The summerlin REI also has the new guidebook, only a couple copies left after I got myself a copy on Saturday. The Henderson REI does not carry it jfyi. Also thank you Miguel for all the great content, additional 8 hours of editing on top of your architect job is no small task.
I am a travel RN and worked at UMC and lived in my van back in 2016, and I climbed at Refuge. When you are full timing vaning, a gym is a more then just a place to climb and train. It's your community hub, your den, your place to shower and stretch. Between travel nursing and coaching at the beginning of the century, I've been to... jebus, dozens and dozens of gyms, and Refuge really stood out for it good setting, open, well ventilated layout, and nice staff. It struck that perfect balence of authentic dirt bag foundation (if I recall corectedly the founders are a chill couple from Moab area?) and being clean and functioning w/o being sterile. So, long-ass comment just to say: Refuge is great, and as my partner and I look for desert communities as we migrate away from the PNW, Vegas again and again feels like the right answer. Thanks for the great video!
Nice one Jerimiah! I started climbing at the Refuge back in '16. It's been my home gym since. Sadly the owners Jeff and Mary Beth sold it and live in SLC. But they sold it to the best possible person to keep the magic alive, Coach Justin! Who's been there since the very beginning. Hope to see ya around one day.
It’s like you read my mind with this video! My wife and I are moving to Vegas in a couple months, and I’ve also been keenly awaiting the release of the new bouldering guide book. Excited to be out there! Great vid as always!
Unfortunately Tacos El Gordo here in SD was the spot for tacos but the prices just kept going up and up, I agree that its a bit overrated for the price but man, that adobada is so good.
Awesome video, Miguel! Thanks for the sacrifice to make these great videos, even though I'm sure you're making millions through CZcams with rocking videos like these ;)
No complaining about the heat this summer we've been much worse in Texas lol. I've been escaping to Vegas all summer to climb to climb in the cooler weather.
I used to go to the original chiringuito Tacos El Gordo in Otay Mesa, San Diego in 2019 before Covid: super cheap and best tacos I've ever had. Tortillas were fresh made in front of you; with 12 bucks you would get up to 4 tacos and leave happy without feeling over stuffed... whomever complained about the tacos being small were just Americans used to gigantic unnecessary portions made with substandard ingredients. Tacos el gordo was the real deal like you would get in Mexico. That TEG in Vegas looks like a big industrial franchise, oversized prices and not so fresh looking tacos. Yes, I hate Vegas, I'm glad I left the only thing I'm missing is Red Rock during the winter and trolling the rain-nazis on FB Vegas Climbers 😹
My dude Miguel is living the good life!
Loved it 🙌
Bro! You're the inspiration! I want to be like Ozzy when I grow up. Las Vegas is lucky to have you in the community 🙌🇲🇽
