  • In your organic chemistry or biology class, you will come across the terms dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis. But what do they mean? And what's the difference between dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis?
    In this video, we will be answering those questions and more:
    0:32 Catabolism vs Anabolism
    1:13 Dehydration synthesis
    3:19 Hydrolysis
    Have fun!

    Yes, i understand the examples of synthesis reactions can form reactions to make new chemical bonds like photosynthesis. Plants need to make their own food

    So its more like dehydration synthesis when it Joines together to monomers it will remove H2O and which technically with only oxygen anything is a polynomial polynomial such a newborn is formed by removing water molecule
    Hydrolysis is a process in which basically the water molecule is Added to break down polynomers

    does this mean that dehydration sysnthesis produces ATP? or do both of the reactions produce it?

    • @JoaosLab
      @JoaosLab  Před 5 měsíci

      ATP can be produced in hydrolysis. Dehydration synthesis, on the other hand, is a process where water is removed to join two molecules together. It is not involved in the production of ATP but is important in other biological processes such as the formation of polymers like carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids.
