I appreciate this song. It doesn't matter if it's an original or a cover. The most essential part of the song is the message it brings to the people. And from what I can say, this song, both English & Tagalog, is empowering as it focuses on "love", "trust", and "unity". I invite you to listen to the message of the song rather than to criticize its verbatim and the original language of the song.
P.S. On a lighter note, I love KZ's unique timbre. And if I may, the melody of this song sounds similar to the station ID music of ABS-CBN back in the day. Just had to say it. (To the hypersensitive, I have no intention to offend.) Respect for diversity. Unity for all. :) :) :)

Disney's been doing different language versions of their songs ever since. It's just a big shock to many here because this is the first time that our version is sang in our native language, as usually it's in English (Janella's How Far I'll Go was a missed opportunity).
Also, this song is for promotional purposes only. I'm already aware that this song won't be played in theaters. The original version of the song will always be played in any country that can understand and speak English.

To those who say that it doesn't good because of the sentence structure, sometimes lyrics come from poems with structures that deviate from the expected sentence structure. A good poem with rhyme flows good to be a song. Para syang tula na ginawang kanta. Good job kz! I am so proud of your achievements. You got me doing a marathon of your past song performances. The sentence structure does not seem poetic at all. It sounds informal and slang. It breaks the rules of Filipino grammar and sentence construction. But the music is good and somehow, it makes some sense.

Raya and the Last Dragon is not your typical Disney movie na may kantahan sa gitna ng eksena. It depicts the celebration of culture. The races na meron ang SEA countries. Raya, being a female warriors bends all gender stereotypes na kaya ring maging mandirigma ng mga kababaihan. Nakakatuwa talaga na Disney made a movie na kung saan we can enjoy our own roots, kung saan tayo nagmula. KZ's voice also matched the soul of the song. Maganda yung English version pero iba parin kapag yung sariling wika na yung ginamit. May ibang atake na bilang Pilipino. And this movie, one of the best Disney films ever done! You can also learn some lessons in this film. 10/10!!

A lot of you are saying that the translation of the song is not appealing or “ugly”. Well let me tell you this as a college student and a senior highschool graduate I can say that ang pagsasalin or translation is one of the hardest lessons in the Filipino subject. Given that this is a song; meaning there must be a precise tempo, it is really hard to find the appropriate translation to fit the exact filipino words in the same bar as the english version without compromising the appeal of the song. For me, this is a great song and a great job to the one who translated it. 👍🏻❤️ If y’all still whining about these minor shit y’all create your own translations 🙂 PERIODT

Disney Philippines confirmed it's an official version and I think when this movie comes out in Tagalog, that this will be the ending OST. When it's coming out depends on when Disney+ Hotstar is coming to all the South-East Asian countries
Sa Pinoy lang big deal ang grammar. All English native speakers never care about grammar. Besides, musical arrangement matters more in songs, not the grammar. When the song has good accompaniment, it’s more catchy and that’s how it becomes a trend. I grasped the meaning of this song and I love it; lyrics does matter, but not the grammar.

It’s quite annoying to see how people are downplaying this song saying “This is only translated to Tagalog. It’s not original” But the song is released through Disney Philippines which is associated with the official Disney itself ???
In terms of the lyrics sounding like it was done through Google translate, like a lot of languages, it’s quite hard to translate a song word for word while still keeping the essence and meaning of the song. You either keep the words as close as possible to the original and the song will not flow as well or you change the lyrics to make it flow better but it won’t translate/deliver the exact same meaning as the original. Ie. the original song goes “
There’s energy in the water There’s magic deep in our hearts” how else would you translate the word magic? Mas maganda ba salamangka? You would have to change the whole sentence structure then it won’t mean the same way. Please feel free to take a stab at translating this
People are so quick to point out and criticize something but don’t take the time to fully understand the aspects of it.
The fact that this is just a translated version of a song that was used in the film just feels like tokenism, making Filipinos feel they're included when Disney couldn't bother to put it in the actual movie. It's just a ploy to appeal to us. I love the song, don't get me wrong, but this, and the fact that they didn't have this released in any platform accessible to South East Asian watchers seems disingenuous to me.
They did this for Mulan too. It was appealing to Chinese audiences, but they didn't even add Chinese subtitles to the actual movie on Disney+ for native watchers. Disney just wants your money haha they don't really care about cultural representation.

Tbh it is hard, but I think ppl who are paid writers should do better than I did haha
And "na subukan" is so weird... "Magtiwala" has the same number of syllables and fits the English counterpart "Trust and believe" more.

I was expecting this song from the movie. I watched Raya and the last dragon yesterday but, it was so unusual for a Disney animation not to have a song number. Quite disappointed not to hear the song, instead they still used the English version on the credits. But happy to see Philippine references on the movie. Love it
