      Many large businesses, which can negotiate having short term demurraging fees waved, such as large department stores, are using containers for short term storage, especially around the holidays. So there may be a market for these after all.

    Interesting concept, but at $50k new, max speed of 3-mph, not road-legal, and set-up time in the half-hour range, I see buying a used container-forklift for $5k far more realistic. With the forklift, you can load and unload containers from a flatbed truck, there's no way to take a container from parking lot to load-frame with these trinkets. My god, you can almost buy a NEW fork loader for what these list for!

      Not sure where you're getting your numbers but scrap value of a container capable lift is well over $5k and you're going to be over $50k for one that simply starts and operates reliably, a good container lift is going to start at $75k and go up from there, but I agree this unit is pointless.

  • @PeterAlexanderWelch
    @PeterAlexanderWelch Před 6 lety

    Reading all these comments all seem to come from people who have never had to work around containers filled with work goods. It is meant for a small yard were you have 15-20 different containers that are all filled for different purposes. This way you can push them into tighter spaces, keeping your small yard free from clutter. You can bring the container you need inside, prep it with all the gear needed for a job then take it outside, ready for the swinglift to pick it up and send it to the job site.
    Or it can be used to transport containers around a site, so that you can work on many projects without getting a crane in every time. Or transporting your forklift to site to move your containers around.
    Those that say get a forklift, do you know how much a forklift cost that can pick up 17 tons? It is an excellent solution for a specific issue, and if you have never been in the situation that you may need one, then try and think outside of your square.

    • @housepumpinpc3983
      @housepumpinpc3983 Před 6 lety

      For everything that thing can do, a forklift could do better. Stacking is out the question. Tight spaces don't qualify because you have to be able to move the back wheels out the way and that contraption doesn't seem light. I'd be willing to bet that moving that would take that same truck. I'm sure you can get a used forklift for 50k maybe even less.

  • @legohead6
    @legohead6 Před 7 lety +7

    how do you get these units in and out of a truck? They look way to heavy even for 2 people. Overly complex and impractical for most applications. You can pickup a real nice Container forklift, or even a rollback truck for way less then these are worth. Simpler, only require 1 person, Forklift is MUCH quicker, and with the truck at least you can take it on the highway.

    • @deezelfairy
      @deezelfairy Před 5 lety

      It is for a niche for exactly what you say, places where a forklift or crane is inaccesable and also places where an additional 20-30tonnes of forklift is not an option. Its a neat idea, a bit pricey but I can see the uses for it.
      It's meant for people who occasionally need to move containers a short distance (feet, not miles! 😂) , possibly on job sites and can't justify the cost of a big forklift. Also it's more portable, moving a 15 tonne capacity forklift to a site is a huge expense!

    Completely pointless. And here's why: 1) It takes too much time and effort to set it up, to use it at a port, or otherwise industrial area. It would be much more useful if both ends were single components and both with small lawnmower engines to power the hydraulics. Then not in use the end pieces could be connected to each-other towed as a small trailer. Any respectable industrial area would surely have the correct large machine to do this job much faster. 2) This will hopefully never be street-legal. Can you imagine this thing coming at you at any speed? In no way can a vehicle that small and light stop a 20+ ton container.
