HM King Edward VIII - The first broadcast to the Empire as King - 1 March 1936 load of claptrap Nazi sympathiser www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jul/20/winston-churchill-nazi-telegrams-uk-royals-edward-cabinet-papers
One can hear how he had affected an American pronunciation - most glaring being the words , “broadcast” , “ inspiration” and the drawn out “ a” on “all “ . Otherwise , a good speech .
separation of church & state. important IMO. had it not been for the lack of this, this man would have remained king. charles is not held to same standards. fair or unfair. looks unfair to me.
This great man was forced to abdicate due to his authoritarian tendencies and unwillingness to bring Britain into war. His choice of a wife was just a pretence.
He was totally German in sympathies, would have had The British Empire join the Axis powers. The whole world dodged a bullet when he was driven into exile. They had to ship him off to the Bahamas where he was essentially under house arrrest under the watchful eyes of the United States
It is sad how much the posh British accents have degraded. The clipped pronunciation which the young folks use is rather grating (listen to the two boys of the royal family). Edward VIII sounds not really any different from an educated American of the time- or any American who’d taken elocution lessons.
He was the most handsome and well spoken..
Unlike the inbreds who took the helm….. well took Titanic
Interesting to hear how different certain words are pronounced
A historic speech and a fine speech in its sentiments.

I sure didn't expect his voice to sound this posh.
It's NOT him! He was replaced!
@@tbarkley9996 it is him, he abdicated in December of this same year.

He looked like Tsarevich Alexei at 00:21
What a FOXY looking man!!!!!!
he was a handsome man
He was also a Nazi supporter who gave information to Nazi Germany so that their bombing raids were more effective against his own country.
How old was he at this point? He looked so young.
@@fritzkongi4708 Well, he was born in June 1894 and this was March 1936, so he was 41 years old. Not old not young.
Fascists are never good-looking.
Subtitles would have been nice ...
