    great car man. seriously. tons of people do too much to these cars, but keeping it stock and just upgrading the small things goes a long way. Great stuff

    Thanks for sharing this video. I'm glad to know how reliable it is. I don't plan to track or do performance mods at all. Just something to drive to work and a bit of errands. The only mods I plan to do will be ascetic. I too would prefer automatic because I'm not at the age anymore to care to shift around. Cheers mate! Glad yours is still going well!

    I still have my FRS RS1 TRD and still loved it to pieces ,had for 8 yrs now and still gling strong and still looks so pretty , no issues at all and just regular maintainance. Il upgrade later on to MK5. Its pretty attractive car and very appealing to all onlookers.

      That’s awesome man! I love the quad tip exhaust on those/ TRD body kit. In all honesty man you should keep it for as long as you can because they’re really something special.

    Enjoyed the video, I was wondering where did you buy the TRD front lip? I’m looking to buy one for my FRS, as I recently did the front end swap

    • @JOSHFRS

      I got it off a wrecked 86 I found locally, but if I were to buy it again I’d look on eBay I’ve seen some on there the fitment looks good on those. Hope this helps!

    how do you like the shifts in manual mode (and in manual mode with sports mode)?

  • @Elite2832
    @Elite2832 Před 8 měsíci

    Much like the Honda Civic Type R I think the brz/86 platform should of only come in a manual option. Its a real shame that you are missing out on one of the key components that make these cars such a joy to drive. That being said I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking to get into the modding scene as parts are plentiful and cheap and there is so much for these cars from wheels to suspension, boost kits and more. I have had my 86 since 2017 and its been a super reliable and fun daily driver not to mention its pretty good on gas too.

    i got a question since it the car is the same as brz and 86 and i heard brz have crickets noise and i research it and it seen that noise is pretty common thing so i was wondering if 86 or frs have the same problem cuz im looking into buying brz

    • @JOSHFRS
      @JOSHFRS  Před 9 měsíci

      The crickets are a common noise in the frs, brz, 86 nothing bad mechanically it’s just the fuel pump it’s kind of loud in these cars. I have the crickets but it’s normal across all the twins!

  • @KennyFromthaA

    Can’t decide between this or the IS350

    • @StrikerVx1
      @StrikerVx1 Před 13 dny +1

      Depends why you want. The twins is more of a drivers car, lighter, and better handling. The 350 is great for daily driving, more comfortable for long trips, but is a luxury car first, sports car second. The handling isn’t the best and it’s heavy as hell. And the power doesn’t help combat that weight. But it does sound better. For me personally, the twins would be better. I love the handling and the driver focus it has, but a 350 is better if you’re not worried about that and just want a nice looking car that will comfortably get you places.

    I’m thinking of getting one also an auto do you think any experience is being missed not having the manual?

    • @JOSHFRS
      @JOSHFRS  Před rokem +3

      In all honesty it depends on what you want
      Do you want to learn how to drive manual? Then yes I think it’s worth it I’m going to manual swap it soon.
      I’ve driven a manual Frs and it feels more responsive you’re more in control of the car than with a auto
      But if you just want a daily to get you around auto is fine I like the auto trans it hasn’t given me any issues at all. It is a Toyota trans so it’ll last a while but it does not take the sportiness out of the car. it does handle well around corners and it performs similar to the manual, it also has paddle shifters if you want to shift gears.
      Either or are amazing options it’s your personal preference man! Thanks for stopping by.

    • @Inter_Tidal
      @Inter_Tidal Před 11 měsíci +4

      You can pick an auto if it works for you but getting 86/BRZ without manual kinda just defeats the purpose of the car to me personally. If you live in the city or have lots of traffic I can understand but I drive my manual BRZ in SF and I'm in traffic. Still wouldn't drive an auto version; I'd rather shift in traffic and do inclines than sacrifice the fun of the manual gearbox in this vehicle. As OP said though it depends on you.

    • @davidgomez5116
      @davidgomez5116 Před 10 měsíci

      With a manual your more inclined to race everywhere even to grandma's house. With an auto you don't feel like your driving a straight track car and you'll find that your more inclined to behave and get less speeding tickets which is definitely a bonus to auto trans vehicles.

  • @tantotopps
    @tantotopps Před 8 měsíci

    genuine question, why do people say the frs is worse than the brz or 86 if its the same car more or less? is it the fact that it says "scion" so people stay away?

    • @JOSHFRS
      @JOSHFRS  Před 8 měsíci

      Well I’d say that they’re legit both the same, I think it was the stigma behind scion and that it’s basically a dead brand. (Toyota) it’s still the brz with a bumper and emblem swap. Same quality of parts between the two.

    You lost my viewership & reapect when you started to defend your [incorrect] choice to buy the auto. I drove 32 miles to work daily in Dallas traffic in a manual. Unless you're physically disabled, there's no excuse to buy the a light weight low power drivers' car without the deivers' transmission
