    • @txcnaskills2599
      @txcnaskills2599  Před 3 lety +2

      Hello HTowngurl17, Great question. The bed safety check is not required when transferring the patient from the bed to the wheelchair. This is different from the Pearson Vue guidelines. When you go to take your test, the evaluator will have the bed wheels locked before your partner gets into the bed for that person's safety. Therefore the wheels are already locked.

      Hello,
      If you look at the instruction for this skill, Prometric requires the student to put on three things. (Shirt, pants, and sock)
      You must know who the testing agency is for your state. It sounds like you were viewing a Credentia site.
      I just checked the internet and the state of Washington test under Prometric. Double check this please. My instructions on this CZcams site is for Prometric.

      resident
      Does the candidate:

      2 Provide explanations to resident about care before beginning and during care? (IC)
      3 Include resident in decision-making about clothing to wear?

    • @txcnaskills2599
      @txcnaskills2599  Před 3 lety +4

      Hello Michael, Good Questions. If there is a chance that the top sheet will get wet, I suggest using a bath blanket to cover the patient so that you will leave the patient with dry linen. If you have to undress the client, a top sheet is thin and will not keep the elderly patient warm. Again, because elderly people are often cold I suggest using a bath blanket.

    • @txcnaskills2599
      @txcnaskills2599  Před 3 lety +4

      Prometric does not tell us to use a bath blanket or a sheet to cover the client. The instructions do state not to expose the client. Ask yourself, can you see a body part under a sheet when bathing or dressing a client. If you can a body part that is normally covered, the client is exposed. I would use this as my deciding factor for using a bath blanket or sheet.

      Hello Kimberly, If you are testing through Prometric, you will be required to put the client on (1) a long-sleeve button-up front shirt, (2) a pair of pants, and (3) a pair of socks. The evaluator will tell you which side is the weak side during the exam. Therefore, the candidate does not know the weak side ahead of time.
      If you are testing through Pearson Vue, you will only need to put a button-up shirt on the client. Pearson Vue tells the candidate the weak side will be on the right.
      The evaluator will tell each candidate how much time he or she has to complete their exam.

      Hello Edna, The state will grade you by which arm you remove the shirt from First and which arm you put the shirt on first. Those are the important steps.
      Now to answer your question, I would not turn the patient to the side and then back to the other side to put on a shirt. That is too much turning for me.

      To me this will be very hard to put the pant on the mannequin while sitting up.

      Hello Gullymuma Jen, The skills I teach are according to Prometric guidelines. In the state of Colorado the students TEST under Credentia guidelines. In your state, the student is told ahead of time which arm will be the weak arm. This is not the case with Prometric. You might want to find videos related to Credentia so that you will not be confused. Again, these videos are related to Prometric guidelines.

      No, Prometric just says to place the client in a button down long sleeve shirt properly. Therefore, you should button all of the buttons even the ones at the cuffs.
