Best we can do is central Finland in January. We gotta put Estonia somewhere deep in the forest where the Finnish traffic police aren’t looking so you won’t get a ticket for parking your country without paying.
Gotta say I’m not the biggest fan of this translation, it sacrifices meaning for keeping the rhythm. Also sounds much more formal and stiff than the original. But it is a nice cover, skilled choir.
Yeah, it's filled with more fevor than the Norwegian version. The Norwegian version is more somber and thought provoking, wheras this version is too intense. And using the word "Norsemen" is inaccurate in lieu of "Norwegians", and calling Norway for "her" is just wrong (as we use the term "fatherland).
The Indonesian National Anthem Indonesia Raya is also translated in English by someone. I don't know who do it, but be happy that Indonesia will be famous in the world and heaven.
Pretty sure this was made by Sissel (Norwegian singer) and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but don't know the reason why she sang the anthem with them. Maybe for the benefit of all the Norwegian-Americans in the U.S.?
It's taken from a recording of the song in both Norwegian and English by the Norwegian mezzo-soprano Sissel Kyrkjebø and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (formerly known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir). I'm not, however, sure why they sung it in English: maybe it's to symbolize the friendship between the United States and Norway.
Damn, without the lyrics I thought this was norwegian 😂 (as a non norwegian speaker) (Wait is Norwegian even a language ??) (Bokmal ?) (Oh quit it I don't know)
I've been looking for the lyrics of this version for over 10 years! Thank you so much for the find!! I'm very happy now!! :)

Weird that I have a birthday with Norway
I’m confused, what’s this for? English speaking norwegians? Or anthem enthusiasts like me?

What is the context of it being in English? Is this an American thing?
