Simplicity, peace, quiet, slow living, transforming the ordinary… these are all words that speak to me, something I have pursued throughout the years, having slowly found a lifestyle that works for me. While I share how I love to live, I believe the answer to your best life shouldn’t be outlined by anyone else. All our lives as so different, we each carry burdens, blessings, challenges, and privileges that help or hinder our journey. It’s our story, imperfect and messy, but completely our own. No one can understand what is best but you. For me, simple living refers to consuming less and valuing more, living below my means and balancing giving and receiving. My father had to also change his career mindset once he had unexpected health issues, he was a military officer and still deals with complications from decades of stress. He’s slowly finding his way in his new life retired, difficult but fruitful. Forever grateful for the service so many give in these tough jobs! Thank you!

Even though my husband and I live in the suburbs of a large city, I try to cultivate this as much as I can. We turned half our back yard into a garden, I do a lot of crafting, from sewing to crocheting, we spend time at a local nature preserve just wandering through the trees, and sometimes I just sit and listen to the quiet. Last summer I could hear an owl hooting somewhere nearby, the sound just barely audible through the dark. I grew up out in the country, and listening to that owl made me smile.
I said it before I'll say it now. You have wisdom far beyond your years. I sent my daughter your vlog because I believe your story has a meaning in what you say. It's a simple message in a fast pace of young life. One day you might want to write a book on your words. It's truly inspirational!🌻🌺🌱

What a wonderful way to start my morning. Listening to your voice and your wisdom gave me a peaceful start to my morning. My husband and I are in our 70ties and we start a search next week for a new home. It will be far from were I have lived all my life and it is stressful. But we will live close to our son so that is a blessing. What you said about life and burdens made me think that all need to make this move a joy is not to forget who I am and to keep my life simple. We are also in same age bracket and moving to be closer to our son out of state too. There is just this void and the craziness of the housing market. Anxiety on leaving the only state I have ever lived in and everything familiar had just started overtaking me when I read Paola too. A gentle reminder to take a breath and stay in the present moment. All will be well.
I am a single 72 who just moved to the Tampa area to be w my kids. It had been a radical change for me as I’ve never been in Florida or lived in a larger city. I’m struggling.

I love how you so gently touched the new flowers, first the purple (crocus?) and then the little white flower.....and right after, as you walked away, your dog came behind and stepped right on the little white flower!! Made me smile. We have to be ourselves and dogs will be dogs!

"To live simply is to live below your means"... if people - especially young people, sooner rather than later - could only grasp how important that is! We "want" so much, thinking that acquiring the subjects of our wants will make us happy. They almost never do! So many comments in your channel show how many people yearn for the simple life you espouse and portray... if only we could grasp that every decision we make brings us closer to a fulfilling, simple life - or it takes us farther away. Many - if not most - of our purchasing decisions are based on the power of culture and advertising, rather than the yearning of our soul. i needed this kick in the pants. My dream has always been a simple abode in the woods. When I divorced 5 years ago, I was ready....then my elderly parents needed assistance. My father has passed, my mother is in assisted living...but I'm now in the process of selling my home and moving to their until...well you know. Where I want to live is a couple hours away so that's not practical right now.
In the meantime, I'll keep planning and preparing. I'll make the best of my childhood home..I guess. Somehow making into my simple homey lifestyle and not my mother's upscale preferences.
Someday soon I will be going to the woods.

I started watching your channel when you first started making videos. I was in college, struggling with being a straight A student that felt she had no time for joy and pleasure. I would sometimes sit and cry, watching your videos and hearing their truth but feeling I could only on very rare occasions embody what I knew was true and good for me. I was burnt out. In May I graduated college and within a few days I moved a little over 8 hours away from home to start my new life, and boy has it been a wild ride since then. Many highs, many many lows. Alas, I brought my problems with me and went from burn out in school to burn out in full time job. Its just been over the last couple weeks I have been realizing how much I need to slow down and enjoy life. I always thought "once i move everything will be okay". Of course that hasnt been the case. New problems have arisen, one after another. Life always reminds me how much I need to slow down, usually I realize on my own too late. I currently am going back and watching your videos because since the move back in May I have felt I barely have had time for true relaxation. Now i have covid-19 (again), and am in bed embroidering and catching up on your videos. Your videos have always brought my heart so much warmth and I am so grateful for them, even if at times they were hard for me to watch. Things feel different this time though. I feel a light, knowing I can truly start living the life I want in my current situation. I have been cultivating it for months now and need to stop and smell the roses. Your videos are yet again reminding me to do so. Thank you.

It is so peaceful watching your videos. I kind of get lost in such a trance daze. The cute rabbit hopping by reminded me that a rabbit has been living under my bbq all winter. I hadn’t noticed it due to the covering. But a recent windy day blew the cover off and all was revealed. Spring is here and pretty soon I will spark up the barbie and if my fury friend is still around he will be the first meal of the summer!

Lily is gorgeous…I remember the first time I saw a tortoise shell cat - a “tortie” - I was utterly astonished at the beauty of it. Funny how animals are completely unaware of their visual magnificence.

I am a mom of a teenager and a young adult. I am also the right hand for a business with my husband, and I feel guilty taking time to go out for a walk at a park while hubby is still at work. Also, even though I am caught up with everything I need to do, I still feel a tinge of guilt and I won't venture out because my hubby is still at work and does not have the same freedom. So your videos fill the need to got out and they are so refreshing to my spirit. Also, my left side of my hip has a lingering injury so sometimes walking on an uneven path can flare it so your videos have come in handy! A very big thank you to you and the videographer!!! Regarding despair... I have an addendum to your wise observation that despair is a choice. From what I understand, despair can also be not a choice. In an experience I had recently, I saw that I did not choose it but when it came to me I chose to take care of myself so that I could experience love and joy. Despair will come to me again and when it does I will see it as a message to embrace the change it's telling me to make in my life to return to love. 🧜♀️💞

Hi Paola, that was a cute Lily the cat! It was so lovely seeing Aiger, Mr. Darcy, and also Lily running happily welcoming the spring. It was rainy midnight in Jakarta as I was watching your video with my tea and my cat on my lap purring. I love gardening and planting. Since I've seen your videos, I give more respect to wild tiny flowers now. Yesterday I picked up some wild flowers on the street in front my house to decorate my dining table. There are some different kinds of them growing wildly on the street, I'm planning to move them on planting pots to decorate my porch, hopefully they could grow well in pots. Planting or gardaning is quite tiring and take a lot of our energy yet it is so healthy for our mind, body, and soul. I'm starting to grow chilly nextweek hopefully. Thank you for this. You helped to calm me when I was going through a tough time this winter, while my husband was very sick in hospital for several months. I now have to wait for him to be around to play these videos as he also finds you very calming. We are both outdoor loving folk, running a dairy farm in England. Our live revolves around the seasons and we constantly work with nature. Your comment about despair reminds me of something I learned while reading about meditation - that our feelings don’t require a response or reaction, that we can choose to respond or not. During meditation we observe thoughts that arise, but we let them go and return to our breath. I want to be able to do the same thing with feelings - observe when they arise, but then be able to let them go if they are not serving me. Thanks for the thoughtful and beautiful video!

I think these days & times are stressful for so many. People displaced by new careers, searching for peace (inside & out), beginning new lives or leaving old ones behind, people fearful for their next meal, others listening to doomsayers & worrying the sky is falling, disease, shortages & natural disasters. Congratulations on purchasing your home. You are wise beyond your years. I have also found peace in the forest. I live in Northern California among the giant redwoods. I have only been here a year and wish I had moved here many years before. It has improved my mental, spiritual and physical health. I take walks with my little dog 3 times daily and enjoy the carpets of daisies growing wild, along with the violets and wild chamomile. I am enjoying your videos and your journey.
