My shih tzu just passed 3 days ago. She almost made it to 15. This was my first dog and she was my whole life. I couldn't imagine getting a different dog breed. She was the best and most spunky little thing ever. Rest in peace beautiful ❤

I always adopt. And this time I was blessed with a shitzu named Sophie who was on the euthanasia list due food allergies and fur loss. I have only had her 6 months but she has brought so much joy to my life. I couldn’t love her more. And I’m happy to say that with proper diet and medicated baths, she has all her fur back. They are definitely sweet and loving dogs.

Rose Anne, the one I use most is Duoxo Chlorhexidine shampoo. I get that from my sister who is a vet. I’m not sure if you need a script to get it. But I believe Chewy may carry something similar. The main ingredient to look for is the Chlorhexidine gluconate. I have treated two rescues with skin conditions with this product. Good luck!
My Shih Tzu, Bella, passed away 3 months ago on the 14th from cancer. She was 13. She may have been a little dog, but her heart was big. Even in her last moments when her breathing was labored and her body was showing signs of shutting down, she wagged her tail as we walked into the vet, back room and looked at us with adoring eyes. I love my dog so much. I'm now a college student studying far away from out home town and left my shih tzu to my family and everytime i come home there is always a difference of how he greets me and my family. He's always hyper to see me and makes me feel that he really misses me so much. He also knows when i'm sick and checks on me when he feels that I'm awake. He's always loving and loyal. ❤️
I honestly believe this is one of the best dog breeds for small dogs. I have two and they make amazing companions. They are extremely smart and so loving. It’s hard to imagine my life without them, since they literally become a huge part of your life.

My shi tzu is the sweetest kindest companion. She started life as a therapy dog for people injured and recovering, making her even more thoughtful and loving. I'm homeless living in a car with her after cancer ripped through my family. Lately I've had huge stress over her not eating her food, worrying me. I spent my last five dollars getting her chicken to mix in her kibble and she still refused. I can't afford to be manipulated by a vet at this time so I'm praying she is healthy. I’m so passionate about this breed, they really are so loving and special. You can rescue one - they often end up in shelters as people aren’t prepared to take care of their fur. Either brushing daily or a “puppy haircut” every 2 months, which costs around $50 where I live.
My husband just gives my 2 girls a buzz--where we live we have to because of ticks. But we do our own cuts, learned on youtube, they don't mind it at all.

I went to buy one Shih Tzu & two females were playing together so cute & I decided I didn’t want to leave the other so I bought both of them at the age of 8 weeks & they were born on Easter Sunday 2006 & I n Amex them Angel & Gabby & my sweet loving Angel passed away in the night on Easter Sunday eve 2019 & I miss her every day ! I have a little Shih Tzu named Rainha Jane, she will be one at the end of this month. Rainha is extremely smart, and caches on really quickly when learning new tricks. My Shi Tzu Fredo passed away last month he made it to almost 15. My family and I are still absolutely crushed. He was so smart, and strong willed, sweet and chill. In his prime so athletic and strong. One of the best decisions I ever made was to invite him to be part of our family. Don’t know if I could ever get another cause there was only one Fredo.

I rescued a Shih Tzu stray from our county facility about a year and a half ago. As a previous owner of LARGE dogs ( Newfoundland, St.Bernard, Tri Color Collie ) over the years, this was my first little dog. He is exactly as advertised: a people dog, VERY smart, and has his own personality. Really a cute little fella and I'm very glad he came home with me.
All of this is 100 percent true. We love our shitzu! My first pup and yes just a love bug, smart and loves people and all animals!! 😍 His name is Gelato, or Geli for short 🥰
i still remember how my shih tzu who passed away 3 years ago escaped when my cousin left the gate open, and he ran to the other house and attacked a husky who was at least 15 times bigger than him! good thing the owner of the dog immediately stopped his dog and lead him inside the house. i really miss that strong and energetic little ball :(( rest in peace, yuan. ❤️

I have my little baby since September 2020. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me!!! He’s turning 1 this July 5. I love him so much. I keep on reminding him everyday that he’s my life, which is true. Huhuhu. Wish I could slow down the time to spend a lifetime with him.
I love the breed, I have owned two both rescues from shelters, both agressive one in particular, but we made a lot of progress, the problem is if they were previously mistreated they DO NOT forget it. But they do calm down this a tolerant loving new pet owner which I am. Both my Shih Tzu are senior and unfortunately the first one I adopted haspast away, I was truly heartbroken. But luck was on my side I adopted my second senior 4 months ago we definitely have bonded, he is 13 yrs old and doing very well. I am a happy lady! With a GREAT pup!!

I love my Shit Tzu "Pascal' very dearly. I just celebrated his 16th Birthday on 8th of May. He loves to travel with me in vehicle (short or long distance) and camping every summer with me etc. He is very loving, very intelligent, and easy going pooch. I would recommend to anyone who loves to have a small loyal dog, adopt a Shit Tzu. You will not regret.

Our first Shih Ztu was 8 weeks old when we got her from a breeder. Her name is Loxi & is now 11 yrs old. Four yrs. later we went to Petco & they were having a dog rescue. Yes, we rescued our second Shih Ztu who was 6 yrs. old, PeeWee. He is now 12 yrs. old. They are the best dogs that we have ever had, so devoted, smart, lovable. I could go on & on. They are the best of all dogs as far as we are concerned. 🐶🥰🐶🥰

My Shi Tzu Fredo passed away last month he made it to almost 15. My family and I are still absolutely crushed. He was so smart, and strong willed, sweet and chill. In his prime so athletic and strong. One of the best decisions I ever made was to invite him to be part of our family. Don’t know if I could ever get another cause there was only one Fredo.

I rescued a Shih Tzu stray from our county facility about a year and a half ago. As a previous owner of LARGE dogs ( Newfoundland, St.Bernard, Tri Color Collie ) over the years, this was my first little dog. He is exactly as advertised: a people dog, VERY smart, and has his own personality. Really a cute little fella and I'm very glad he came home with me.

i still remember how my shih tzu who passed away 3 years ago escaped when my cousin left the gate open, and he ran to the other house and attacked a husky who was at least 15 times bigger than him! good thing the owner of the dog immediately stopped his dog and lead him inside the house. i really miss that strong and energetic little ball :((

I love the breed, I have owned two both rescues from shelters, both agressive one in particular, but we made a lot of progress, the problem is if they were previously mistreated they DO NOT forget it. But they do calm down this a tolerant loving new pet owner which I am. Both my Shih Tzu are senior and unfortunately the first one I adopted haspast away, I was truly heartbroken. But luck was on my side I adopted my second senior 4 months ago we definitely have bonded, he is 13 yrs old and doing very well. I am a happy lady! With a GREAT pup!!

I love my Shit Tzu "Pascal' very dearly. I just celebrated his 16th Birthday on 8th of May. He loves to travel with me in vehicle (short or long distance) and camping every summer with me etc. He is very loving, very intelligent, and easy going pooch. I would recommend to anyone who loves to have a small loyal dog, adopt a Shit Tzu. You will not regret.
