  • For anyone with an interest in going to DCC but laments the thought of the buzzing sound when running DC trains on DCC setups, this video is for you.

    Great video. I agree that it does not matter if you are running DC or DCC. It is if you are happy with it. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi John,
      Thank you for feeling for the same way I do, and for enjoying the video.

    Hello Mastic Short Line,
    Thanks for showing the difference in DCC AC {PWM} frequency vs DC {PWM} frequency in your video.
    In the next Production release of DCC-EX version 5.4 we have also added the ability to set the Analog DC cabs Frequency by address, using F-Keys F29, F30 or F31 so you can adjust the tonal sound in real time that comes from the DC engine when it's under power.
    Here are two examples of a DCC-EX ROSTER setup.
    //EXRAIL Defined CAB DC ROSTER(address,"name"," FREQ F-keys ") // Spaces then Frequency F29 F30 F31
    ROSTER(2001, "KCS 2001", "DC/////////////////////////////FQ490 Hz/FQ3400 Hz/FQ62500Hz/") // Analog DC Motor Only Diesel
    ROSTER(9120, "CP 9120", "DC/////////////////////////////FQ490 Hz/FQ3400 Hz/FQ62500Hz/") // Analog DC Motor Only Diesel
    The Mega DCC-EX Command Station frequency are
    Default 131 Hz
    F29 490 Hz
    F30 3400 Hz
    F32 62500 Hz {only for next new Command Station uC processors ESP32-Wroom & the STM32 F4xxx Nucleo}
    You can test these with the latest development versions DCC-EX 'devel' v5.2.50 and Engine Driver Beta v2.37.179 releases.

      Hi Kevin,
      Thank you SO MUCH for your appreciation of my presentation. Thank you also for sharing the latest developments with DCC-EX, Engine Driver and EX-RAIL. If it will truly enhance DC operations, then I may just kick the thought of buying decoders for my DCC-Ready locomotives to the curb! It may also prompt me to do a follow-up video in the future.
      I've printed your comment so I can keep it handy but, of course, the noob that I kinda still am I might go to the Discord and/or Facebook page for guidance.
      Thank you again.
