Thanks for the info, there's hope for us, long-haulers, got COVID back in November 13 with mild symptoms but a week later I felt really weird like I was gonna pass out and since that day I been feeling dizzy, lightheaded, anxiety and weird palpitations every day, day and night, the first two weeks were the worst I thought I was going to die because of fast palpitations and intense head
aches at the same time, I went to the ER and everything came back normal, wasn't able to work for one month I though I was goin to loose my job because of my dizziness and headaches, so the fifth week I decided to go back to work and felt really bad still but you know, bills cant wait. Now my dizziness, headaches and palpitations are not as bad. every day is different, but even when I'm watching a movie I get anxiety and start getting palpitations so I have to get up and do something else to distract my brain, hopefully I get better with time, I read that it could go away between 2 to 6 months, sometimes I feel really sad because i start thinking that could be my new life dealing with all this awful symptoms :( Only time will tell.

Reading these comments have helped me immensely. I have come a long way overcoming the covid virus but still struggle with some fatigue, sense of taste is completely off, dizziness is almost gone as is the heart palpitations. It's been going on 3 months now. Did not vaccinate, have not been to the Dr yet. Began B12, zinc, and VitD about 8 months before I was exposed to covid. I'm getting better everyday and giving my body time to heal itself. Looks like it may take a while. Nothing, with the exception of the little Halo oranges tastes good to me. It bothers me to try and eat a meal and not have any desire for it. I do plan on a Dr visit soon. God bless to those struggling. I believe you will get better, you know your body. I have post covid symtoms still. I had covid in august 2021. I did find chewing Wrigley's spearment gum helps make the covid cough go away. Good protein helps with the shaking. The more you build up the protein in your body the better. Also I use collagen peptides, tart cherry, and ginger for inflammation and pain. I lost most of my hair and the peptides do help it grow back. Also saw palmetto helps with hair growth. Garlic is also a very good anti-inflammatory. I say these things because a lot of people like myself cannot take or react to pharmaceutical medications. I do better on herbs and natural food. It takes longer but worth it, because there's no reactions or side affects. It's worked for me, I hope these things work for other people as well.

So far I'm on 8 medications and a supplement but my quality of life is still pretty crappy, not anyone's fault it's just how it goes sometimes. It's super frustrating to keep struggling with this and having symptoms for so long but therapy has been getting me cope. Groups aren't my thing but it's great they help others. I've no clue if this could be helpful to you or not. 18 yrs ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury. I lost a great deal of cognitive & memory ability. For 2 yrs, I wasn't "myself" (words are inadequate), though I appeared to pretty much function just fine. However my family began to notice I'd changed since prior to the accident. Then at that 2 yr mark it was as if a switch had been flipped & I even said aloud in the moment "I'm back!". I had some pretty severe brain fog with covid. It was eerily similar to right after my accident, too similar.....and in some ways worse. I'm at the end of week 4 and it was just a few days ago most of the fog lifted, though I still have cognitive & memory issues. My brain fog was literally an altered state of mind, not just clouded thinking sort of thing. I was what I call "here but not here". Makes me wonder what this virus was doing inside my brain. Meanwhile, shortness of breath continues, chest pain, cognitive/memory issues, and the virus damaged my heart.......and I have stomach/bowel issues. Not to mention that gawd awful fatigue that is as if someone drugged you. My dr tells me I'll be out of work for likely at least 2 more months, probably longer depending on what the cardiologist needs to do. However, even with the other issues, it's the brain fog that disturbs me the most........because I keep wondering what the virus was doing to brain cells/connections to have caused the same state of mind as a traumatic brain injury.

I think it’s the wrong approach to treat each symptom separately. It’s all the same underlying process - inflammation, plus stuck in “fight or flight”. If you can get yourself back in to “rest and digest” your body will heal. You don’t even need medication for this. No body systems work properly in constant fight or flight. And the body doesn’t know that the medical profession separates it into different systems. It works as a whole.

I sat in the garden every morning, to get some morning light and the benefits of nature. In the beginning I had 2 naps per day, and then just one, so I didn’t push myself too far. I just slowly nudged myself forward. I listened to a yoga nidra (check it out on CZcams) every day. I did breathing exercises whenever I felt overwhelmed (4,7,8 breathing). I had a bath (not too hot) every night before I went to bed. Above all, I was very kind to myself. I spoke to myself as if I was a small child who needed comforting. I told myself “You can do this” every day. I celebrated even tiny amounts of progress. I didn’t beat myself up if I went wrong somewhere. When I felt a bit better, I added in probiotics. I did my best to eliminate things that would put me into fight of flight. I deleted social media (especially the long covid support groups - they were too negative and people kept reporting scary new studies), I didn’t watch the news (I had to concentrate on myself for a bit). I tried not to speak harshly to myself. Whenever I felt fear about the future, I tried to visualise a lovely future (this was difficult at first but soon my brain went with it). When I stated to exercise, I just walked for 5 mins every second day. Then after a week I increased to 10 mins every second day, and so on. My symptoms would get worse again briefly with every increase, but then settle down again. When I went back to work I had a very slow phased return. I am now fully recovered. I'm a woman in my 70's and have been taking fluoxitine for about 35 years....PMS treatment at first and can't get off it now. I have had 2 Pfizer shots. With the first, I had electric shock feeling down both my legs and arms...followed by a terrible neck ache...then terrible headache...fatigue followed and is still a major complaint. I have difficult breathing only when I have to wear a mask for an extended period....air travel. I have had several tests for COVID because of travel and I show negative results. Is there a study for those who are on fluoxitite or have been the drug for sometime. Can it possible prevent catching COVID? I had no real reaction with my second shot except continued fatigue and breathing difficulty with a mask....about 9 months ago...but because of my the fatigue and breathing difficulties I am not willing to take the booster. Again, I would be curious of any studies on those who are on fluoxitine. Thank you for your information and I hope to hear from you.

I don't go out much as the cylinders are heavy to carry, I get very depressed & my GP told me 2 weeks ago that I have permanent lung damage & will possibly need oxygen the rest of my life.......... I had covid Dec 21 and have a pretty rough time with it, but overcame the acute infection by day 10. Got back to life and felt 90-95% for about 4 months, thought it was going to be all up from there. I foolishly went back to my doctor for an unrelated issue and was prescribed Doxy (antibiotic) which I believe totally destroyed my gut. 2 weeks later had some intense belching, bloating, GI issues. Started again from my gut and then I started to get all of the symptoms back. Extreme fatigue, brain fog, muscle twitching, headaches, high HR, palpitations and the unshakable GI issues. That’s pretty much where I’m at now. I’m thinking the theory of long haulers already having bad gut health pre-infection makes them susceptible to LC is likely true. Yes Vitamin D helps a lot especial for muscle pain. But what helped most for me was some info I came across regarding histamine intolerance with the indication that antihistamines could help (by taking 2 per day till symptoms relieve. DR Tina Peters on line). I called it "overload " Started on the antihistamines and it didn't take long to relieve some of the symptoms especially the skin rashes and hives I got after the first vaccine shot. Secondly I had a craving for oranges and found some other info about the effects of Vitamin C . So also started a supplement. This helped the fatigue immensely. What persists is the lung scarring and shortness of breath from any exertion. Some other info has suggested Vitamin E with tocotrionols helps repair lungs so have started on these. I doubt there is any one magic pill for everything but tackling symptoms works.

But, one thing that I have noticed that makes my depression and anxiety worse is reading stories of other long haulers online! They are mostly negative, because in those Facebook groups people just want to get things off their chest. You just read the worst stories that will probably never apply to us. And also: you never read stories of recovery, because those people just move on with their life.
So, here is some positive news! 1 Some of my symptoms are gone, like my brain fog (it's amazing to be able to think straight lol). 2 There's good days inbetween the bad days. 3 Mindfulness exercises work. 4 Going off the internet works for my anxiety. 5 We don't know much about the virus yet, so we'll probably be better some day!!

"Long haul COVID" is seen in people who have had mild or moderate or severe COVID-19, and the numbers are largely unpredictable. That makes evaluation of anybody but the immediate patient nearly impossible. Wild variability is a hallmark of this maddening disease.

@@flagmichael What annoys me, 18 months in this, is the absolute REFUSAL of the authorities (at least in the US) to track any data on treated vs untreated patients. Because the dogma is that nothing works (vitamins, steroids, monoclonal antibodies, forbidden repurposed drugs, etc.) no data is available to give us a sense of what the hell is going on. I cannot find even data on long covid in vaccinated people (who supposedly only get mild disease). :(

Almost 7 months post covid, still having heart palpitations. The racing heart finally stopped but still have palpitations. Cardiologist said everything looks ok. Also have burning hands and feet, numbing and tingling in my limbs, prickling feeling in my back and the back of my head, headaches, blurry vision, etc. my doctor keeps saying they don’t know. I finally just got a referral for a neurologist after almost 7 months post covid.

I completely disagree that vaccines are helpful for long Covid. I received the Moderna vaccine after a bad Covid infection and have been much worse ever since. I’ve had debilitating migraines and the only thing that has helped is Gabapentin prescribed by a Neurologist. I also can no longer tolerate any alcohol. I’m finding that a lot of rest and reducing stress is very helpful. I still work out a lot, but I allow for lots of naps.

You might ask ENTs (ear, nose, throat doctors) if they can treat your sense of taste. There is a retraining procedure for the same distortion of smells. It is fairly lengthy but can be done at home. For the freezing, your GP can have a thyroid measurement included in your next blood test. However, low thyroid is associated with inability to _lose_ weight rather than inability to gain it.
      I wish you the best!

What I have now is: Brain fog, visual and hearing problems like heavy, disoriented strong, pressure on my head, sometimes the floor feels like it's shaking for example I could not go and run right now outside I would fall but in the gym on the treadmill it's okay. I don't have body symptoms no more like pain fatigue strength speed and all is back only my head is like really fucked up and it's hell. It fucking feels like something infiltrated my head and lives up there fucking virus what kind of virus is that that it can fucks up you're brain and body

Sounds similar to me. I don’t even want to talk about this it’s traumatic. I had it Nov 2020. I still get anxiety and depression and am still on sertraline 100mg . Had long covid . Was like torture . Anyway it does for me go away but extremely slowly . Every two months there is an improvement . Oh and yes I feel that my brain was attacked by the virus and the immune system has troubles getting it out of me

What worked for me, to some degree, was suggested by my neurologist for all these crazy brain sensations/pressure, etc. SlowMag (slow release magnesium - can by over the counter) & Vitamin B2 Riboflavin for migraines (which i didn't have headaches so much as nerve pain/sensations on head). Both helped to some degree. Also Amitriptyline Hcl 10 MG Tab (one nightly) prescribed by neurologist helped with some stress/tension head stuff that goes on. Going back for more advice though next week as now i have the head sensation with burning ears and rashes. Good luck.

I received all vaccines plus the booster. Had mild Covid October 21, 3 weeks later had heart attack. Had booster November 21 then started to develop symptoms - weakness in muscles, brain fog, fatigue never ending. Thinking it was the heart medication I have stopped all pills except aspirin and I am taking vitamin d, magnesium and a multi vitamin to see if symptoms improve. After 3 weeks lower leg tension and weakness has improved slightly, brain fog slightly better, fatigue overtakes me every day. I am inclined to think self healing is the way forward. Doctor doesn’t have answers except anti depressant and I don’t agree.
