Tomas from Lat 64 has said that they found no evidence that an overmolded disc will fly further, with that in mind and how difficult it can be make overmolded discs, that is why they cancelled the line. Also likely it could fringe on MVPs patent, so they wouldn't want that headache either.

Shoutout to Crosslap discs from my hometown Kassel, Germany. The founder is German Masters Champion Andreas Thöne who also designed one of the earliest and best courses in Calden, near Kassel. His discs though are more suitable for beginners and the "inner circle rim" in the Shadowplay Putter according to insiders was a mold error for which there was not enough money to retool the mold ;)

Puma was literally the first disc I threw/owned. I was helping someone move at college in 2001ish and they left that disc behind. Never played disc golf and started with a throw away dog chewed up Puma. Cool to see, I almost forgot what the name was until I saw it on here.

The Dragon is a must have for me... Local 18 hole course,15 of which have water hazards, most of that being water carry. And most of those have guardian trees as well... Fun. So yeah, great having a floating disc that still has at least a decent bit of weight to it.

1/12 - I actually own a code x. Found it in a used bin and it made the bag for a while. Flies exactly like a midrange should but has such a small diameter, which makes it feel like a fairway. Overall, super unique disc! Thanks for the awesome video!

As a weird disc connoisseur I’ve thrown a couple of the ones you hadn’t heard of, the Gryffon, Procul, Dutchess and Code X and still have the Code X. It’s nice, kind of like a Wasp or Bard.
I have the Salient Lockjaw in their premium plastic and it’s still buyable as the Yikun claws but I don’t think they have the premium plastic anymore.
Also have the landmine and several others you showed, agree that the landmine is oddly satisfying.
Weird discs can be super fun! I bag Stegos and people say that’s nuts but they fly great.

In the earlier part of my career, I became a bit obsessive about buying and trying new discs. It led to the discovery of some of the best discs in my bag. It's how I discovered Kastaplast (Kaxe/Kaxe Z) and Daredevil Discs (I will always have a Walrus and Woodchuck) back in 2014 or 2015. The flip side of that coin is that I have also tried some of the worst discs ever made. I have actually owned and thrown 17 different discs that were discussed (and a bunch that weren't). I've actually owned and thrown the Raging Inferno DT, Lockjaw, #1 & #2 Flyer, Blowfly I & II, Epic, Arrow, and Sharpshooters, anything Nite Ize, the Griffon, both Crosslap Discs, the Procul, Bryce, Ninja, and Diablo DT. I used to buy Dragons to give to new players when I would take someone out to show them the game. The Yeti is a great disc from Daredevil. I don't bag it anymore, but it was a fun disc for a long time.
I really enjoyed the video and love what you guys are doing for the sport. Keep up the good work.

Hello others reading these comments. I run a lost and found for a club. I would like to suggest those discs that won't sell or noone will pick up send them to Trash Panda. He will give you a discount which you can order a bunch of stuff for the entire club. This also gives Tash Panda an opportunity to experiment on recycling different plastics and maybe give him some more ideas on how to recycle them.

Love the weird discs and owned most of them. Just heard you interview with SmashBoxx. Loved the discussion about QuestAT. Steve was amazing. I emailed him once about his discs and he sent me a box of 10 discs. I still bag the 10 meter brick and 10 meter crossfire. They have very specific uses that NO OTHER disc can replicate. One thing I did not hear you mention is that he was a pioneer on over-mold -- long before MVP. Although, MVP perfected it. But Steve's over-mold discs floated. So there is that!

Bought an epic when they came out, back when I first started disc golfing. Still have it and i's in pretty good shape, because it didn't get much use lol. I wish I had kept more of my older discs from back then. Crazy to think that when I started, the Beast had just came out, and it was the fastest disc in Innovas lineup (Valkyrie was still the record holder for distance). Star plastic wasn't even a thing. You had DX for the beginners and some pros, Pro plastic was considered the go to for pros because of its glide and grip, and Champion was just the work horse durable plastic. The price hasn't even changed much either. A tie Dye champion or Z plastic was $20-25 depending on where you bought it.

5/12! I actually got that Sportiner starter set off of Amazon as my first set of discs. They aren't bad discs, but not very beginner friendly.
They're VERY weird though, definitely manufactured by XCOM. The ones with fish names use old XCOM names and stamps, but for different speed discs then what XCOM used. For example, the Sportiner Grampus is a putter while the XCOM Grampus was a midrange!
The company also uses XCOM's new names and stamps switched around the same way. They sell both sets as a starter set for around $40. Super strange!

I also used to putt with a graboide, it's a fantastic putter with a real odd bead. I also own a Relic that's been thrown very little. The overmolding was actually more of a rubber. Kinda late to the party but I'm actually a big fan of Daredevil Discs. Got my first ace with their Walrus Mid.

My buddy pulled out his disc golf bag from the late 90's/ early 00's and we found an innova Monarch and Wolf. The wolf is basically a Rhino top mold and a Roc bottom mold.
The Monarch has a weird semicircle notch removed from the flight plate.
Keep an eye open for both!

When I was younger I had a bunch of discs from Lightning discs, I actually have a disc that is about 95% dimples with a dead Bart Simpson stamp on it called the grateful dude, it’s the only disc I ever seen like it

Grew up in Oregon, that where I started DG at champoeg state park disc golf. I had the Relic and Graboid. Very firm, odd disc even as a new player, I just like they were local, now lost or donated years ago.

head of 2 of the 12 discs in the "never heard of" category. If you're looking for crazy under stable, throw a Divergent Tiyanik

3: I own a Griffon. Found it on Infinite discs a few years back. Great beginner disc.
I have seen Foundation use the Grampus. And I have heard of the Duchess because I got my mom a Baron. Underrated plastic.
P.S. Lat 64's overmolded discs are underrated as heck

There WAS a Quarter K 1! The 2 was more of what we consider something like Star or ESP plastic, and it was flippier than the original QK. The original one was a SUPER interesting disc to throw - it was, if I remember correctly, the PhD thesis for its inventor. It was essentially unaffected by wind. Like freakily so. It was slightly overstable for a distance driver. It's big flaw, and what led to the QK2's development, is that the plastic wouldn't ding when you hit a tree. It would bubble up a BIG section of the top of the disc. Like 3 inches on either side of the tree hit would suddenly have the weirdest extra dome. Once the whole top of the disc became domey like that, it would essentially become too flippy to use. Until then though? Super nice.
