  • 2700 years ago King Hezekiah had a tunnel dug to divert water from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam. This was to prevent any water from the spring in Jerusalem to flow outside the city and thereby supply attacking armies that might come against Jerusalem. Today you can walk through Hezekiah's Tunnel in about 30 minutes. It is a water engineering marvel, especially for it's time and there are few projects in the ancient world that can equal it. The tunnel was dug through limestone and dolomite. Workers started at either end of the roughly 1/3 mile tunnel and met in the middle, which was an incredible feat. #jerusalem #rocks
