I notice in all the tutorials I've watched of yours so far, you randomly pick a size (and place) for a cutter when you do Boolean cuts. I'm guessing simply to show the tools functionality. Bevels too. When creating a Bevel (CTRL B) I can adjust for the "width" ( hypotenuse ) in the pop-up menu in the lower left, but there is no where to set it X inches from an edge. I gotta pull out my calculator and solve for the length of one of the legs. What about modeling from an engineering drawing? If you have an odd shaped object and you want to cut a hole in it at a specific location 2 3/8" from one edge and 3 7/8" from another? Do you simple use the snap tools to move it to a vert, then use G> X> 2.375 and G>Y> 3.875 or is there an add-on to give designers more precision? If I'm designing a part for someone to 3D print, it has to be accurate. Thanks Kenn
i dont model from blueprints, so i dont really care about measurements. You could try using hoardops acucut, but for engineering stuff you are better off with CAD mate.
@@PonteRyuurui From looking at your AWESOME models, I'm guessing you stick to game asset modeling.... I'll google precision modeling for Blender and let u know if I find anything. I ran 3DS Max for 20+ years. Got tired of paying annual fees so I'm learning Blender. At 62, there's still some creative juices in me. :) You are one talented dude! I can't imaging how many hours you put in.... You make it look so easy. I'll need to check out some of Josh's tutorials. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
@@kennmacintosh2627 Well, mostly concepts and courses. I just like to have freedom when modeling. Blender is not really for precise measurement modeling, but maybe there are some addons out there. Like I said, CAD is your friend here. You can always bring it back into Blender. Age is just a number man, keep smashing! Best in 2023.
Great refresher Ryuurui. Thank you for that. Question though, when you box cut from off-surface, do you have to be in ortho view? I'm on 2.91 and my success in ngon cutting that way is still random. Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't and the ngon line flies all over the place (alignment - object mode).
I knew four of these, so this was very useful. Also, when you make the booleans at @4:25 how did you set it up so that their shapes are visible inside edit mode even though you didn't apply them? Usually switching to the main object in edit mode displays a solid face where the boolean is live.
@@PonteRyuurui sure. No idea how to join a discord. It seems for me that this is like some kind of secret underground club u can’t just join :) Can’t find any link for the group.

You bet!
this tutorials are pure gold! Thank you!
cheers mate!
Blender bros course is amazing packed with just the right information on these products
Cheers, Martin! Great to hear!
Ponte Ryuurui just bought mesh machine today I thought I had bought it. That was mesh machine tools
@@Martin-ll7jc The addons are Machine Tools and Mesh Machine, there is no Mesh Machine Tools.

better to be always in perspective with snap grid

those cuts are in solid mode, maybe it looks like edit because i cut fast and all you see is cutter wireframes
It's a 2.92 thing, if you're using the stable 2.90 version it wont be like that
@@zoki87 ah, I see. Yeah, I'm still on 2.90. Thanks!
@@zoki87 2.9 is garbage

is it bad or good that i already knew them from ur courses :^)
lol
The 2nd radial array trick does not work at side of a mesh ie. a cube.
drop vid on the hops discord mate, i am not sure what you are trying to say
