Something that’s missing is that in spring and summer is it’s so green and even more beautiful. Like a rain forest. Moved to Bella Vista almost 2 years ago from California. I absolutely love the area. So many gorgeous places in Arkansas, the natural state. You really don’t get it unless you’ve been.

Been in Bentonville and Bella Vista for the last 17 years. Moved here from Southern California and never looked back. Definitely need to come back in the spring and fall. The square has a farmers market on Saturday mornings. We also have what’s called First Fridays. It’s so cool to just see everyone out enjoying all the fun that comes to town. We also have the Bentonville Film Festival, and Walmart Shareholders every year. Such a great place to live and call home. Thank you for the video

Being someone who has lived here my whole life, it is SO weird to know what people think of this place, especially given the fact that they’ve never been here! Thank you so much for your video :)
So many good memories, some of the most beautiful being biking to the square in the summer where me and my friends would get a snack at (surprise) Walmart. Sitting in the square with a drink and a snack is just so awesome, and truly beautiful.
No video will ever to the colors of this town justice tho 😭
Truly is a beautiful place, y’all should for sure put this in your visit list

Want to see a small town, Head toward Mountainburg, AR. and go to Chester. It’s an old town and really small. I own an 80 acre parcel above Chester and have to pass through to get to my property. It’s a beautiful drive through the Boston Mts. from Chester to my property. After all, you did miss my old hometown when you went through Altus, OK. Would have loved seeing you go through Tipton. The population soared during WW2 because there was a German POW camp in Tiptop. Used to play in the old camp as a kid. In 1959, the Tipton high school had 12 seniors graduate. One of the seniors drove the school bus.

I’ve lived in Bentonville my entire life, and I can say that is one of the most entertaining places to grow up in. The square offers so many fun opportunities, the trails are beautiful, the art is alive, and the school districts are amazing. I’m 15 now and have been going to the square almost every week since I was 5 to enjoy times with friends and family. Highly recommend!

I grew up here ( but born in Tulsa) and I watched the growth you describe over the past 20 years and even took a small part in it. The parks & rec department is extremely proud of how well they maintain the city but you are correct in assuming that the number of billionaires in town doesn’t hurt. Glad you enjoyed the museum as well. I kind of think of Bentonville as the nicest, wealthiest town most people have never heard of.

I believe the Walton's store that is shown in your video is really Walton's Five and Dime. The actual 1st store to carry the Walmart name. was in Rogers. I remember shopping with my parents in that store in the early 60's. We were visiting my grandmother who lived out near Pea Ridge and she was being released from the hospital and needed a few things for her home. So off to Walmart we go: one item was a set of sheets. I do not remember what size or color of sheets my mom bought, but do remember her saying that they were such a good buy. And this Walmart was such a wonderful store-nothing like it in Wichita! One of the last times that I was in Rogers, that little Walmart was gone and replaced by a Super Walmart. I checked it out and could not believe the number of check out lines there were. Also, so many little shops at the front of the store, looked like my local mall. Bentonville has really grown over the years. Also, I hope you got to check out A&Q Chicken House in Springdale!

    • @williamrobinson827

You're right. The first Walmart store was actually in Rogers, east of Bentonville. We shopped at the Super Walmart there now many times. A Q Chicken is still in business. We lived in Lowell when I worked at J.B. Hunt, and we loved eating there.

In the last 10 years, Bentonville has really grown and modernized. The gentrification has made Bentonville one of the most beautiful, fastest growing, and successful towns in America. Really, all of NWA has grown similarly. It's has high job prospects, low pollution, low crime, really a great place to live, at least for now. You should check it out in the spring or fall, it's much prettier.

I know of Bentonville because I watch 'Fixer to fabulous', but Dave and Jenny don't go downtown often and the footage is tightly edited. The Walmart "home office" appears very modest. Hard to believe that the subjugation of the America shopper is overseen from there. The housing stock is lovely and not at all like the cookie cutter homes on the average sprawling sub-division.

mm hhmm.. I started to realize about a decade and a half back that company was bad news when they were keeping most of their employees at part time hours so they were forced to supplement their medical and food benefits through government handouts.. the high cost of low prices and look where we are now. A first glimpse into U.S. corporate/government facism. Started selling us out to overseas interests.
I remember in the early 90's their "Bring it home to the USA" was quite inspiring, most everything sold in the store was made in the U.S. then after about 2000 it all went downhill.

Bentonville AR is "The Mountain Bike Capital of the world." Between Bella Vista and Bentonville i think there is over 450 miles of bike trails and they are always growing. The trails are groomed and taken care of constantly. Also there is a paved bike trail called Razorback Greenway that travels North to south from Bella Vista to Fayetteville that i think is over 60 mils.
Almost 1000 people a day moving to the erea. If your hoping to move to North West Arkansas and buying a cheap house and some land you missed out on that by about 3 years at least. It's a great erea that is growing and expanding daily.

I will write this slowly so you can all digest the words ....... I have never been to, or have any knowledge of Walmart ..... it is a company in the States ...... There, now you can all pick your jaws up off the floor.
Now to the meat of the discussion, the architecture. Bentonville, so close to the trip around Jefferson City, and I am impressed, you are spoiling us lovers of beautiful buildings. It looks, for want of a better phrase, manicured. Streets look that clean you could eat your lunch off them and so well preserved. Museum looked very interesting and has some of the original prints with great historical meaning. I was amazed when you read out the population figures, such a small place that has grown for obvious financial reasons. Another terrific journey into a previously unknown US city for me and thank you for showing me around. Food looked very nice but the weather a bit chilly. Hope you have avoided the snow storms I have seen invading the US. Stay safe and see you in the next adventure.

So many people have the five and dime store confused with the first Walmart store. The building you show on the square in Bentonville was Sam's first store but it wasn't called Walmart. Sam originally bought a Ben Franklin franchise and that was a regular 5&10¢ store. The first Walmart store was opened in 1962 on the corner of 8th and Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas. I have lived in Benton County Arkansas most of my life and my Father was 2nd in command of Walmart security. I used to talk to Sam often and I know he would appreciate it if everyone knew where he opened his first real Walmart store. I enjoy your videos and am not trying to be critical, just wanted you to know the facts. Thank you!

Born and raised in Arkansas - it’s home, but I like Minnesota MUCH MORE! The air is fresher there, my allergies aren’t as bad, and all of the lakes and general scenery are beyond gorgeous! Also, much cooler in the summer and little to no humidity.

Rogers and Bentonville are divided by the freeway. If you'd went there it's like different world. Due to a massive amount of immigration there are so may houses with dirt yards instead of grass and goats tied up in the front yards. they tried to pass an ordnance years ago to limit to 25 people per household but it failed.

    • @williamrobinson827
      @williamrobinson827 Před rokem

@@2shoat For the most part, yes. The boundaries are a bit interesting though. Parts of northern Bentonville are actually east of I-49, but that encroaches on Little Flock, not Rogers. And quite a bit of Rogers lies west of I-49 (from Walton Blvd/Walnut St on south). There , Bentonville is north of Rogers, not west, and the boundary is not along I-49.. It would be fun to speculate if the boundaries would have been a bit different if they had been drawn after the freeway was built.

Thank you for coming to NWArkansas! I live about 40 miles south of Bentonville. I work in Fayetteville. I always tell people that NWArkansas is not anything like the rest of Arkansas. Because of that, i never could understand why people made fun of Arkansas. Lol. Now i know. It''s the land of Walmart and Tyson foods. People from all over the world live here! More people work in Bentonville than live there! At rush hour, it'll take you an hour to go a couple of miles. Ive been there....Wasnt pretty....thanks again for coming here. I hope you had a chance to go through all the small towns in the area, i.e. Cave Springs, Decatur, Gravette, Gentry, just to name a few. I hail from Siloam Springs. Everyone was so friendly and warm and loving, nothing I’ve ever experienced in Southern California (born and raised) or Oregon Coast (where we currently reside). I’m only worried about the low temperatures and driving in the snow. The rest we can handle. 🤣
