- Melbourne has broken through for its maiden AFLW premiership, shaking off a slow start and underdog status to beat Brisbane by four points at Brighton Homes Arena.
The teams were separated by just 0.3 per cent on the ladder at the end of the home-and-away season, and the game played out like it too, a see-sawing, high-pressure affair with a nail-biting fourth quarter, seeing the Dees come to the good in the 2.7 (19) to 2.3 (15) result. - Sport

Hello, at the full time siren, did the ball roll through the goal points for an extra point(s) , if it did, why was the point(s) not added to the Melb score ?? (I know the result did not change)
If the ball was in flight it would count but it doesn't if the ball has hit the ground.
Doesnt matter if it hits the ground. So long as it has left the boot before the siren

people are really out there dragging this game because there were only four goals scored. i would rather watch a close, low scoring game that had me on the edge of my seat the whole last quarter as opposed to a blowout where the game was decided by halftime like the mens grand final was. now if only the women could actually get some competent umpires…

I think as the AFLW goes on the standard will progressively get better. Women's football has not been a professional sport for very long, so it's going to take a while for the standard to get higher. Just remember that men's football took a long time to become the high scoring affair that we expect today as well.

A bizarre choice of venue. It looks like a Country Football Ground but with fewer seats and facilities than what most Country grounds offer the public.
Well Aflw is a much worse spectacle than even an under 14 boys team. They don't deserve to play at big stadiums.👎

I watched this from Canada. I do respect the effort and passion on both sides. However the game was pretty much a "lolly scramble" mostly in the mid field.I agree with many posters. The field is a tad too big for the women's game. I have seen some decent AFLW games this season. Skill development is coming along I think but it will take a while yet.

The Match should have been played at Ikon Park, playing a ground final at a ground that has a grass hill and almost no seating or shelter from the elements is a terrible look for the AFLW.
i heard about sheila footy 2 years ago this is my first look. I got the laugh i expected, this game has become so weak , i bet if you matched AFL mens premiers with a sheilas team the sheials would win, to gay for me, gl ya'll.
I can appreciate the game.....I just cant appreciate the commentry when they start referring to " four quarter performace" ...or " inside outside game" or " really locked it in their forward line " etc etc. Seriously a team that kicked 2 goals has won a grandfinal. Can we settle down on the expert commentry one liners pls.

I don't mind watching women's football but when these AFL women players want men's money you were joking yourselves low scoring games skill level is not up2scratch you need a long way to go before you can compare to the men do a 30-year stint without getting paid like the men did then slowly slowly they got paid as their skill level got better you should be doing the same mate you want to live on the back of men you want to be rewarded for something that still needs work it is joke
Some of these woman are overweight. The quality and skill level is at under 13 boys level yet they get televised and paid. They haven't earned the right and will be parasites on the men's game for years to come!👎
