- A lone wanderer travelling the desolate wasteland happens across a strange distress message asking for someone's help. Is it genuine or is it a trap?
This is a short fan film based on the 'Fallout' VG series, it was made with a small crew in South Australia. If you enjoy this film please like, comment and share it as much as you can as we have a feature film script that would be the perfect 'Fallout' film. First we need a lot of support and recognition to make that happen.
Enjoy.
You've lost karma!!!
Lol don't worry that can easily be gained back..if you wish
Why are people pissed that he killed the kid? He was dying slowly and painfully and the guy killed him out of mercy and kindness so he wouldn't suffer anymore.
For 200 years after apocalypse, these characters sure do have a lot of brand new store-bought clothes, shoes and packs. I'm always looking for stuff which looks hand-made and anything not hand-made to be antique and worn in post-apocalyptic tales. I realise making your own clothes or shoes isn't something they teach in school, but it shouldn't be that expensive. It's a problem with the games as well, actually, because it seems like only raiders are using home-made gear, and then just for a corny Mad Max look. Other than that, good work. Give Detroit, Flint and Cleveland some income using their post-asset-stripping apocalypse environments for post-nuclear apocalypse film-making.
While I agree with you at heart, and that comment has come out of my mouth more than a few times... If things are sealed properly, they can last in near pristine condition. They have found organic cloth (full bolts ect...) several hundred years old that was sealed in things that air could not get in. So finding a newish looking pair of boots that were sealed would be viable. AND if it is synthetic, then even more so. Also, As someone who makes leather stuff and costuming, handmade boots can look just like modern machine made, clothing as well. So, that does not bother me. My family also has a few rifles passed down going back to both the revolutionary and the civil war, (US) and they have been very well cared for and look like they are not very old.
My family also has several rifles from WW1 and WW2 that look near new. Well cared for stuff can look nice for a long time.
Just saying.
@@robredfeather8731 Thank you! True, indeed. Not to mention i think a lot of commenters think this is just a random post-apocalyptic short. They've never played the #Fallout game series 😐
This was so atmospheric, loved the realistic take on Fallout. Do more!
The ending destroyed my liking for the main character. I like to try to convince myself that the boy was dying or hurt too badly to be saved, and that he put the kid out of his misery. Rather than just being desperate and selfish.
That kid was done for, also could have been a trap. Corpse before the kid was a goner. Didn't you hear the rad levels ticking? I'd of killed and looted the bodies too. At least the lone survivor lives to see another day. Can't help other's unless you help yourself first.
@@lisaslay-z8342 so nobody carries rad x or radaway with them anymore? those are vital, he surely had some and couldve helped
A good little story that shows us how we tend to spend too many skillpoints in guns and not enough in medicine :p
Decent videography and scene setting. The ending set the emotional piece for the whole film's survivor vibe (which should have been set closer to the beginning to add the desperate feel)... you just cant help everyone. Thank you for sharing with us. One positive criticism might be: more important even than finding the right abandoned building or creature effect would be the details of the main protagonist; make sure everything LOOKs years old and well worn and practical (down to having a dirty haggard face); not like some guy just took a sears catalog collection of camping plastic out for the weekend.
Thanks. I agree I should have put a bit more dirt on his face and clothes similar to the boy at the end. Otherwise we really didn't have a budget, we used what we had lying around the house and the crew was just 1 cameraman and 1 actor.
jaketrevaskis12 He has a lovely sculpted beard though, so not all bad haha
Oh I don't know... I think having a clean face is acceptable. People aren't going to give up having a wash now and then, no matter how hard living might be.
I liked this film and was genuinely interested in seeing where it would lead. Overall I think it was pretty good.
@@BoingBB Exactly, some people will always take care of their hygiene and so forth.
@@jaketrevaskis12 Don't sweat it. For just two filming and acting, this is great work!💗
He answered the distress call to... what? Murder a kid and steal his back pack? Cold blooded. Thanks to all you Fallout fans making tributes. I'm a fan too. Keep it up everyone. I'm digging it.
Wow. I love the atmosphere and the camera work really accents the sparse nature of the world. The ending's tension was incredible too. This is really well done.
Excellent short film. Very dark and gritty. The pip boy redesign looked great. The costume design could have been more rugged and practical for the protagonist. The lack of dialogue gave the film a very desolate feeling. The creature attack was a bit of a problem with the budget. It was cut effectively but it may have been better if it was simply a wounded raider who attacked with a crow bar or something. The ending was fantastic. The cinematography was excellent. Great directing and acting. Well done
A different but great Fallout fan film. Very interesting. Wish you would have made more!
Very very nice! This gets an real immersive feeling to this postnuclear world.
Was that a sasquatch? Other than the pip-boy and the ultra clean and new clothing this was great! Thanks to all involved! If you ever do another go to a charity shop get some old cheap clothes, rip them up and make them look DURRRTY! I could make you a sick pip-boy too..
A really good watch and with a big budget for props and such it could be awesome!.....Well done sir!
Even though the kid may have been put out of his misery, that was still a cold move.
Yeah, he could have wasted the scant few medical supplies on the kid, who was going to die anyway, just to make the kid a little bit more comfortable in his last few moments of life. Supplies he would definitely need later. Giving the kid a few hours at most more of life, using things that could completely save his, or someone elses life later.
OR
He could put the kid out of his misery as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Hard decisions, yeah, but understandable.
A mercy kill was a move that takes heart and strength. The kid was almost dead, seeing radiation and all. Not to mention in contrast to the dead adult in the other room. Killing him was merciful.
Ah, old Fallout that allowed you to be evil. Thats refreshing.
im gonna go ahead and guess it was a yao guai
The "monkeyattack" was scary. Excellent short film.
really good job. all these fan films on youtube are very inspiring.
Neat little film! Nice twist at the end as well
Fantastic! This is my first experience from this creator. I hope there’s more content from this genius. I will check and if it’s anything like this then I’d vote for this creator for screen actors guild president. Thank you for the amazingly talented skit!
I wish all the best to you and yours!!
Relevent final in a survival situation.
Less for the helping part, since it was very dangerous to begin with ... especially when you are alone.
Overall, it was a good short.
Nice job done.
The voice of that distress signal sounds just like Kaz from Peace Walker and Phantom Pains.
Great camera work, special effects. Doesnt seem like the right setting, and I kinda got bored. But still impressive
This was pretty good. I enjoyed the change of scenery. At least he wasn't stuck in the same bunker the entire film.
That was awesome. It really felt like a nuclear apocalypse.
The Pip-Boy 3000 displayed a crippled arm yet he walked just fine
***** I meant he walked normally, he doesn't clutch his "crippled" arm or anything
That was pretty awesome :). it shocked me at the end when he just killed the kid point blank but I guess survival of the fittest and all that. plus what could he really have done? Very nice scenes, I loved the kid's backpack with the flowers. the gorilla did make me laugh abit though
Two hundred years after a nuclear war and wearing new clothes and boots.... I don't think so.
This very nice, well done.
Sometimes ya gotta weigh the good & the bad. A caution to us all lest we allow circumstances to get that bad!
Great job on this mate you should do more.
What this lacked in props, was more than made up for by the storyline and acting. As far as Fallout fan films go, this is almost on the same level as Nuka Break and Fallout: Lanius.
Not at all, Nuka Break is funny and with good story.
A 303 British bolt action rifle, super badass 👏👏
Good film, shows how hard you gotta be to survive.
It needed more fallout things, nuke cola and stuff like that, maybe more then one guy. Other wise great, please make more
At first I thought I was watching a walking dead episode. Had that type if vibe. Liked how it ended. To bad we couldn't really see the creature that was attacking. Thought it was a gorilla.
I approve of this film!
That ending though... And I dont mean just that he shot the kid pleading for help a jerk! The only time I've run across a transmission like that so far, at least that I can still recall, was back in fallout 3 when I stumbled across a family in a drainage pipe with a sick kid. I got there and it turned out that the transmission was pre-war and everyone was already long dead. I honestly expected to run into that scenario here. Less depressing.
loved that ending
Wow awesome! Also very scary lol. The actor looked too clean and the shiny black leather jacket looked out of place. Apart from that brilliant!
***** Yes, but it looked too clean. Nothing is that clean in the Fallout wasteland.
***** Ok fair enough, but when you're wandering like that, it's hard to stay pristine.
pip-boy could've use allot more work.
@Shawn Hugo Yeah I know I saw it was a freshly painted big green PVC pipe with a phone case on it
sure does lol even on very low budged you can find some cheap glue, newspaper and a sheet or two of sandpaper to shape up a form, pictures are all around the interwebs, several Tutorials how to sculpt and so on. So there is not much of an excuse in my opinion eventho one isn't to good with tools.
Sounds is Amazing!
i think he has a forbidden perk
Awesome!!
How hard would have been to drag your clothes around in the dirt for a little while?
How loud has he got that pipboy? Would you not put it to your ear and have it on a lower volume? Your film is visually very good btw!
In fallout, you’re never seen trees
In the dark scenes it looked like the perception skill went down to 0. Couldn't see shit..
Not to shabby :D
Damn Deathclaws!
we can see the effort and the hard work (like in evry movie) but ive got to say i dont see too much connetion to th fallout world, except of some radiation sound and the pipboy
but as a movie of a guy who survives in a dead world (not as the fallout series) its pretty nice
but more story to this and maybe little changes with the animal part and its realy great movie
Not sure what the best option was for the kid injuries might have been too much, hard to say.
nice movie...
Wtf why did he kill him
I feel like it's trying to convey how in a world like that, you can't always be the good guy.
Hey man, i loved this so much!! I also just made a fallout fan film and was wondering if we could help each other out to get more people to see it? Can i private message you?
Good one. With better prop and higher budget this movie would be awesome...
I know that big white building
Kid: "Help me..."
Benny: "You've made your last plea for help, kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene. Since you're a child, you must feel relieved that Bethesda has tagged you as "essential". Truth is, the game's been modded from the start."
Kids are supposed to be invincible in fallout.....
Jacob Boyle in fallout 1 and 2 you could kill kids.
i know, it was a joke
It don't looked liked
+Jacob Boyle Well we got mods!!
What was the point of that 1st night scene? To show that a day had passed? Since he shot at the bushes?
very nice. i loved the fight scene, though i could tell what costume constraints you had to work with.
i really loved that survivor mentality, that looking out for number one feeling to the entire story.
i am a sucker for good props, so i wasnt blown away by the pipboy physical piece, but the graphics were rather swish!
i do wonder why that shirt was chosen for the protagonist. it was bright and went against the rest of the tone. was that deliberate? and if so why?
Where'd you get that Smile for the movie
This guy is cruel as hell
Lighting please
The wrong side of Fallout, if will.
The modern day electricity pylons ruin it...
Why are there sounds of Australian Ravens?
we'll done, the setting look's great and "the thing in the night" are really fantastic but the main protagonist should be look's more "wastelandish" dirty clothing, a scar,... something like that
Where did u filmed this?It must be in Serbia,Bosnia or east Croatia.Perhaps even Kosovo?
My geography isn't exactly the greatest, but that to me looks like the U.S. Maybe somewhere in the Southeast. If I had enough money to bet, I'd say the panhandle of Florida.
Edit: Alright, I'm an idiot. Description says it was filmed in South Australia.
the monster sounds are modified DOOM demon sounds
grass is to green
@ 10:00
Was that a guy in a gorilla costume!?!? 🤣😂😂😂
Was the boy at the end the dead guys son?
Look for people freaking out why he killed the kid. Yes oh no he killed the child it's reality it's a torn apart world where it's everyone for there selfs the kid was dying last thing to do is take it out of his pain. It's you or your gravel that's how survival works I'm sorry but it's the truth that's how I play fallout. The kid had good loot it's worth it most of the time
you know what else this movie is? Fallout! As in instant healing stimpacks? Hell, some med-x and bandages would have been fine. you really think a guy with the guts to go out into the wasteland shooting things isn't gonna have any quick healing medical supplies? And yet he just shoots the kid asking for help. He is a total dick!
Who's here in 2018
well, shit! i thought you couldn't kill kids.
Awesome, was this filmed in Western Australia?
I'm in an ape suit! That means I don't give a f***!
Were those creaturez supposed to be Yao Guai?
Yeah I know that. I've been playing Fallout since I was seven.
I said 'supposed', like the people making the film were trying to make it look like a Yao Guai.
Why does he have his face on the gun
Wearing new clothes was a poor choice but otherwise it was pretty good.
I guess you've never read Joseph Campbell huh?
come back
Very nice locations and the direction was good, but whats with the schoolbags really, not very Fallout.
Nice short tho... of course some thing that could have been better (as in every other artwork too) like the pipboy. Scenery was awesome no doubt about story was well ok too for a short movie... Don't get me wrong, im not mocking on your Creation. However i used to write Missions/Adventures and sidequests for roleplaying games and Tabletops (inclouding Fallout and Shadowrun) with 3-5+ (less than 2 Players adventures just borring me to much) Players inclouding sidequests NPC, their mainlines inclouding possible variations to (Ghouls, BoS, Raiders and what else creeping through the wastes) Anyways it a good piece, i know the work behind things like that eventho there are only like 3 Figures and two of them more or less dead.
Hands down best Fallout film I've seen! Captures 'Fallout' perfectly with it's own twist.
Have you seen lanius or nuka break there closer to the fallout lore and world than this one but thise is still good
yes, I prefer Distress though. Better tone and approach.
Anyone who wants to further support this film feel free to give the Facebook page 'Fallout: Distress' a like.
good video, but a little too long if you asks me.
Good storyline but bad attention to details. Since semiconductors never was invented in the Fallout lore how can he have a LED-flashlight? To much vegetation. A bone sticking out of a brand new shoe? The Pip-Boy looks like it has a flatscreen wich once again can't be made without semiconductors.
Wtf why'd you shoot her
Great film, However, not much fallout. This film seems to be more of what could possibly happen in a true post apocalyptic earth(Loosing ones humanity and all).
WTF dude?!
Intros like the one in this video are both funny to laugh at and annoying at the same time. They talk about 1% of the world surviving. The issue is, we all know they only mean the civilized parts of the world. they phrase it like they mean the whole world, but no one is gonna nuke africa, or mostly jungle places like Madagascar and New Zealand. A majority of the human population is fine. it's just extremely primitive is all.

Nice, but why the fu...k this guy looks like he just left a church. It is extremely easy to make simplest fallout outfit. You just put church outfit on you, then you rolling yourself in the ditch with a dust and sharp stones in it. You getting yourself out of the ditch and trying to not charge anything.
Wtf
in the begin you can se a car driving ahahah
The caption seems to imply that the people in Fallout are 200-odd year old 'survivours' of the original nuclear war. Ghouls can be, but most people aren't.
It didn't imply that at all.
*gets backpack* You are overconumbered and can't run!
Damn
Really liked this up until the ending. Ruined it for me.
