  • After putting it off for a long while due to personal obligations, work scheduling, and locomotive repair projects, I got around to assembling the DCC-EX Command Station. There were hiccups along the way, but I got the thing to work.
The DCC-EX 8874 motor shield was used for the assembly. If you are unable to acquire one, then acquire an Arduino Motor Shield R3 and scratch out the Vin Connect Trace.
For HO Scale Operations, the DCC-EX 8874 motor shield requires a 15-Volt, 5-Amp power supply with a 2.1mm inside diameter DC barrel jack, center point positive.
The Arduino Mega used for the assembly can be found here:
    www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...
The jumpers for the Wi-Fi shield can be found here:
    www.amazon.com/dp/B07SW4WDFR?...
I am by no means an expert at DCC-EX or the DCC technology. I'm still learning!
If anyone has a spare DCC locomotive, please drop me a line! 😎

The "POS" WiFi shield can be reflashed with the older version firmware that works with DCC-EX. It didn't work because it had a newer version firmware. Many YT vids show how to do it.

I'm aware of the possibility of reflashing the firmware, but it would involve having to buy the hardware to do it and then downloading and installing the firmware. Makerfabs destroyed those cards in favor of making new cards with cooperation from DCC-EX.

Dude, you went to the effort of wearing latex gloves, then started stabbing it with a screw driver while it was powered up, lol.

Dave, isn't that something you would do... glove up first then kill.. lol

I have all this working with a test track but how do I incorporate this onto my real track? I have a Bachmann power booster that I need to use to drive more trains at once so what connects to what? I don’t want to blow anything up! Appreciate anyone’s help with this. Thanks

      Hi Tim,
The test track will need to be isolated from your layout; I use Atlas isolated rail joiners. As for the Bachmann power booster, sorry but I'm at a loss. Consult with a Facebook model railroading group and perhaps they can guide you.
