- This is our PVC chicken feeder. It holds a 40 pound bag of feed. Our backyard chickens are pretty spoiled. We can go away for a week and they have lots of food. We have a neighbour come to collect the eggs.

@@oscarb9139 No more details were needed. Pretty self explanatory. If someone thought more details were needed I guarantee the dadgum chickens have starved 🤣 City chickens may not know how to eat off of the ground. 😂Beware.

What a great idea! I've seen ones similar but not with the grouped area at the top! I live in the Western suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia so I can only keep a few hens (5x). Boo hoo! I have a neighbour who complains about the sounds of the automatic feeder lids coming down. The ones where the chickens step on a foot pedal to access the feeder. So, I glued on soft rubber or more foam-like edging, but she didn't like the thud-thud sound of the feeder lid coming down either! Yep! Live next to a 'Karen'! The stories I could tell! She didn't even like my children (when they were younger) playing outside her house and my house in the cauld-de-sac. I thought it was great because I could keep an eye on them through the kitchen window whilst they played with a ball. Had to forget that one! Back to your feeder: I'd probably get covers for them to keep any mice that were tiny enough to get through the tiny holes in the fencing. I'm going to cement the base as they used to dig a tunnel under the fencing! Hopefully, that'll be enough, or I'll have to double up my fencing or something! The box up top is also great if it was out in a more open area as it would protect the lower tube openings from any rain!😊
We have 17 and the feeder holds a bag of feed which is nice. Lasts about a week or so. We had to move and we are going to make another one. Without the cap at the bottom. Make it a small U shape so nothing collects at the bottom. Your neighbour sounds really awful! We have had bad neighbour's but yours takes the cake!

Do you have problems with old feed at the bottom of the PVC feeders
The feeder holds a full bag.. after 2 bags I take the caps off the bottom and clean it out.
Do they have to reach really far?

Our old metal feeder got food everywhere.. alot more waste!
I like this! I've seen the pipes but I like how you can pour a whole bag in the box. How long until you have top re-fill?
Depends on how many chickens you have. We have 17 and we refill it weekly. Once a month we make sure the pipes are fully cleaned out.

We didnt have any issues. I did clean it all out every couple months. Make sure all the feed is eaten.

Our coop is fully sealed with vents throughout. If they were to get through the wood, we would see the hole and fix ASAP. We haven't had any issues.
What is the size of the pvc fittings, pipes amd caps for thiz build
We used 3 inch pipe. You could use bigger if you wanted to.
