This version stayed in his performance catalog after this one. This song really hits the spot on a cool and grey looking day outside. Now to grab a cocktail and listen to this masterpiece again. It seems sad at times that he's no longer with us in life, but fortunately we have many a memory of him performing and making us smile, feel the music, love and laugh. Thanks Bryan you're a god man my friend.
This reboot made the song essential for the remainder of his concerts from a song that had become tired. An absolute highlight of the later shows

I get a tear in my eyes watching this. I'm very fortunate to have seen Prince's entire career from when he was 18 until he died. I tear up because there's nobody else like him. Ever. And come to the realization that he's actually gone and you can never see this again. Blessed to have seen him in concert twice. Was in the front row during the 1999 tour. Best concert I've ever seen. This 2009 Montroux concert was amazing. He was one of a kind.

This is what I always loved about Prince, he could update his songs with the technology of the day, and also change the arrangements and make them even better than the original! 👍🏻💜
I love this version and the original. I was tearing up during this. You can always feel his emotions in songs. It’s also sad to realize he isn’t here anymore. I think I speak for many when I say I thought he’d still be playing at 90. I love your reactions keep up the great work Bryan.

55 yr old guy here who was lucky enough to see him in 1991 at MSG, Love Sexy tour. On that tour he didn’t strip it down like this, but it was still the most spiritual and intimate experience I’ve ever had in a group setting, bar none - any concert, church, or tribute. Only thing closer is the most intimate moment with that rarest of most vulnerable partners - but I digress. I have dusted off my piano and now wish to try this at the keys - not the leading the crowd piece, and none of the talent of the maestro, but as a tribute nonetheless. Thanks for your heartfelt reaction.
Long time Prince fan and rabid consumer of his content on CZcams. This performance here is the one that always hits me hard not matter how many times I listen to it. His guitar work and melody here just punches the soul. He left behind so many treasures for us to enjoy over and over.

I saw him 30 times, met him in 2004 and each concert was something different. He always was evolving. Glad u could appreciate him now. He was something we will never see again

I feel the same! Watching him, you feel like you’re there with him 💜 then you realise he’s gone 😢 I end up in tears quite a lot! Such a special human he was…the world is cruel that such an amazing man was taken far too early 🥺 x
Try not to feel sad Bryan. Feeling for a second like you were there would probably be exactly the kind of Xperience Prince would want you to have--and especially so, as you have often expressed a desire to have seen him while he was here in the physical world. In the 1990s, Prince was telling his fans/fams that Time was a trick, an artificial construct; For this performance, he was playing for you watching in November 2022, in addition to that audience in 2009 when this was recorded. His masterful guitar work, and inspired reimagining of a classic, transported your consciousness through space and time to be there, even if just for a moment.... Let that thought bring you some Joy. He would want that for you. Just because he exists in spirit now, doesn't mean we have lost the ability to connect with him.

Thats always the saddest thing after the music stops,The realisation that the wonderful talent and force we knew as prince is no longer with us,And it's lovely that u mentioned u feel like ur there with him,As prince said about himself,Never b another like me,Oh how true!!Still as raw as the day it snowed in April in 2016,We all miss him and the more that gets seen U realise the mastery and command he had on stage and musicianship,My brother u keep up the wonderful thing u do And thats make all around the world happy in whatever artist u review and show love to,And do u Its ur channel and if people want to criticise,Then they can watch the video elsewhere,U share ur thoughts and thats what a review channel is,Thats what makes ur audience feel closer to u as its like talking to a good friend.

Even watching a performer like that can still make you feel like you’re in the room ❤️. I marvel at players who are skilled like that at using a whammy bar. At tires it sounded like a corvettes v engine powering up and tires screeching.

Its usually hard for me to keep my eye on the reaction vs Prince...not this time! Call me strange, but I really do enjoy watching the effect, or what Prince brings out in people (especially musicians and other artsy types). However, I have already seen this Montreux 2009 footage several times...I know it by💜, lol.

I feel and share your sentiments my freind, in some way i resent myself for not taking the time and effort to go watch Prince perform live while he was with us. Prince was too great to be true! it almost feels like Prince shouldnt have been possible! And my freind i think the lighting of ur setup makes u look too warm, too orangy, that blueish/purplelish look u had was on the money!!! a song potentially about fast sex becomes a song called "slow down". but it is still the same song and it is still very powerfull. and credible. time goes by. something remains. it takes something from the original. maybe the core of the original. hands up
This version is a fitting bookend to the extended remix of Corvette. The famous extended "Mayday" version ends with high energy vocals, while the Montreux "Slow Down" version slides into silence as a coda. Also, there's 2 versions of this song on the 2009 set.
