    A true Irish hero, Nothing more noble than to give your life for your beliefs.Not many have ever been so brave .putting country and other's before your own existence. God bless you Bobby. And damn the cowards who didn't see you as an Irish soldier with rights. May they be feeling the heat of Hell. Erin Go Bragh👍☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸🙏❤️

    The melody is from "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" -- songwriter Gordon Lightfoot said he always thought his song was an Irish ballad -- Bobby Sands was able to write poignant, brilliant songs and poetry, in spite of the hell of the H-Blocks -- incredible hero who sacrificed his life for Ireland

      I’m English, with Irish heritage on mams side.
      I grew up a catholic in the west end of Newcastle upon Tyne.
      My mam wanted to protect us from the Irish troubles.
      My infant school headteacher was a wee Belfast woman. In the 60s she educated me.
      As I grew up, I travelled to the North. Now I’m very clear where I stand.
      First time I went to Belfast , I was so much more comfortable where there wasn’t a union flag flying.
      Strangely , my husband , not a Catholic, felt the same. We went many years and always felt safe in the falls road area.

    1:09 Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings;
    From the rooms of her ice-water mansion.
    Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams,
    Its islands and bays are for sportsmen;
    And farther below Lake Ontario,
    Takes in what Lake Erie can send her;
    The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
    If they'd put 15 more miles behind her.
