Truth
I loved his performance. That was a tough year, though - so many good performances. Denzel didn’t even get a nod either for Philadelphia. I’d say he should have been nominated for sure but I always thought as far as winning that year - should have been either Ralph Fiennes or Leo.
One of the most famous but also underrated roles in movie history. Everyone knows and loves it but for some reason it's looked over when discussing best acting performances

Well, Kilmer certainly gave an Oscar-worthy performance; one of my all-time favorites. And he had all of the best lines. But I think the movie itself was not that good. Were there separate writers for his character?

@@joeharley5868 Apparently the movie was close to being scrapped but Kurt Russel pretty much saved it by putting his own money and basically directed the movie himself although there were a few other directors which is probably why some scenes are better than others
Doc Holiday is exactly like the coworker who comes in sick, walks around the office coughing and touching everything then proclaims they're not contagious.
I had bronchitis at work for 2 months and was totally the Doc. My boss had no problem with it.
He’s not contagious, it’s just the sniffles.
In high school I had a teacher who always bragged that he'd never missed a day in 40 years of teaching. Yeah, 'cause he'd come in sick and spreading it to everyone else. Then he'd complain about the sick students staying home. The guy was a putz.
He also assigned homework every day. Then he'd collect it and throw it in the trash. You didn't get a grade for doing it but you'd get an F if you didn't.

The sets for this show sometimes blow me away. This is live, and we get these massive elaborate sets for a bunch of sketches in a row. The makeup, costume and sets team is just amazing.

I couldn’t disagree more. He was very human. A sadly terminally ill man who had few friends but would do anything for those friends. How can you feel sympathy towards a horror character?
@@Pad13 I was using hyperbole. You say that you can't feel sympathy for horror characters. Have you seen Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, or The Wolfman? They feature characters who become monsters after unfortunate circumstances. They never ask for what happens to them.

Everybody talks about Val Kilmer portrayal, but after I saw Denis Quaid's version and it was so eerie how much he looked like the real Doc Holiday, his portrayal left us all in profound awe.
Yeah..I agree the real doc holiday was more rough hewn than val's portrayal...Great, but not accurate...Hollywood "sugared" his character up for mainstream appeal.
Both were good.
I prefer Quaid’s version, as well. Val’s was Hollywood’s imagination of Doc, Quaid’s was Doc.
