If you are going with an organised tour, they will provide you with bags as this is what their Sherpas will carry for you. We did bring our 60l bags to get there but we never used them on the trek. You definitely need good hiking boots, not trainers.

I wore La Sportiva Trango TRK and never had so much as a hot spot the whole two weeks. They were great boots. Trail is very rugged. I wouldn't recommend trail runners but plenty of people were wearing them. I used an Osprey Talon 22 for my daypack. Perfect size.

    Did you need diamox?

Yes! This was provided by our tour company, and our guides told us what to take and when. So if doing it by yourself you may want to buy some. Easy to get out there. I still got some altitude sickness though!

Looks like a poorly planned trip. When you go to these remote parts of the world you can't expect to have luxuries, selected foods etc. Better go visit a developed city or country rather than going to places like Everest Base Camp and complain about these things. I don't think you should do hiking trips ever.
