Thanks for sharing another entertaining and informative video!!!! The wealth of knowledge you possess is astronomical and Scotty, you are a National Treasure and I really appreciate you and your knowledge!!!! 💞🤗💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Cousin EDDY comes to mind!😳🇺🇸
Scotty is doin' all the work and the dog stole the show!!!🤣🤣🤣
You're such a red neck, Scotty.
Hi from Danmark 🌏🌱🌳🐝🌬🌞🌈❤️
I want this for a half year to see your country 👍
Scotty will never be homeless as long as he has a Toyota.
🤣 LMAO
Dude, same
I have one so that's good!
🤣🤣🤣
I lived out of a Toyota Camry for five years! Plenty of room for storage in the trunk.... 😉
Full time RV life since I was 18 I'm 38 now love every minute of it cheaper than a mortgage payment 😎 and I own it
I'm still doing the RV life work out of town as a trucker stay in it I am 70 and have had some kind of camper for 45 years on and off
even with gas prices skyrocketing? how do you make it work ? you must be independently wealthy? do travel or stay in one location year round? They are so expensive!
Yes sir! I bought a house now. I'll never make that mistake again. Been doing this for ten years. 3 in a box truck I built!
15 years in rv living im on my 4th camper lol
@@qp4367 A lot of people set them up in campgrounds and pay annually to stay year round, put skirting on them and build decks around them
You can tell Scotty is excited. Camera is moving erratic and my grandma can see clearly from a mile away how far the camera is zoomed in.
So you think your grandma is scotty's cameraman?
😂
😂😂
I really enjoy seeing Scotty get so excited about older vehicles and bring back our memories too !
So do I.
Scotty talks with his hands and his handheld filming style lives up to expectations. 🤣
Yes, for people who fell behind due to the ongoing crisis, if you have some savings of a few thousand, you can buy one of these to put a roof over your head. At least you won't be living on the street. This will buy you some time until you can get back on your feet again.
If we don’t.. we are fucked
But you have to pay for parking, the police ticket them in almost every city
@@micco6020 You can stay at any Walmart parking lot for free
@Micco Come to San Francisco, it's free and you are allowed to park anywhere as long as you move it during street cleaning. We have dozens and dozens of RV parked here. Also the weather here in mild, no need for ac and heater.
@@weirdmatter Not all Walmart allow RV parking. You'll need to check with the store manager.
What an ingenious idea putting the date on the parts, gonna have to use that idea 👍🏻 just goes to show you, that even at 51,you never stop learning new things and that's a good thing
Ikr?! I was thinking same. I wonder what you can use to do the marking so that it shows up and is permanent?? It looked like he used something that wrote in white. Paint?!? 🤷♀️
I got a 77 Ford RV with the 351 Windsor. 75,000 miles and engine and transmission in unbelievable condition. Other than an oil change and radiator flush, everything is as good as new. Couldn't be happier. $2,000 bucks. I actually watch your videos to learn how to take care of it, so this one is right up my alley. Now that I've done all the maintenance myself, (with your help) I have an appointment tomorrow to have a mechanic look it over and make sure I didn't miss anything. I hope he is as good as you.
That's awesome! Be gentle on the old girl and who knows how long it might last!
I am envious
LUV how the mechanic labeled his repairs. Brilliant!!
My sign language instructor had a heart attack watching Scotty explain why you can't buy a Toyota.
Rolling laughing!
YIKES !
😂😂🤣🤣
😂😂👏👏👏
Lololol
Sweet.. I lived in a 1975 Dodge 22 ft for 7 years.. it was cool.. never complained.. better than living on the streets.
360 2bbl.. auto .. strong.. easy fixer.. cheap. I filled up by Bellingham mn. 35 dollars.. than again outside of mpls.. 30 dollars. Gas was 1. 89... it was fast too. I'd love to buy another one.
Bellingham?!? Morris here 😁 I had a '77 20 ft.
Scotty and the dog traveling the country would make a great sitcom. Or possibly a crime solving drama.
😂 LMAO. That would be a great show
REV UP YOUR POOCH
I'd ship it!
All new Scotty and Pooch tonight at 7.
😂
I been living the RV live for for five years now. I just got a new rig and July it's a 2000 Chevy 3500 and only had 54,000 miles and I paid $3500!! Love your videos!! Ty
They thought the model was the price tag?
That's not bad
How did you get such a killer deal is it a 90 something?
@@cheems5643 it needed to be put back together inside! Runs like a dream tho!
how on earth are you all finding these deals on motorhomes?
Hey Scotty. This is a great idea u should get an RV and travel the USA and meet your fans and diagnose or review their cars. CALL it Scotty's Fan Tour. U are great. Thanks for all your work
I had a 87 Chevy mallard. 350 4 bolt main with turbo 400 transmission. It was completely self contained with generator and water tank hot water heater and everything. I lived in that for 5 years. I wish I still had it
I traded my '78 Dodge RV that I lived in for 7 years before trading it for a Class A Dodge motor home that I lived in for another 3 years, saving a ton of money by not having to rent. Sold that RV for $1000 and bought another Dodge RV for $2000, which I lived in while having my home built on 5 acres. Sold that RV to a friend for $1500 (a steal of a deal for him). He and his family use it often. There's a little known secret on escaping rent by owning an RV...an easy and safe way to avoid having to rent. Hint: It's called security. There are thousands of businesses, especially in commercial lots, that will provide you with electricity, water, and sometimes even a key to their building for the use of their bathroom IF you agree to be on their site every night for security. I lived behind a rock and roll club in California for years. Long story but it can be done if you're willing to live small.
Thx for both posts gentlemen.
Young people really need it🤙🏻😎
@@rickreese5794 You don't have to be young to buy an RV and live small while saving money to buy a home for you and your family. If you can afford a plot of land and have the money to purchase an RV, you're on your way to rent-free self-sufficiency. Whenever I visit Hawaii, I always buy a camper van and live in it while vacationing. I then sell it when ready to return to the mainland. I'm actually surprised more people don't do this. It's fun and exciting and financially sound.
@@GetRealBaby
U bet cha.
@@GetRealBaby that sounds like interesting times. :)
I don’t need an RV, I just like Scotty making sense and cracking jokes.
I had a similar RV with a 440. It was an amazing engine. You can tell Scottys age by the way he feathers the gas pedal trying to start it.!
That was and is a necessary action on some of those old engines that have set up for a while. Sometimes the automatic choke will be stuck in the open position.
These can be rebuilt mostly using materials from Home Depot. The wood rots. You can make a car hauler from this B series chassis. Lots of Dodge RVs have donated 413 and 440 v8s to muscle cars. I'm a fan of the b series, were built from 1970 until 2003.
My Dad had a floor and wall covering busy and always bought Dodges. 66,74,78, and an 85. Used hard and held up great. Hearing that Chrysler starter brings back lots of memories. Thanks Scottie
Back in the day no other starter sounded like a Chrysler starter. You could instantly tell when somebody was starting a Chrysler Dodge or Plymouth vehicle.. lol
Chrysler used a gear reduction starter instead of a direct drive like Ford and GM.
Scotty is a classic ... love his stuff. Always optimistic and always good info !
Wow what an incrediblely CLEAN FRAME UNDERCARRIAGE!!!
Scotty says - "He's not dumb, he bought this for $5,000 dollars". Well, here in Seattle you can pick up bigger RVs from the police impound that have been lived in on our streets for only $20 plus fees. You'll have to tow it. But that's about the same as this Dodge.
What a beautiful, wonderful city Seattle was, before The Party.
Then what? Hire a homeless person to clean it out? I wouldn’t want to that’s for sure.
Rather have simple that an old guy can fix because he did it back then & drove similar.
Scot means the usual cheap not the rare $20 cop auction cheap.
@@jamesrecknor6752 I first went to Seattle in 1971 just 10 yrs after the 61 World's Fair. Seattle was a beautiful little city you could walk downtown end to end in 15 minutes. I would have stayed but for the lack of jobs. There was little to no work because Boeing was on an extended strike. Guys with Ph. D.s in aeronautics working at McDonald's and hardware stores just to support their families. Visited for a couple weeks in 2005 still nice but way more developed. The damage the woke city council have done to Seattle in past 15 yrs is a disgrace.
The torque is fantastic! Great shape underneath, but RVs roofs are always suspect!
I like how Ford, Chevy and Dodge used to make these -- like you showed with the easy access to the most common parts of the engine that may need maintenance / repair. Modern ones are all tucked up in the engine compartment now and you basically have to remove the engine in some cases, just to work on them (and removing the engine usually means at least taking off the grille, and in some models, even the fenders).
I helped a friend on a used car hunt. She looked at an Outback. We popped the hood and the prior owner had all the stuff labeled for dates changed and even engine oil brand and weight. I said « if you like Outbacks, buy this one. »
Great way to keep track of stuff, labeling it all. 👍
That 440 can scream if needed! Dukes of Hazzard? True Dual exhaust good. I used those old muzzlers back in the day and they were great. Open the intake. Easy in more out! Change the house battery to a lithium 100ah or bigger if possible. Grease the carrier bearings, CIGS stickable solar will help too! All fluids and filters. Seal the front and make sure the marker lights all work because cops are ready now. Great video as always and glad you are all over the map and not just one way. Your variety of topics is great, thank you.
My Grandfather had a 1975 version. He drove it for 20 years. Over 150k.
I did this for 2 1/2 almost 3 years… It’s not as easy or as fun as it looks. Winters suck. And there’s always something wrong with the damn things. Mine was a 2004 Fleetwood pioneer that I took really good care of and even did a bunch of upgrades to. It’s currently sits waiting to be sold but probably never will be.
I lived on the side of the road in a camper for years. It was awesome. The freedom was nice
Side of the road? How far off the road? What State?
Remember when the WEF told us we would own nothing and be happy…..? That’s kind of what their agenda was convincing people to sell everything and buy and rv…where u gonna park that rv when city ordinances say u can’t park anywhere to live lol
@@joedingy9854 Oakland California. It was just a dead end road, there was a construction company right next to us and we became friends with the owner so he never had an issue with us being there. I mean we kind of kept the tweakers away so it worked out for him too

Scotty's energy is unreal! LOL
I watch at 2x speed, he's insane at that rate
To many energy drinks ?
He’s got that BDE
I’d hate to see if this dude Really got excited 😂
Not bad for $5k! Also I’ve been watching this woman who lives out of her Honda Pilot with her dog and travels and all that. Good stuff Scotty!
Waste of money. Hunk of garbage. Plain and simple.
He paid too much.
That camper would sell for $15,000 here in California. If not more.
@@keithshepherd4693 I agree I live in San Diego California and somebody would definitely pay 9000 for that
@@ocularpressure4558 Hell, I live in Illinois and it would sell for 14k easy, even with the faulty heater and the starter replacement
Being an RV technician. That awning is manual and probably needs replaced. The ends at the bottom might also be ready to break. I've had many break on older units and replacements are difficult to find. Could easily convert to electric with that age of camper. Might want to upgrade some of the components inside just because of difficulty to get replacement parts. I'd change out the fridge for a norcold 12 volt or a furrion 12 volt off grid just to eliminate the gas hazard. It will be a nice project vehicle and a decent purchase for $5k.
It's nice to have propane for backup when there is no electricity
I lived in a 1974 VW van for three years in the 1990's. In 2018-2020 I lived in a 1979, 25' Dodge Rockwood RV. I have since bought a property, 2.88 acres with 12 assorted buildings for $18,000, but still have a travel trailer.
What state did you buy in? I'm looking...esp where there are no zoning regulations
I LOVE the the the little picture accents in the top right corner !!!
I love your videos Scotty & I’m praying the best for you.
These respond very well to the replacement of the carburetor with a throttle body fuel injection system. My neighbor picked up 2-3 mpg (depending on terrain) on regular gas with his Class-C RV about that size. Another 1-2 mpg can be obtained by making it 48 state legal by eliminating the CARB equipment if legal in your state, too. Keep highway speed at 60 or below, and 8-9 mpg is possible on fairly flat roads. Good video. Thanks!
Probably a lot less gas smell too!
The engine and transmission will last a lot longer if you don't dog it all of the time .
love the videos scotty, keep up the good work👌🏾
Yea, don't miss a vedio. Don't always agree, but that's just a gearhead disagreement! But, I'm a Ford guy, but and old Dodge class c is a good choice!
Brings back memories of my first job. This chassis was probably built at the Warren Truck Compact building where I worked 2nd shift on the sealer deck/paint department!
A Dodge that Scotty likes??? Now the entire car industry is TRULY shocked 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Love you Scotty!
He lives in a van down by the river !
Hitting the starter with a hammer used to be a thing with the Ford Taurus because Ford put it's cheapest starter on them. This '77 Dodge on the other hand is just old, it needs a new starter, a good tune-up and some TLC to make it like new again.
I appreciate you making light out of this.
i got 5 of them on this claim or that used for housing and a few trailers and campers too. Vans are cheaper to run in.
When I was a kid (and by that I mean when Star Wars was first run in theaters) I remember those GM motor homes. I thought those were really cool looking and I wanted my dad to buy one. I also wanted him to buy a big Cadillac Eldorado or Lincoln Continental but none of those were going to happen.
I love these videos. They remind me of the commercials I watched growing up in the 80s n 90s...like "Come down to Screamin Scotty's Mattress Sale! Everything Must Go! You Want It? We'll Figure that $hit Out! Don't Miss 50% off Saturdays!!" Something like that
I absolutely love that beast! Always wanted one! Thanks for the memories!
Scotty your my favorite youtuber and your the man
I have learnt much from you Scotty, inspiring the low income earners how to cope up with maintenance of their vehicles also your sense of humor is therapeutic !!😛😛
I bought a 1981 RV 25ft had a 350 with a Rochester 4 barrel carb. It was on a Chevy chassis G30 one-ton. Drove and lived in it for 4 years. Replaced tires twice Carrier Bering had to replace them. Flushed Radiator, Front wheel bearings. Turned over-odometer Engine had been rebuilt before I bought it. 6 miles to the gallon 32 Gallon fuel tank. Drove to Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and back up to Washington State. Did all my own repairs I saved a ton of money. Thanks, Scotty great review of that old RV. Forgot to mention I towed my 1994 Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab pickup truck too.
I like that idea of writing the date on parts that you replace.
I'd love to take this on a road trip with scotty
Just don't stand too close when he starts talking 🕺
I had lots of fun watching this vid. Thank you Scotty.❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm seriously working on my car now, big or small jobs. I now have the confidence, thanks Scotty
I label sharpee marker or white mark dates parts/ stuff changed, too. It's a good practice. I also label the various bulb types & replace them gradually with Sylvania LEDS anytime I find em in stock at AZone & O'Really's or Wmart. Old Dodge's are decent especially if it has the slant6.👍
I love that the mechanic marked the parts with dates replaced. What is usually used to mark car parts so that the dates don't come off so easily? Thank you!
Hey man use a paint pen. They write on just about anything and come in a lot of colors. I use bright orange to mark parts(relation marks) get them at Walmart. I think they are $4?
@@jordanlawson6132 Hey, thanks! :D
That's not too bad of a price. Epecially if they're waterproof. 👍

I would love to see that RV on the drag strip

Great work Scotty, That's exactly what I 'm looking for !
I loved this video!!! Thanks Scotty!
This guys enthusiasm is off the charts!
That owner dude has got some BIG gomers if he was going 85 mph in that ancient contraption!😂
There wasn't a date on the starter 🤣🤣🤣
These old RVs are great. I bought a 2000 class A sea view, manufactured on a Ford F500 chassis. I love it!
I toured an old '63 Ford shortbus for a while, its good to have a spare and temp guage, and a little know how when all your life possessions are at the whim of an old ride:)
$5grands way to much for that .
Scotty doesn’t need a microphone. That’s why I enjoy him😂
The whole neighborhood gets the information. 😅

Keep them coming Scotty!
If he wants to live out of a motorhome, he should build his own, “stealth” motorhome, in other words, have a motorhome that looks like a Frito lay delivery truck. Otherwise, he’s going to get hassled by the cops whenever he parks somewhere
Yep. A bunch of those are on Tiny home site
Scotty can take a chance on these old vehicles because he knows how to fix them himself.👍
Awesome review!
This is what I’ve done for many years…labeled everything in my house with replacement date. Furnace…a/c…water heater…fridge.
Always thought about living in a motorhome when I get older. Something about the freedom
You're not really free, you pay for camp ground fees and are stressed out from not getting parking tickets.
I would love to start along the southern border and just zigzag across America and into Canada.
Across America and on the ship to China.

You're great Scotty! Love your videos! God bless you!
I'm surprised that Scottie's shrieky voice didn't trigger the dog....
Good luck trying to get into an RV park with that old jalopy!😂
There are plenty of places he can park it....
Here in the UK I fancy a couple are living in one. They turn up in our village now and again, I last saw them a few days ago. I considered doing the same in between houses but bought a caravan instead, you can't stop off on the sly anymore, only at proper campsites. Too expensive, too much moving around.
I've always worked on vehicles and have had a few RV's in my life. Currently just bought a 2019 Thor Vegas with the Ford Triton V10 engine. Oil changes or battery maintenance is near impossible to access either! They are both directly under the front passenger dash and required an panel to get at. I change my oil INSIDE the rig.
Scotty, you are entertaining while being educational!
This one made really happy.
Thank you Scotty 🙏🫀🙏
We got 8-10 mpg with the 440 in the 72 Imperial...In a heavy RV, I'm guessing 5 mpg. If you take it easy!
I used to have a '81 Chevy 3.0 with a 22' Fleetwood Tioga coach on it. Loved it. The only problem was some sort of vapor lock when it would start getting hot.
I live in Nevada full-time in a RAM Promaster City Van. I get 30 to 33 mpg with it. Small though I am comfortable.
Rev up your engines!
I love those rare occasions when a dog appears in a Scotty video
Thank you, Scotty!
We lived in a 35 foot Class A Motorhome for 5 years...We loved it...I started to get claustrophobic and sold it a couple years back...
A maintenance nightmare, Scotty. This is for an experienced mechanic like you -- only!!

I love the way this guy put dates on all the replaced auto parts ✔️✔️✔️ 😊 🛠️
A white paint pen is an essential piece of equipment. One use is labeling all those power adapters that come with electronics devices. But there are a million and one other uses.
Reminds me of an article in Road & Track magazine around 1970 when they road tested a "GT" (Garbage Truck). Did all the diagrams and specifications and performance runs just like they put the latest Maserati through.
The best way to get a mileage on that scow is radio carbon dating.
