold out engines for some reason. They look to be a reasonable match for the size of the ship, but the fold out mechanism seems both weak and pointless.
I hear that SWTOR music. I see you're a man of culture, as well.
The republics ships are awesome, especially the Venator. I love that ship
3:34 that mirrored scene has made my brain shut down for a second
Facts and no fanboyism, I like it.
I hope canon uses the victory-class more it’s only been mentioned like twice.
Me too! They also have the opportunity to redesign it, to look more of the era.
the consular class was always one of my favorites
I'd love to see more videos like these. I think it'd be dope if you did one for the Garmillan imperial navy or the United Nations Cosmo Navy from space battleship yamato 2199/2202
I wonder if that Star Destroyer briefly visible in the Ep. 9 teaser was a Victory class destroyer
Maybe the Resistance will find an old stash of decommissioned Old Republic warships
"katana" fleet?
all these ships were very good, but if we fuse the Venator, Victory, and Acclimator, we'd have a near unstoppable ship
They all have exposed bridges so bombers can wreck your bridge very easily but to be fair, most ships have external bridges.
I would combine the firepower of a resurgent along with the shields of the MC85 and hangars of the Lucrehulk. It'd be a big and very expensive ship but it's a better form of a dreadnought.
I like the way you're displaying the stats of the ships in the lower left corner - nice touch
For such a short video this is amazing!! Well done.
Its straight to the point and summarized each class nicely.
More people should do videos like this.
Are there any plans on doing a breakdown of the Subjugator-class heavy cruiser?
@@yardhunter4209 Especially other variants than the Malevolence. I know there's supposed to be something like five of them. First, there's the _Malevolence_ deployed in raids and without support, as sort of a Bismarck-analogue, then there is the _Devastation_ that appeared in a Nintendo DS game that is a 1.5 times as long, red superweapon of small-moon-destroying caliber that always looked like a flying lightsaber with engines to me, and there is another unnamed and unfinished vessel of the Subjugator-class being constructed, and eventually destroyed in the Enoth system in the 2014 comic: _Hotshot_ _Star_ _Wars_ : _The_ _Clone_ _Wars_ _Comic_ _UK_ _6.54_ , but I know nothing about any other types.
(sources: starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Subjugator-class_heavy_cruiser/Legends ,
starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Enoth_system ,
starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Devastation )
Republic: designs venator that mostly just supports it's fighters and is very versatile to fit almost any situation. It's only drawback is its lackluster armament for being a ship of the line. It gets used mostly in the role it wasn't designed to fill.
Empire: what if we just do the exact opposite thing? It's not like having exactly that would be a good idea...
Do more videos like this about the ships of others Star Wars's factions.
One of my disappointments (a minor one) of The Clone Wars is we never got to see the VicStar and the Dreadnought in Grand Starfleet colours.
Love your channel. Great break downs for all your reports. In the future I would love to see you do a segment on international rescue and the Thunderbirds vehicles. Either the original or remake.
Excellent breakdown of the ships. Thanks for doing this. Every time I see a Spacedock vid, I learn something.
I was just thinking about the Victory and Venator the other day. More the point, I was thinking about how they should have been introduced roughly simultaneously to serve as a more logical leap to the Imperial-class. Simply put, neither Star Destroyer is quite a logical precursor to the Imperial. The Victory-class is clearly more of a heavy destroyer/cruiser (and significantly smaller) while the Venator-class is more of a heavy carrier. It seems to me like either ship would almost demand an intermediary step before become a full-fledged Imperial I. On the other hand, two contemporary ships, serving different roles, but being analyzed by R&D for their strengths and weaknesses might just see themselves combined into a mightier warship....
Perfect video given Star Wars Armada recently announced they’re doing the Clone Wars!
Would LOVE to see you play a game of Armada at some point and upload the highlights.
I love Stargate.
Wait, this isn't Stargate.
This isn't Stargate at all!
Hallowed are the Ori. 🔥🔥🔥
Impudence..
Imagine a Victory popped up one episode of Clone Wars and everyone looks at it like this "... What is that?"
3:13 that is a true victory class star destroyer right here.
Shame the rebels couldn't grab a few of those during the war. That ship fit right in with their fighting style.
Not really, their ships had hyper drives and generally used hit and run tactics
@@josecarbajal5028 it would work. A mobile base with fighter repair facilities, medical, and has a lot of armor, shields, and some decent guns. It would fair better than most ships against the empire
I always thought that the Acclamator Assault Ship had more Durability than a Venator Star Destroyer due to it's Neutronium Impregnated Hull which was described as being able to take Fusion Rockets with only a scratch (Granted this was from the same book that said that Acclamators had 200 Gigaton Quad Turbolasers lol). That episode "Innocents of Ryloth" showed a ground based Proton Cannon crippling an Acclamator which is likely the source of the weak Acclamator concept. A Troop Transport would need to be heavily armored if it hoped to successfully bypass Flak and Land troops. The Tactical Droid said that the J-1 Proton Cannons were new at the time. I bet a Venator would be absolutely crippled from 1 or 3 Shots from the J-1 Proton Cannon.
I love the designs of the Republics warships. Sleek, and just down right beautiful.
Awesome video, Spacedock!
I like that there's a pretty obvious design style difference between the KDY ships and the Correllian ones.
Love these videos. Keep up the good work.
Love how you do the fleet justice!
We need EPIC space battles in Clone Wars Season 7. I hope to see the beginning of the Battle of Coruscant and Mando and Republic fighters slugging it out in the Siege of Mandalore.
The Consular destroyer/light frigate is a fantastic addition to Venators.
As are the Arquitens-es!
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR
Awesome Video 👍
Love this video
Liked and enjoyed watching this video!!!
I truly love warships of Star Wars!!!
Hope you'll do similar vids for the others!!!!!!
Idk why but i always love the look of that Venator
technically the republic used ISDs at the end of the clone wars during the battle of coruscant, right at the back of the separatist fleet
Imagine what it would feel like to be in control of the ENTIRE Seperatist Alliance
Venator, when used properly will beat down any other Capitol Ship of its time. Love that ship.
It might even take a ISD-II down, at the very least give it a run for its money!
Actually the ISD-II had even less point defense weapons than the ISD-I, meaning a Venator would have an even easier time taking down a II than it would a I, which is freaking hilarious but hey, all the Rebellion really had to do was get a Venator and vwalla, hit and run attacks, so much deadlier!!!
@@Arendelft The II would be more likely to destroy the Venator itself with the increased firepower, even if it then gave under the fighter swarm
Bravo, very well put together and superb editing as usual. Any tips on how to be a Sci-Fi writer/blogger?
Great vid
Great video guys, love the Venator, has to be my favourite star destroyer, need to get my model of it painted!
What kind of model? Revel?
@@captainryutaro1866 Yes mate, got it all built and primed during the weekend :)
Even though the Venator's first real life, movie release date appearance was ROTS, it's nice that The Clone Wars series 'back stopped' them to appear at the beginning of the Republic - CIS war. Now if only TCW had made V-wings and AT-APs appear even half as often!
The Venator-Class reigns supreme during the Clone War.
Dat New Republic lot needs more shooty and zappy bits.
youz can nevah 'ave enough dakka and flashy bits fer da

I hope the victory is in season 7 of clone wars
Forgot the Secutor Class Star Destroyer it also appeared in the battle of coruscant but off screen
Actually victory had big role in stopping the fleet from foerost that ravaged core words, besides that yes, he did little job, but this one campaign was very important
Babylon 5 White Star plse!
Ditto
Has an Imperial version been made of this video? Very much enjoyed it
Mandator class could have been mentionned, if it's still canon. Great vid !
Warships of the B5 universe please
The best ships in starwars tbh
Agreed. The Venator became my favorite starship in Star Wars ever since I first saw her gracefully floating above Coruscant in Revenge of the Sith.
One of the best looking ships*
The Venator is far from the best ship in Star Wars
The venator is a great carrier if nothing else.
@@AAhmou Yeah, one of the best carriers in Star Wars
Best ship of its class. Main problem was it was in a fleet with other Venators usually meaning a weakness in the ships combat abilities can be easily exploited to win the battle. Which is why fleets need a versatile number of ships in them
Could you do a data file sorta thing for the sith imperial navy? From the old republic era or have you done that?
Imagine how difficult it would be for the rebels if the Empire ran with the Venators over the ISD
Nice!!!
Arquitens is my favorite of the ships presented. I don't fully understand why, but its just an absolutely fantastic starship in my opinion, especially if one were to properly outfit it. if I were to select my next it would be the victory class. Although as far as other ship in contention for top, the Raider corvette has a very sexy shape and purpose ans well as capabilities.
There needs to be a game like Empire at War for the Clone Wars era. Ships just look better and are organized by proper class instead of having designs that are willy-nilly like Nebulon-Bs and all that. I mean I get the design aesthetic - in the rebellion's case it's literally a ragtag group of vessels brought together under one banner from every corner of the galaxy, but you would think that for all the thousands of years the Republic has existed every alien nation could come to a galactic standard for ship class per size, right?
There are mods like Republic at War (Fall of ther Republic is still in dev phase) for Empire at War
Thank you .
Another day in the Grand NAVY of the Republic
The consular-class would make a good hero ship in a Clone Wars video game.
Idk if anyone has told you....but you got a voice for narration!
looking back at this, the Consular class could have really used a pair of torpedo launchers up from and maybe a quad missile turret with anti-fighter missiles. making it more of a PT/PTM style then a pure gunboat.
You should do a video on the First Order navy. That would be nice.
I'd love it if you did 5 minute videos for every ship. I realize that's hard to do, but still.....please?
C-70 is my favourite ship
Since you included the Victory, I expected to see the Imperator as well, but It's understandable omission :)
As a player of the 2005 star wars battle front two, aclamators are super easy to destroy with bombers.
Venator best spaceship
Love it!! Hope you revisit Stargate and Babylon 5 as well
Do an analysis about the old republic ships
say what you will about the prequels but they nailed the whole "pre-imperial" look of Republic spacecraft.
Will there be videos on the warships of both the Rebellion and Empire in the near future?
3 Victory Class
4 Venator Class
8 Arquitens class
6 Acclamtor Assault Class
10 Charger class
10 Pelta class
7 heavy warhips with an emphasis on fighters while the the main warships take out everything that gets too close.
The Charger and the Arquitens handle the fighters and smaller warships and act as they should as escorts.
Acclamtor stays behind and uses it light weapons to defend the transportation which would help refuel and re arm the warships.
Can we get a full video on Victory II class
Good video, just wish we got see a Victory-class on screen. Wish like Legends, the Imperator-class was there late in the war as well. Also all of the Star Dreadnoughts, Battlecruisers, and Star Destroyers of the planetary navies like the Mandator-class.
The Arquitens were also used by the Empire.
What about the Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser or the Bellator I Star Dreadnaught?
AFAIK Dreadnaught (although without name) made into Disney canon by "Tarkin" book
Also, the isd was a former republic ship, it was known as the Imperator class Star Destroyer
@@Jfk2Mr it's also in Rebels, but never in the Clone Wars in Canon.
This is only Canon ships.
I love your content, but had a question: How do you animate these videos? Ive been searching for a tool that allows that type of animation for fiction stuff but cant find anything.
Hey Spacedock, you've done a lot of analysis of spaceships (mostly from Wars/Trek recently, not complaining) would you do one in the near future on the Seaquest DSV?
Best ships!
mandators, dreadnoughts, and carracks: are we a joke to you?
In the picture shown at 3:10 what are those cylindrical objects in between the flaps near the ship's stern? Is that an oversized array of missile/torpedo tubes?
Could you do the maquis ships?
