  • In his weekly clinical update, Dr. Griffin deep dives into infections of dairy cattle with high pathogenic influenza H5N1, how long virus has been circulating and if known anti-influenza antivirals can reduce secondary attack rates, before reviewing the recent statistics on SARS-CoV-2 infection, the guidelines for spring administration of COVID vaccines boosters, whether COVID booster takes associates with long COVID prevalence, discusses the emergency use application of a pre-exposure prophylactic, if administration of oral antiviral therapies can prevent the onset of post-acute sequelae following SARS-CoV-2 infection, continues to dispel the myth of viral rebound, when to use steroids and the benefits of convalescent plasma, what do when healthcare workers succumb to SARS-CoV-2 infection, compares and contrasts the cognitive profile in multiple sclerosis and post-COVID, exercise intolerance following SARS-CoV-2 infection and the epidemiology of the pandemic in a Kenyan refugee camp. For more information about this body of work, listen to TWiV 1088.

Right? Dr. Griffin has maintained his cheerful disposition for the entire four years of this mess. Who else has done that?

At TWiV 659 at min29 Christian Drosten indicate temperature sensitiviy of SARS COV2.
Maybe higher mucouseal respiratory temperature protect against SARS COV2 infection ?
May be mask wearing not only stop droplets, but also maintain higher mucouseal respiratory temperature ?

Hey guys, hello from an expat living in Cambodia. Thanks for being my touchstone for sanity the last four years. I suggest that Americans were already living in a pro-inflammatory state from insulin resistance, obesity et al, and were at an increased risk for progression to the cytokine storm that lead to the higher death rate as opposed to populations in third world countries. Thoughts?

I really appreciate the questions from fellow ‘Novids’. I’m 58, BMI of 19 and in good health. I’ve had 4 vaccines: last one October 2022. I’ve been exceptionally careful to try to avoid Covid infection. I am actually desperately hoping that my 4 vaccines are ‘enough’ because I am one of those rare cases of heart inflammation 3 days after my 4th shot.

It was surprising to discover that one of these guys is 15 years older than the other when I looked up their age. The 71 yr old looks great; do either of these guys talk about their lifestyle / diet?

Dr. Racianello enjoys electronic music, Dr. Griffin sails boats, that's all I know about 'em.

I took a Covid booster at noon today. I never had any side effects with previous shots, so when I began having GI symptoms six hours later, I thought I had the Moro virus going around. But this feels different and I have chills. I think I may have vaccine side effects because I may have had Covid when I was taking care of everyone else in my house three months ago though I never tested positive. I guess that’s possible. I have been up all night but am feeling better.
