Definitely went for the more commercial and touristy wineries. Also, no one has EVER claimed that Mike Grgich was the father of high-end Napa winemaking. That designation goes to André Tchelistcheff.

Well done, Grgich is a must visit for all the reasons you said

Montelana used fruit from Sonoma to make the 73 Chardonnay

Chardonnay in Bordeaux style? There is no Chardonnay grown in Bordeaux.

Fly in??? How do you get your wine home? I need to always drive because I'm usually bootlegging 8-10 cases back from a trip.

We live in Alabama, so we can’t have it shipped directly to our house. But the wineries will ship it to our local package/state/ABC store and we pay a tax. A case of 12 bottles will usually cost around $3 in tax. We belong to several clubs and they all ship to the package store.

@@thetimelesstravelers2460 Try living in Utah. They only passed a new law this year that "allows" us to have our wine shipped directly to the State ABC stores for pickup, but with an 88% tax.
Yes, you read that right, 88% tax. During the Nazi occupation of France they imposed a 40% tax on wine. Meaning, the mormons that control the government in Utah are literally twice as bad as actual, historical Nazis.
I would kill to only pay 25 cents a bottle for tax. Hence, why we drive and bootleg in Utah.

Holy Moly! I knew that UT and AL were the only 2 states that didn't allow wine to be shipped directly to the home, but I had no idea the tax was that much. Our son lives in Salt Lake and whenever we visit we go directly to the package to pick up a few bottles for dinner. 88% is insane!

Good video, bad sound. The music was way too loud.

Agreed. This was the very first video we released and we were very early in the process of learning to edit. I do hope we have improved over time!
