I thought it was more "The Three Amigos" + "The Seven Samurai," primarily because the so-called Warriors are under the impression they are there for entertainment, rather than as hired muscle. It's only after the reality sets in, and after a pep-talk that the circus bugs do what they can to fight for the ants. The samurai, though, always knew how to fight, and had every intention of doing so once they were making their way to the village. The same goes for "The Magnificent Seven."

This isn't 1920s-1950s black-and-white movies we're talking about that next to no young people have seen. He has probably the most popular black-and-white movies by far. I have an opinion and an experience with something and you insult me for it because it doesn't perfectly correspond with your own. I'm glad that those around you seem to know about Kurosawa, but please don't act as if your experience is that of everyone else. I've never met a single person in my home town that recognized his name when I asked them about it. That is a fact, and that is why I made my comment.
I'll continue to spread awareness of his works, even if that somehow makes me pretentious, because I think film history should be revered, not forgotten, and it brings happiness and connections to those in my life.

I actually asked someone who worked on A Bug’s Life about the film’s inspiration and he said that the movie was originally more of a remake of Seven Samurai and the original title of the film was “Seven Bugs”. The original version stayed more close to the original movie in terms of its story, but when they decided that the film would be about circus bugs that were mistaken for warriors instead, that lead to them changing the title. He pretty much said that Pixar in no way were hiding that they were making an animated remake of or loosely based on Seven Samurai.

Pausing for dramatic effect is neat and all, but when it happens for nearly the entire 30 minute video I couldn't help but start subconsciously rolling my eyes. Everything in moderation and all that.

I very much liked this video. Got my sub.
But you pause at the end of every second sentence I swear. Personally it makes it very hard to listen to. Really does break up the commentary and lessens the impact from something profound or intresting that DOES deserve a pause.
Writing is great but improved speaking could make it feel even better.
