PPL are a 1000 times more scarier than zombies in this type of situation
Absolutely! I've told my friends that zombies are predictable and you always know exactly what they're after. Now people? Not so much...
its like in the Walking Dead where the people become the worse of the whole Apocalypse situation
The Road is a great example
i agree, but i would also like to add, that people are the scariest thing i can think of. hell just look at the epidemic we are in right now. theres a virus sweeping the globe and alot of countries are locking down, you know the definition of shtf. and most economies are crumbling, most are failing. yet its not the virus i am afraid of. not but maybe 2% the other 98% of my fears are the disgusting humans. whether its government, police, or lunatic civilians hoarding toilet paper. shit is about to get very very REAL as they say. and its gonna be the humans that cause the majority of the deaths before this is over, not the virus.
And it's happening now
What an incredible 20 minutes! This could be a 2+hr movie easily. It was leaps and bounds better than anything coming outta hollywood! 👏👏👏Bravo!
... it was called The Road...
Yup, but in a sense, Sadly...…………...
Agreed. Way better than the road even
Interestingly both this film and The Road highlight importance of firearms ownership.

Feeding stray dogs and having them around are a good alarm system and more vicious the better for intruders.
You would have to feed dogs the corpses of the raiders you kill or else you will quickly deplete your own food storage supplies.
Plus if the dog becomes a problem, you can always eat it.
*vicious
Essentially how we domesticated wolves
I actually don't think i've ever been upset by a character death in any short film until this one. You did a great job at establishing characters and making the audience care about them.

@@mogwaijizm872 when your compassion is lost, so is your humanity, we all have a choice! even at the end.
If you're upset then you're not fit for the post survival.

@Holy Acid for libtards, sjw, lgbtq, dems, & antifa killing is the easy part.. the hard part is processing the corpse for meat. Cuz ya know, desperate times call for Desperate measures.
good flick and a prime example of why if you are a prepper dont tell anyone a damn thing
Everybody needs community to survive. There are very few Mountain Men amongst us. The key is to only tell those you trust to be there for you when the time comes, and for you to be there for them when the time comes.
99.9% of everyone will be a zombie. If I get a chance I'll be the best zombie I can be.
Start with a small group.
Then, it becomes a village.
Then you have an army.
Then you build your territory.

@@thedevilsadvocate5210 LMFAO
So the kid didn't learn anything...his brother didn't shoot that girl bc she was a stranger, he shot her bc she refused to stop & was probably a scout for that gang of raiders. The kid gets his brother shot, then shoots some innocent guy just bc he's there; it wasn't his camp or anything, the guy was happy to see someone...
I enjoyed the film but would've preferred to see the kid join with the newcomer, as another brother of sorts, showing the compassion & humanity that the raiders are so obviously lacking, rather than seeing him become no different than they are.
Still, great acting & a good piece of film all round.
i was gunna say the exact same thing, but why say it twice.
In the apocalypse, its kill or be killed. Food and resources will be scarce.I think this is exactly what it would be like.
@W Smith wow, what "news"! Never heard that before! Good thing he proved his fitness by killing some harmless dude who could've been an invaluable ally.
@@DadBodDrumming actually studies into disasters have shown that people are just as likely to all band together as to rampage & murder each other.
Either way, my comment was about creating a good story with a message.
@@DadBodDrumming I take it you live in the city. Plenty of resources in the wilderness, no need for canned foods. 30 round of .308 and 300 of .22 is more than enough for a year. Most gun owners keep a hell of a lot more than that around.
Groups devolve into self interests during times of scarcity. This was truly remarkable. Also I knew the unarmed woman was bait. No way she could’ve made it that far alone
Nope, these are the people who don't survive. The larger the group, and the more cooperation, the better your chance. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And nowhere in history have small groups been the survivors.
Spurious Effect large groups require large resources look at all the largest armies on the world and throughout history Alexander the Great, the Roman Empire, the great khan armies all required heavy resources during times of prosperity. Been binge watching some post-apocalyptic short films lately and this is the best! Great plot, dialogue, cinematography and acting! No fight scenes or any zombies involved, just the reality of surviving in a wasteland. It made me sad and emotional!
I would hope that people could still come together. Life as we know it would be gone, but not our humanity.
They will but in groups. When hunger and desperation hits you will see humanity act desperately and very badly. Everyone thinks nooooo but go without food for 25 days and no sleep and be cold and hurting. Place loved ones in the mix!!! In Russia after Communism took over people ate the children!!! How can such a thing happen??? Well it did and it does.

Every part of the movie was well done and very realistic. I enjoyed it from starting to ending
Well... except that the premise of the film is, it's a new ice age... And there are bales of hay laying out.
I'll give you a few moments to ponder exactly why that kinda blows the realism out of the water.

Best short film I’ve seen so far.
Keep them coming!!!
I know that the sound of guns cocking sounds cool in movies but in the beginning the guy cocked his rifle twice without firing it and then every time he picked it up. In a situation such as they were in a person would have a round in the chamber every minute of the day as sometimes just the second it takes to chamber a round could be life or death.
Totally agree. I never understood the reasoning behind "oh, let me chamber this round in right before I assault [insert area/building/people/person]" here.
It's loud, gives your position away, and just dumb. Always have one in chamber.
Same goes for people that believe the sound of racking a pump action is a great way to scare off an intruder... You just gave your position away or lost a valuable time advantage.
Cheers!
And when he cocked his Bolt Action Rifle it sure sounded like a lever action cocking to me.
He should have left the kid with 2 cans of food and that 1911 as soon as he took it upon himself to brake cover and run into an blind structure unarmed. based on their cloths and the condition of that optic, they've been doing the lone wolf thing for at least 6 months. Yet the kid still hasn't figured out that this is not a game and actively seeks to be a danger to the both of them.
There are 5 key rules for lone wolfing in boogaloo
1. Size and weight constraints are law. (no carrying useless shit like a Vader mask.)
2. You are the minority. (majority of people will gather into micro community. This automatically shows that the lone wolf has actively chosen to go against that natural method of survival.)
3. Never sleep at or close to nightfall. (cover of darkness is default for those who lack the training to engage in active aggressive combat. Making night time the most likely time for a raid or attack.)
4. You will be doing all of the things. (sanitation, cooking, hunting, fire building, wood cutting, security, etc.)
5. You are the hunted and you are ALONE! (the lone sheep is an easy target and is doomed to abide by it's own thoughts. The main benefit to micro community is that you have other people to help. That means calling you out when you have a stupid idea or plan and being able to work together to devise the best solution. By yourself you are a slave to your own experience and lack there of which will always result in fatality when faced by an outnumbering opposition. No matter how good you are, a intermediate team of dedicated people can and will take you out of the game. That's just a matter of time.)
it's just a movie.

@Family Man my point was that your family depends on you and there's only one of you and "one is none and two is one" so having a small group is reasonable cause something could happen to you and having someone close to you (who you really trust) is important

You can't be that way' him and his brother were a problem they were nothing but murders people must help each other and form some sort of law and order.just like the old west 'they have to try to rebuild .
The only problem I seen with it was the use of a high powered rifle, which is only good with big game and humans from long range distance. Not the best best gun for long term survival as small fast moving game gets away.
Me too!
@@gregzeigler3850 you can use a high power for small game, and you can reload them and cast bullets, strip bullets for components etc. i do agree with you in theory, but a rimfire such as .22 is a one shot no reload. with the craze in usa over the .223, id guess that would be the most popular high power, and they are still fine for a rabbit. you can even reduce load to use cast. struggle to see how small fast moving game can avoid a high power at 3000fps and cant dodge a .22 at 1200fps

This is under the assumption that it is a world wide event, otherwise there would be immediate invading forces. Very well done film- on par with high budget
Name one scenario where this would become the paradigm for a country that is today in the first world and it be an isolated occurrence whereby another country would invade. Keep in mind the entire military structure of that country including forces abroad and their government including officials abroad have to also somehow die and somehow their allies aswell. I'd definitely put this as one of the best.
I watch these post-apocalyptic-short films because they teach me a lot of life-saving lessons, to be prepared for what might come to pass in this country, soon. I am learning how to survive in a totally hostile environment. Trust no one. Be on your guard and alert to even the direction of the winds, or the falling of a leaf. Do not loose focus or change your plan hapzardly; do not take your eyes off your goal for a weak person around you. Go on your own, and survive if this is what is required, or you'll pay a heavy price. Don't approach an unknown place, carelessly. Use all of your senses. Leave the weak behind.

Sad that it took him losing either his friend or brother to make him realise that no one can be trusted
That s not the way one will survive. lone wolves will die first. survival is always a matter of how strong/numerous your "gang" is and how well it will be organized. Usually you form a "tribe" of family (no matter how distant) members. Without trust in anyone you will be dead.
I don't trust anybody even now

Cranky Gun Reviews modern day children unfortunately.
Brilliant! It's just a shame that the young bloke had to learn the hard way that there are no friends when it comes to survival. And the only one he could trust was killed by his stupidity. What a great lesson for all those out there who seem to lack the "common sense gene ". If your not willing to kill then your willing to die.
but, they weren't surviving - they were merely existing until it was their turn to die. the way basic human biology works is that neither your community nor your species can survive when you have only two related males living alone and killing anyone who comes in range. Had they not killed 'Anna' ... they may have had a chance. She might have been a spy, or she might have not. The guy at the end certainly wasn't a spy. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time - and met one of the surviving dregs of humanity who had a gun and no brain.
@@ryancurtis386 everyone here seems to pointlessly kill each other, also everyone seems to be brainless I mean they saw two people knew one was alive and possibly armed and then left cover before the threat was eliminated, and they didn't even bother to search the place.
