Hi All, glad to see you enjoyed this episode & the story as a whole. I`ve never come across a character like River Song, in anything else I have watched, as regards her timestream. But as the Dr. has said, Time is like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

River is one of the most complicated, yet fully realized, sci-fi stories out there. The challenge, I believe, was tying all of this together so the initial impact of her first (and last) appearance still made sense, even after all of the time-wimey had gone by over the seasons. In this episode, River mentions how last time she saw him, the Doctor had a suit a new haircut (Peter Capaldi), that he cried without telling her the reason why, and that he even gave her his sonic (which saves her life here). All of this happened in the show, simply supported here by Alex Kingston's initial reaction to learning the 10th Doctor didn't know who she was yet. Kingston couldn't know what was to come, and yet, it still works beautifully, even after all these episodes. It is one of the major reasons I wanted to get to writing : "Oh, we can do THIS with a story ?! Colour me in !!"

@@TheChronomancers I don't know if I'm talking to one of the chronomancers or the ruler of the cubicles but have you all watched the tv show where capaldi is a chriminal? The devil's hour.

@@Blacklion1883 No !! We don't get all (or even much) British programming in Canada anymore, (on television), so recently, the only prominent show that was aired over here was TEMPLE, which I really enjoyed, before the pandemic knock it out forever... But yes, it reminded me of the good dramas that we sometimes got in years past, and of the excellent performances, such as Capadli's... (Sigh) I miss that kind of leading man on my TV... :)

A great finish to the two-parter, and some great reactions by the crew. If you can get them to cry without releasing mustard gas into the atmospheric system, it's a good episode. And do I sense wedding bells in the future for a certain demi-lich and a certain sentient sun? 👨‍❤‍💋‍👨💍

Well, now... Just you stay tuned and see... Things have taken a... euhm, change, lately. The whole story is currently featured in a short story, available to Patreon subscribers, and to be honest, it is probably one of the finer short stories I've ever written... If you like GoT's' Red Wedding, well, let's just say this one might leave a bitter taste in your mouth... As for the mustard gas, here's the thing: I seek genuine emotions, therefore, genuine tears. And these four are tough nuts to crack. That is why I have hesitated showing them Lord of the Rings for so long, cuz I don't want to be the only one to be shedding genuine tears... And I don't even have tears ducts anymore !!

One of them asked what is at the end of the universe, from what I remember there is a restaurant at the end of the universe.

Oh, how I long to show them the '81 adaptation of Hitchhiker's Guide, the 6 part mini-series of 1/2 hour episodes... I softened the blow a little by introducing them to Red Dwarf, which had a lot to do, initially, with Hitchhiker's mood and style. So who knows, if more people chime in in the comments, I might actually get around to showing them the secret to Life, the Universe and Everything...!

@@TheChronomancers I love the '81 adaptation. Every reactor, bar one, has watched the visually stunning but watered down film version which is good in it's own way but nothing in comparison the TV series.

    • @TheChronomancers

I know, right...? Showing them the movie would be an easy out, but I feel it really doesn't represent the original mood of the records, the radio plays, the books or the original series. It would be like showing them a condensed version with only the weirdness kept in but none of the humor...

    • @garymarshall4447

@@TheChronomancers Agreed, the film took too many liberties with the original story and failed to address the ulimate point, if 42 is the answer then what is the question? Im not sure if there was supposed to be a sequel but the film left too many unanswered questions! Incidentally, as a 14 year old boy I had a massive crush on Sandra DIckinson and only later found out that she was married to Peter Davison and mother to Georgia Tennant, which now makes her David Tennant's mother-in-law!

    • @TheChronomancers

Same here... I understand the cliffhanger ending, but the movie hadn't earned that from us before we eventually got there... I mean the 'post office' scene was great, but is that enough to build a movie around...? So no, no sequel... And yes, I also had a crush onTrillian as well, back then, she always seemed to be the only one who was well-balanced and who adapted quickly to new, impossible situations... I guess Georgia Moffat has a lot of sci-fi genetics on her shoulders now, with that family legacy behind her...!
