  • The first update of 2022! Let's get the party started! When it comes to HardOps, moments of reflection and internal improvement is needed to keep things flowing well with the current of changes happening within Blender itself. The transition to 3.0 changed quite a few systems and created untold amounts of new glitches. Our current work aims to remaster and improve hops to a level capable of going on for another extended term. We hope users are enjoying this latest update.
    Release Playlist: • Hard Ops
    When it comes to learning HardOps / Boxcutter there are a couple of paths.
    Cylinoids represent a well rounded demonstration of HOPScutter in the context of Cylinoids.

    When it comes to learning via subdivision and topological solving there is a playlist for that.

    A playlist exists of all the videos related to Hopscutter on my main channel.

      @@masterxeon1001 playing with Fusion 360 the last 2 weeks. Fast for basic shapes using constrained sketches. But when just need to extrude along a normal to make a shape, no joy.

    Man you're source code is remarkable. The way it's structured and modulated, I can't imagine how much thought went in to allow it to be so malleable with the amount of functionality it provides. Would you ever be interested in releasing a tutorial series for scripting large scale addons like this?

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten halfway through a feature just to realize how much better it could be implemented if I just re-wrote the whole script. Gives me headaches just thinking about it. Much respect to what you and the team have accomplished. Bought your addon twice.. Keep at it!

    Do you think HardOps would be useful for someone larger interested in modeling for 3D printing?

      sure, it has helped me with my share of printing.
      However working for print is a discipline of the user and not a responsibility of the tool. Theoretically any tool is useful for 3d printing.

    I've recently been watching your videos. I have a question. You've recently done a lot of subdivision modeling. Is it superior to "ngon modeling" or is it only for practice? I can see how subd is useful for organic forms, but I think it is way more difficult to model everything with subd.

      If you get a job in the games industry, you should know how to model both ways as sometimes you might get a request to model static props or geometry that will be animated.
      If all you're looking forward is the round edge baking workflow, you really shouldn't care about your topology as long as shapes are well defined, flat faces are flat and curved surfaces have their curvature well defined.

      client can have a variety of requests when it comes to working with others. A popular request is subdivision capable geometry to keep the mesh software agnostic. Also understanding additional disciplines assist with being able to model additional things and solve additional problems.

    Hey just a heads up MasterXeon. I have the most recent blender and the most recent hardops, and DICE doesn't work anymore. It works in 2.93 but not 3.0 or 3.1. Are you aware of this bug? If not, I'm just bringing it to your attention. the error message is something like "no other selected edges have wire or boundary options" I'm paraphrasing.
    Currently, it just leaves an undeletable set of dices that don't apply to the object
