- Hey y'all! Let me show you our favorite math program for Kindergarten!
What's your favorite math curriculum or resource?
I have now almost completed two full grade levels with Singapore Dimensions Math, and my only regret is not starting both my girls with the PK level. We seriously love everything about this math curriculum. I find it to be flexible and easy to use. My kids think it's fun, and I am consistently impressed with how it presents concepts.

We use RightStart which had similar math manipulatives. I like how colorful everything is in the work book--a few friends of mine use Singapore and really like it! 💕💕

Love love singapore dimensions math. I had started with horizons, went to masterbooks and then the winner was singapore math.

I love that they include storybooks related to the concept, that's super cool. I'm definitely interested in using Singapore when my boys are older...but we will see if I can make that work, the problem is that they aren't available in PDF, and it's been tough to get anything non-PDF since the pandemic. But I'm not in a rush to move onto kindergarten too fast...
They do have a PK level. But I totally understand that shipping may be an issue.
I'm looking forward to the pdf version as well.. actually I contacted the company few days ago and they told me they will be realising the pdf version in the near future.. I'm from Italy and the shipping cost is higher that the curriculum itself...

We are using Math-U-See right now. My daughter flew through Primer. We are on Alpha now. Debating on switching to this. What will you use after 5B? I’ve heard with MUS that I will need to stick with it for the long haul. So if I’m wanting to switch, I should make the decision soon.
I am unsure what we will use after 5B. I am holding out hope that they will expand the program hahaha.
We are using Singapore Dimensions this school year I am so excited for the switch. I was wondering did you use the Pk for your 4 year old or did you just start with Ka and Kb ? And If so what did you think of the pk dimensions?
I WISH I had started with PK. My daughter probably needed it. I started with KA when she was newly 4, because I already had it on hand from my oldest. And because my 4yr seemed to meet the work of KA easily. She got through all of KA easily and loved every minute. Now, we're about 1/4 of the way through KB, and she's more challenged. I still think she will be fine with it, but it may take us longer to get through KB. She will turn 5 in the fall, and I could easily see how she may not be ready for some of the KB concepts until then. So if you have a young 4 year old, I would suggest starting with PK. If they fly through it, great.

We don’t use tests books either. We love hands on learning. We don’t do mental maths but I try to include real life examples.
Same! I'm not sure how much we will end up using the test books but I have them to try out for 2A & 2B

It depends on whether it's a new concept or not, but typically I would say 2 days per lesson for my 7.5 year old. For my 4 year old, maybe 3 days per lesson

You obviously love this curriculum but do you feel the option to use manipulatives is enough for a kinesthetic learner? I’m debating between this curriculum or RightStart! I think my daughter will like the look of Singapore Dimensions but would do well with all of the manipulatives of RightStart! Too many options haha
We use a lot of manipulatives with Dimensions. A lot! Like every lesson. My eldest is very kinesthetic. But I can save money by printing things at home, using Shopkins as counters or using household items. I debated RightStart as well, but I just didn't feel their particular manipulatives were worth the price. I've heard it's a fantastic program though! Just not for my budget
When I saw flip through I was hoping to see both text books not the teachers guides. I still have no idea what is in the books.
I do show a sample lesson page out of the text book and the workbook. I'm sorry about not showing more.
We currently use MUS but it’s moving way too fast. My daughter can’t conceptualize the teens or numbers past 10. She can’t quite remember why they all mean as far as place value. Can you offer example in how Singapore introduces place value?
Mus moves from units-tens-hundreds very quickly and that just isn’t working for us. She understands units, addition, subtraction so much more.
It teaches place value in such a great way I think... They start by grouping numbers to the nearest 10 long before they are working with 2 digit numbers. Then, later they actually introduce tens place and ones place. They work with that for a while before introducing hundreds.
How do you know they are coming out with home instructor guides for parents? I’m looking through the website and can’t find it. 😢

My daughter is 5 years old and she knows number 1-100, less then greater then, difference size and addition substations 1-10. do you think so Kindergarten book will be useful to her ?
Great question! I actually pulled out my books to remind myself of the scope and sequence... I definitely think you could skip KA books. KB includes a lot of foundational work for the curriculum method, such as working with Number Bonds. It also covers basics for Time and Money - telling time to the hour, coin identification. If you feel like she is adept in those areas, skip to level 1 :)
When I look online it's says dimensions goes to eighth grade 6-8 the books do look different so are they not part of dimension set
I have the same thoughts. I know a couple people that went ahead with the Dimensions books for 6+ and they say it's QUITE different. I'm planning on switching to a different math program for middle and high school. We'll be in the last "official" Dimensions level in the upcoming school year - 5th grade.

I think it's essential because that tells me what manipulatives to use for each concept, offers me game and activity ideas and even picture book suggestions for each concept
