Just installed mine today (Chevy Blazer). Upgraded from the V1LG that I had since the latter part of 2017 (which still works great, btw).
Very nice!
Can you get one of those videos and see if you can manually zoom up to a license plate via any video editing software?
Nice setup! The side views are great!
i just got this camera and i noticed the two side cameras are inverted. When i wave my right hand, on the camera it looks like its my left. is there a way to change the orientation of the cameras?
The flicker in your night video is coming from your iphone. Iphones emit pulses of IR light as part of an active aware feature.
Ahh, thanks for the lesson, I will keep the phone out of sight in the future.
Do you Reccomend having it professionally installed??
So the night view is not in color?
How many recording modes when hotwired?
Would the side camera’s be considered the cabin ?
Have you tried the parking mode?
What's the highest Capacity sd card
Can you use it for parking mode, recording when there is movement but without hardwiring it? maybe by connecting it to a power bank?
I am not sure if a powerbank would hold enough power for long enough. You can hardwire easily with even an adapter to the obd2 port. I plan to work on doing this soon with mine.
I just bought one looks good can’t wait to hook it up.
Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing footage.
Does it come with cigarette plug?
How can I see the videos live from my phone on the app?
can you view ALL FOUR cameras on the screen?
Yes, all 4 show on the screen when you drive, you can choose to have visible or not.
Is the flicker from your iPhone? Usually the iPhone shines a IR laser for face unlock
I will have to test that, I rarely drive at night these days but will do a test run with the phone put away.
flicker is probably the refresh rate from your dash screens. I dont have this camera, but check the menu if there is a 50hz/60hz selection mode. Also, is your back window tinted? If not, the rear camera has much worse low light performance. Seems like an afterthought. Maybe see if you can bump the exposure up for only that camera, like i can do with my Vantrue.
Yo tengo una, pero se apaga y prende sola 😕 solo tengo 6 meses con ella
Thinking of buying one and noticed you showed a 3min Loop Setting at the start. I take it it records more than 3 min and loops? Planning to use it for rideshare and want to make sure I have some historical footage. Thank you for reviewing and sharing!
Yes, it will record in 3 minute increments and then once the storage is full then it starts to write over the older files. I havent checked my card lately so I am not for sure how much data it uses for longer drives so I would have to check that sometime.
@@JakeTechReviews Thank you!
Did this workout for u ? Easy to clip videos from 15 min ride or 30 min ride?
Hi Jake. Any idea how you can remove the overlaying screen, that shows on the dash cam, once you’re recording? It says wi-fi , the name of the camera, and a couple more things listed on the screen? I can’t seem to shut it off, so I can see, just the view, I choose?
Sorry been busy, I would think that would timeout, mine doesnt stay on. I would have to remember to take a look and see if I can see something.
@@JakeTechReviews I figured it out. You have to go into the screensaver mode, and switch it to time, day, and speed limit. It takes a minute, but it works. Thanks👍
@@Ochtane101 Ahh, glad you figured it out. I normally do not mess with anything much and I do not even use the settings or wifi to look at footage, I prefer to put the card into my macbook.
No gps speed? What's the point then?
Ive been trying to download the android app and for some reason its not available
Could you utilize it backward and the 2 side cams cover the front and side and middle do the cab
I assume you could.
Does the rear view mirror power dongle supply power when the vehicle is off?
It does not, it gets power when the mirror does so when the auxiliary is on or the truck is on.
320 shave the tint where cam mounts
Does it drain your battery when you hardwire or plug to the cigarette adapter ?
It can drain a little but takes a while before it is too much. I believe they have a cutoff as well if the voltage gets too low. I have not hardwired yet to test myself.
Can u get the plate number
You do not show how to set up the camera in detail.
the flicker is the lidar sensor on your phone that is used to scan your face for face unlock.
Will it allow you to connect to your phone and stream with youtube?
Thanks for this! I use the V5, I like it but I think a 60fps would be better with the 4k
You can connect to get the files but I have no clue about streaming to youtube, that is something I would never try to do with a dash cam personally.
@@JakeTechReviews thank you for the input! Maybe with the DJI products? but even that it all determines the service correct?
@@TrvlXLTV I am not sure, I have never tried a dash cam or seen a way. I know there are some out there that can stream but I know they are expensive.
At :49 what is powering the camera? It is plugged into the cigarette lighter from your vehicle?
It comes with a cig lighter plug, I have mine plugged into a USB dongle off my mirror.
Does this have voice control for photo, saving event etc?
I dont think so but it might. I want to know if you can save the video when driving so it dosent get deketed in loop recording
@@taztazblackwell3927yes you can. It’s not voice control but you just click on the far right “ok” button and it will lock that footage so it is not overwritten
I just got one for Christmas, but I noticed that when recording the side cameras, look reversed. The passenger camera looks like it's recording the driverside.
So?
Can you see it live through the app? Good job on making video.
Yes you can, I need to find time soon but I plan to revisit this dash cam to share and show more. I want to get a hardwire kit as well.
The app is horrible, 2 star reviews.
I just bought the R4 directly from the manufacturer. I have a few questions:
(1) It would seem that I have manually connect the wi-fi everytime I get into my car and start the engine. Are you (or any of your subscribers) having this same issue? Is there a way to keep the wi-fi connected without having to manually connect everytime.
(2) When connected to the wi-fi, the screen on the dash cam is covered with 4 lines of text. Is anyone else getting this?
(3) If you remove the micro SD card everytime to download the files to your home computer, don't you have to unplug the camera from the power source and the rear camera in order to access the micro SD card?
Thank you and your subscribers for any help!
The wifi is only meant for transferring files from the dash cam to your phone and it will not stay on. That 4 lines of text is giving the details to connect your phone to it. I unplug the cables to remove the sd card if I need to get footage.
Does this have time-lapse mode?
yes it does
Does the system work with your car turn off?
if you hardwire then yes
i have this setup on my 23 gmc Seirra sadly my truck was Burglarized (no forced entry somehow got into the truck) and caught it on my dashcam have him on driver cam, passenger cam and my rear cam i uploaded my videos put it on the drive and filed a police report funny part was this idiot had a jacket with a name on it and phoenix fire department on the back still currently waiting to hear back and hope they got his fingerprints from my truck. Also here is my complaint my dashcam only comes on when truck is running or Aux lights are on so my dashcam didnt catch how he entered the truck all it caught was the theft in progress and the exit. setting up this camera was easy to install but wifi cuts in and out having an SD card helps but i would like it to send to account and phone each time i get any activity inside or outside vehicle. I dont like the wifi paring my vehicle comes with its own wifi if only it can link to that instead could help a lot because it makes it hard to pull videos when camera wifi cuts out kicking you off app
Thats great that you got some footage and hope they get him. I know there are some fancier dash cams out there that can do notifications and everything but they are a bit pricey.
The app for this camera is junk, do not buy this
It definitely is. Do you by any chance know how to delete videos from the app or can you delete videos from the camera itself? The app is absolutely useless.
But why DOES EVERYTHING have to be web based now???
@@roberthouston3809so it’s easier to track you.
For personal safety, people wanted to have the ability to back up their footage just in case LEO tries to destroy evidence. You can use Wi-Fi and store the files to a drive in a pinch . Of course the software needs to be good. @@roberthouston3809
Thank for input I almost was going to buy it
What did you get the USB dongle? I have a f150
Amazon, I just looked and it says unavailable right now and im not sure if or when they will have more. I was going to look into others so if I also find a different one that works I will let you know

@@JakeTechReviews thanks, much appreciated.
Just be aware. I had ordered one but canceled when I found out. It DOES NOT provide 24/7 power. The adapter is only a method to eliminate wires going to your cigarette lighter. It will still shut off at whatever interval your vehicle automatically turns off accessory power. Hardwire kit is your best bet if you want to use "parking mode" where the camera only records individual clips when it detects motion or collision.
How do I activate parking mode
It’s not quite a real parking mode which is what my biggest disappointment was. It’s simply a g sensor that will start the camera if a hard enough collision occurs. Rather pointless in my opinion besides MAYBE in a hit and run situation and identifying the other vehicle. But even then, it doesnt catch the accident, just starts recording after the fact
@@codyr8696 Ok, so it would still catch the vehicle description or someone walking around to check their vehicle, etc.... Doesn't this camera have motion detection as well? You'd think it would turn on in parking mode to catch the car approaching, then flag the "Event" of the impact. My Vantrue does both. It will already be recording the motion if the G-Sensor is triggered. They may end up in separate clips (one in the "events" folder), but they will be there.
It should be automatic after a period of time with no motion detected.
Instead of going down to your floor board, go up top from your headliner.
I have done both including in older videos but I prefer the floor after a few installs.
3 minutes max for 256gb???????
the camera will record in 3 minute segments. This is so that you can find certain event a lot faster or easier. Then once the card is full, it will start to record over the first segment that was recorded. The other reason it is divided into segments is so that if there is an incident and the G-shock sensor is triggered, the device will save that segment and not write over it until you go in and manually delete that segment.
@@jmackinjersey1 Thanks for replying. I just saw this. I see, so when one 3 minute segment ends, another starts? I was planning on buying this to find out who is messing with my car at night... I'm not sure if it would be able to catch them though. Would you think it would work for that purpose?
@@JUDGEME5150 I gave up. It doesn't seem like there are any dashcam manufactures that cater to 24 hour surveillance despite its relevance. You'd need to take a comprehensive look at your car every day, and comb through 24 hours of video to find the perp anyways.
@@JUDGEME5150 I agree, karma accrues interest. I wasn't aware that gamecams were a thing, thanks! The Rexing product listing is hard for me to understand. I think it is only going to detect when the camera itself moves, like during a hit and run. I find it hard to find concrete answers, but the game cam sounds like it was literally made for this kind of application. Great idea.
@@JUDGEME5150 Actually I went and looked again, looks like rexing is not a bad choice. I am just unsure of how to set up electricity when the vehicle isnt running. Maybe I will get one of these next month.
what about the parking feature? You didn't test it! You had one job...
I also stated it requires hardwired for it to work and I dont have mine hardwired so of course its not tested...
@@JakeTechReviews and I was wrong, how? You didn't test it fully. That feature is what distinguishes it from all the other cheap Chinese cameras. 360° monitoring through 4 cameras somewhat like a Tesla Sentry Mode. That's why you're getting the views. We all want to see that! Otherwise it's just another cheap Chinese dash cam that nobody cares about! Context.
Here's a thought. You could always get off your lazy, entitled ass and make your OWN videos to show people how it's done instead of being a non-contributing zero that bitches about something that is FREE!!! @@Inimbrium
The app sucks. Returned mine.
I am not a fan of most of the apps that come with dash cams.
No 4k option, not worth it. Sounds good to say people don't care... until you're hit and the tag is blurry and or info is unobtainable. That is pretty ignorant. Especialy to those of us who utilize dashcams such as the vava 4k, viofo 4k, and blackvue cameras.
It is all personal opinion, as well as need and budget. Not everyone thinks they need 4k. Yes, a 4k is better, but then again how much do you think you'd be able to record through 4 cameras if the front was 4k and the rest were 1080, before it looped. Otherwise you'd need a dual processor to have a nice 4k front and maybe 2k for the others. Then the price would be a lot higher.
Yuo can watch Blackboxmycar do a video where they used 2 U1000 sets and had a 4 camera set up where they put the 4k on the front and rear and then used the 2 rear cameras as side mounted cameras.
