    Funny thing is: if u just watch both of them phisical behaiviour, Jungleman is like the most open and humble guy u will ever find, and Bonomo is like "are you talking to me? dont u understand how great I am and that my face allready knows it all"? xD, I mean even his mouth and his eyebrows are full of "pride".

    Interesting interview, especially the part where he says most poker players eventually regret that career, even the successful ones. And then it strikes me that I have never seen Justin smile or laugh and he always looks depressed at the tables.

      I know a lot of poker players that are extremely happy in life… Justin is depressed and thinks that everyone feels like that, he ends up bringing people down with this attitude

    15:15 Justin touches on something here that not many ppl ever talk about in that you have to hide your emotions all day everyday and I literally found myself being over emotional away from the table on a constant basis and fell into a depression it recks havoc on your soul

    Incentive alignment in AI is the same problem we see within most areas that you touched on. In the same way that these AI models are built with certain algorithmic incentives, we have built a society with an incentive structure centered around money. It is why social media is such a cesspool. Money as the main driver is now becoming more and more misaligned with furthering a better society. The incentive structure has to change if we want to evolve and create something better. AI makes us face this reality as its progress should not be related to how much money someone can make but how we can as safely as possible advance this technology for the benefit of all. Thankfully it not only makes us face that reality but should give us ways to create that new reality.
    Enjoyed the pod.

    Haven’t watched this through at all but as a conservative it’s very interesting seeing people at the top of games and fields that require lots of brainpower with liberal views. There’s a good amount of studies on it that prove high iq individuals tend to have liberal views but I’m still curious why

    • @dr.hairbrain1486
      @dr.hairbrain1486 Před rokem

      Actually people who report as conservative have a significant IQ advantage over lefties.

      I'd venture to say that those "at the top" tend to realize that they will be heard, therefore are
      incentivized to virtue-signal.

      One reason is that Academia has been taken over by liberals, and thus university students get indoctrinated - creating a high society of partisan liberals. One hundred years ago academia was very much right wing.

    • @generalwasteman
      @generalwasteman Před 8 měsíci

      Broadly speaking people are more liberal when they are younger, the naivety of youth amongst other things I guess, then a significant swathe move more conservative as life happens eg family kids mortgages etc etc. If someone has a lot of success financially early in life they tend to not have to move as much socially after that and therefore ‘stay liberal longer’ than the general population just trying to pay the bills. Hanging out in yoga circles in your mid/late 30s like Justin does isn’t gonna give you much perspective politically.
