    Mr. Viktor, thank you for the most descriptive video. I was always afraid to take brake clips off and get on after cleaning. Now I know. A lot of other things in video that were helpful. If you rotors are not warped can you get way with not replacing them.

    • @Viktor_G_Automotive

      Thanks! The rotors do not need to be replaced if they are above minimum thickness, but I would recommend to always machine then on the brake lathe to straighten them and let the new pads wear in properly.

    Great Video; you mentioned you Turned the Rotors. How much need to get turned or what’s max size or thickness of Rotor need ? Beyond what thickness size left you can not turn and need to discard to buy new ones ? Minimum specification size will help.

    • @Viktor_G_Automotive
      @Viktor_G_Automotive  Před měsícem

      Hi, new rotor thickness is 28 mm. Minimum thickness is 25 mm. How much you need to machine off the rotor will depend on how warped or grooved it is. Usually they can be machined twice before they reach minimum thickness, but that will depend on your driving style and the type of pads you use (aftermarket ones often wear the rotor down significantly more than the OEM pads do).

    Hello Victor, if the boot is merely slightly damaged with a small amount of grease, is it feasible to replace just the boot and not the CV joint? Is this even advisable?

    • @Viktor_G_Automotive
      @Viktor_G_Automotive  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, definitely possible to replace just the boot and install new grease. However, in practice, most dealerships or DIYers would generally replace the complete axle. It is a bit of extra work to take it all apart and also very messy :)

    Nice. They didn't throw anything requiring a special tool on there. Just good old simple brake pad and rotor removal like any car from the 80's and newer.
    Nothing worse than seeing that you need some special one size fits all cube to twist the caliper pistons back in.. *cough cough* Ford.

  • @7demo7review
    @7demo7review Před 9 měsíci +1

    I used your other video about a year ago and the video was amazing. (I did brake pads and rotors) I slowly started getting front end shake while braking that got worse and worse.
    Luckily the parts were under warranty so I got new pads and rotors installed this weekend. What would be the cause of the rotor warping that happened to me. The rotors are good quality and the pads are euro spec

    • @Viktor_G_Automotive
      @Viktor_G_Automotive  Před 9 měsíci +4

      You probably won't like my answer, but if this vehicle came to me for diagnosis, I would recommend to start by replacing the rotors, pads and shims with factory parts. I understand that you feel the parts are of good quality, but from my perspective, it is not possible to be sure of what is causing the issue when dealing with aftermarket parts. Often the warp is caused by either improper pads/rotors or driving habits such as overloading or towing with the vehicle, especially in hilly/mountainous terrain.

    • @JustAGuy85
      @JustAGuy85 Před 13 dny

      @@Viktor_G_Automotive Yeah.. in other words, the rotors got hot. And I don't now how "good" the brakes are on these vehicles. Someone I know says they feel weak after driving a newer Mustang GT, but yeah, some vehicles just don't come with big enough brakes and just a little spirited driving will ruin the rotors. That or running the pads all the way down to the metal will mess your rotors up if driven too long like that.
      I mean, yes, it's a "Lexus", but it's still Toyota. And in my experience, Domestic vehicles always have FAR beefier brakes, specifically much larger rotors.
