- I've tried bullet journaling, pre-made planners, and 176 different digital planning tools, but only one method has really worked for me đž Give TeuxDeux a try for free for 30 days â *teuxdeux.com/?via=theblissbean
This is probably the most controversial video I've made, hahaha, but hopefully the message is clear that the best planning method is the one that works for YOU! And if you're feeling a little uncertain about how to create your own system, I thought it might be helpful if I shared my ~planning journey~ and why I chose digital over paper!
Let me know in the comments what your planning system is! When I discovered TeuxDeux, really not many people were talking about it online so we have to share these discoveries with each other đ

Team paper or digital planning? Wholesome planning discussions only no arguing please đ If you wanna try the digital planning tool that I use for free for 30 days click here! teuxdeux.com/?via=theblissbean
I totally agree with you, last time I plan my week on paper, it looked so messy. I prefer Google calendar đ
I am a person that benefits from both types of planning and are constantly fluctuating. When I have dealines and I have a lot to get done, I prefer digital planning, I do enjoy a lot to batch my tasks and have a clear time do get them done (and I actually tend to underestimate my own work flow). Now, when planning ahead, I do prefer to have a paper planner! It's much easier for me to journal about tasks and have them on my own hand, written by myself. I put a lot more thought into what I am doing.
Not gonna lie, at first paper planning was a big struggle, but as time goes on, I have gotten more used to it, and I do enjoy it a lot more!
Team paper! I love the aesthetic and vibe of paper planning but donât have a huge amount to do currently so itâs more the look than practicality
I prefer paper, I don't like anything digital đ I know it would be better for the environment, but I just can't đ also I love making my calendar artsy :)
to be honest its both. I do get lazy and dont update my bullet journal but i love drawing and stuff.
The reason I struggle with digital planning is how it feels like yet more screen time, whereas my paper planner feels more mindful and intentional and for me personally I always find stuff easier to remember if Iâve written it out by hand. I used to struggle with drawing it out each week too as it felt like so much work, so I bought a planner with the dates pre-printed which allows me to plan ahead more, and I can just throw some stickers and washi tape at it if I want it to look better, but I donât stress too much about keeping it neat so long as it makes sense to me.
Ah yes I feel you about the screen time!
Likewise! I prefer paper planning than digital one, too. One of my goals is to reduce my screentime so I set aside my goal to use Notion. I'll probably use a digital one when my online classes start but for now, I'll stick to my planner. :))
Yeah đdigital planning does increase your screen time and I totally agree, planning on paper is easier and more mindful
asootsprite sameee!!!
I feel exactly the same way towards digital = screen time haha
Why I donât like bullet journalling: Iâm afraid to make mistakes and it stresses me out
thats what happened with me. but as i looked for more inspiration, i made goals to try to journal everyday. i also switched to regular journaling because i dont have much going on. Some ideas to write is you favorite shows and characters, your feelings, books you just read and goals you want to accomplish. just do whatever you want with your journal because its yours to see!
When I started, I gave myself permission to have the ugliest bullet journal in the whole world.
yes that sounds like me
maybe you could try binders, its way more flexible and be able to find the system that works for you when starting. If mistakes stress you out, you can just switch out the pages.
@@katendress6142 a part of me in a sentence
Its ironic because the guy who created bullet journal has a more simplistic and minimalistic approach, he really didn't intend all the artistic stuff the internet has done to it.
Omg! Yes!!!
He doesn't really use it as a planner either, more as a reflective log of what has happened, and whether that is moving him to his goals. It's not called a bullet planner.
Lol yeah but art is art. It's the same as doodling in class as you're the thinking of the topics youre being taught, or your next paper or essay. It's the nature of art to be a free expression, and art therapy reduces the comorbud anxiety and depression which can result from Neurodivergences. â€â€
I gave it a try and didnât like it. I love watching others do it because itâs soothing seeing them get artistic with it but I donât like doing it myself. Lol.
same
Same. I didn't like it because I felt like I was required to make it visually/aesthetically pleasing. More fun to watch people customise theirs. đđ
I love watching AmandaRachLee's videos and pinning bullet journals on Pinterest but it's not for me đ
This is so me too. We should form a club! đł
This! I literally kept using it off and on for 3 years! I finally gave in and am just going back to a preprinted planner. I personally don't need a lot of "fancy" extras, just some pages to organize my life. And most planners have that so yeah
I use a mixture of digital and paper planning. I use my phone's calendar to plan things in advance and keep track of future events, and my bullet journal is where I make my to do lists and habit trackers. I keep my bullet journal relatively simple, but I still make it artsy because it gives me an excuse to doodle while feeling productive. I also prefer physically checking of tasks for the day.
Same
me toooo âĄâĄ
Yeah, I do too!
I really like the way u do this
I have tried bullet journaling so much and find it so time consuming. I have found a system where I can just write my to-dos at the top, my gratitudes/affirmations, and then my thoughts at the end.
Same!
Sounds lovely and simple!
This is what I've been doing myself.
Bullet journalling is not what you see online, it really is more basic, and when doing the basics only, it's pretty fast. Off course, if you want do to more, or different, that can be done, but just not required.
That's more involved than the main part of the original bullet journaling system, which is "write today's date then write today's tasks, events, and any notes you need to make, with three different shaped bullet points".
The other stuff, like weekly spreads and quote pages and habit tracking etc. are things people have added since Ryder Carroll shared his system, which just used a black pen, no decoration
I've been using paper planner since childhood (mostly for scheduling my school's works). Just recently tried the most minimalist original bullet journal system. I really enjoy it. The main problem with youtube Bujo videos is IT IS WAY TOO ARTISTIC !! where on the other hand I cannot draw (art sense = zero) and I hate it when there are too many colours. I really enjoy the minimalist black-pen only system. Digital planning doesn't really work on me... the planning doesn't feel real, but I still use google calendar for team meeting and team's schedule overview, as now I am working
I stared bullet journaling in January of this year and I also found this out about two months ago. I was trying to have those cute spreads and it was making me more stressed because it never turned out how I wanted it. I love the one pen system!!!!
All of the cons you said just made me love my bujo again. đ„ș I donât know but I love the mess and scribbles. I love the full to-do lists and arrows across the pages. Even though this wasnât the point of your video I felt like it opened up my eyes to what I truly love about a bullet journal.
It sounds like you're the EXACT opposite of me! XD I've tried digital planning several times (because I couldn't afford a planner, because I was constantly moving between cities & states, because my backpack was already stuffed & the idea of adding another book was crushing, and a bunch of other reasons). But for me, digital is just too easy to forget about. My journal is right there is front of me, always within arm's reach. It forces me to actually use it and get my chaotic thoughts down & out of my head. Actually writing things down and having to migrate things (by hand) makes me think about how much I really want (or need) to do that task. It forces me to think critically about what I need to get done and compare that to what I can realistically achieve in one day.
Same!!
Same. I also like building up my habit of always updating myself and following up.
This is so me! I've tried different digital planners and after a few days of using them I just seem to forget that they even existed in my phone ( I don't like digital planning in my laptop because it feels like a chore to me because from where I'm from, we don't usually use gadgets for note taking in college) AND I always scared of losing/breaking my phone and all the planning I did will be lost forever
I think I use bullet journaling more as a creative outlet and monthly/daily outline. Now that I've been doing it for a few months, I can go back and see events I've gone to, my current headspace, health stuff I was tracking, and what I was into that month. I guess I don't use it as a planner, for me, it's literally a journal. lol
I personally just love the feeling of a physical organisation system. With my bullet journal it just feels like a physical thing I can use to ground myself at the beginning and the end of the day if that makes sense? Now that I have a routine of sitting down with my planner every morning and night. I also love that I can use it as a creative outlet. Of course you can also draw digitally, but I prefer to use a pen and paper to draw
totally agree!
I'm shifting this semester to paper planning.
I really enjoyed the unlimited possibilites of digital planning. It's also portable. I just have it on my phone.
But I felt like I was so conplacent with digital planning like sometimes I would brush off notifications and end up not doing stuff.
So with paper planning I want to build a habit of constantly checking up on my what I have to do. Also because of limited space on paper, I get to think more if I do need to migrate stuff and get to budget my time more.
It's also kind of distracting to have my to-dos and plans in the same device where I have social media and games in lol.
But I'm kinda weird so I do plan to simultaneously plan on paper and digital. I'll try to get the best parts of each method then use them simultaneously.
Good luck. I tried that and went back to digital. I do, however, keep a morning journal, paper, keeps me grounded. But I like being able to clip or snip screenshots and paste them into Keep or Evernote for reference, sharing, etc., can't live without it.
oooh love this! Iâve tried bullet journaling twice and find I always lose track of it and it hasnât been effective for me (despite how much I love the creativity) so itâs nice to hear this perspective đ
when you realize that its time to get your life together...
I'm torn between paper and digital, because I absolutely love stationery, but at the same time its hard to stay ontop of things when you have to flip through a million pages lol...
You can have a both together. I have a journal and the same events or to do lists are on my phone as well. So that way i have paper reminders and digital ones.
yeah you can use both. I use digital stuff as a planner and my bullet journals just for tracking habits, sleeping behavior and things like that. My day is so busy with work that a buju as a planner and tracker would be too time consuming for it.
I donât prefer making super creative and pretty and aesthetic. Iâm huge on mindfulness, and found myself taken away from my thoughts if I was trying to draw in my planner. I also agree 100% about the visual clutter !! Digital journals give me the pretty and the organizing which i love :) Great video !
Really enjoyed this video - itâs good to have different perspectives presented that are well thought through! I also enjoy your content style - itâs appreciated â€ïžđđŒ
JustEz Agree!!
Thank you so much! đ€ I think it can be helpful to hear the reasons even to people who ultimately decide on paper planning! Because maybe the precise reasons why it doesn't work for me would make it work for them!
hi! i'm just like you, i'm a perfectionist so organization is very important to me. i used to keep a bullet journal, but as you said, it got messy. i use the apple calendar app and it's super efficient and clean! for tasks that are more 'to do' like, i use the reminders app.i love your videos, saludos desde Españađ
I'm glad you were able to find a planning system that works for you! :) I agree that bullet journalling can be time consuming, but paper planning is what I love more. I had to reevaluate how I was using my journal at one point by thinking about which spreads are actually useful for me, and which ones are something I'd seen on instagram or pinterest and felt I "needed" to do. Once I concluded which parts of my journal are enjoyable, helpful, and reduce my anxiety (like monthly and weekly pages) and which ones are too time consuming or stressful to keep up with (like habit trackers and future logs), I enjoyed it much more. And I try to write anecdotes, song lyrics, nice memories, or other thoughts so that it doesn't just become a stressful to do list I constantly punish myself for not being able to complete, but also full of things that make me happy, or things I am upset about and need to get off my chest.
Iâve been bullet journaling for two years, but recently Iâve been doing it much less. I came across your channel about a month ago and discovered an entire new system of planning! Itâs been pretty difficult to adjust to digital planning(as I have to figure out which apps I like best), but Iâm slowly liking it more and more. I really enjoy the creative side to bullet journaling, but I think Iâm realizing itâs not fitting my productivity needs. Thanks for the awesome videos and I love your newsletter :D
I just subscribed to you not too long ago, and I just wanted to say how I love your videos! Your channel is so organized and aesthetically pleasing. You're video on how you edited videos was SO helpful! I've used some of your tips to help me edit my videos :)
THE B-ROLL IN YOUR VIDEOS ALWAYS GOES SO HARD UGH I LOVE IT SO MUCH (so sorry iâm not yelling just very enthusiastic) đđđđ
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU thank you đ
Iâm very artsy but I can never find the time to sit down and decorate my journal and track my habits and stuff like that. I would just forget and then feel guilty about not filling it in
Ever since your Productivity Tools video, I immediately switched from paper planning to digital planning. It was a LIFE CHANGER. A part of me wanted to appreciate the art of pen and paper longer, but I realized it was time to move on. TeuxDeux is honestly one of the most efficient and simplistic app. Thank you for introducing it to us.
I really love to do hand writing and I was a big stationary maniac in the past. But I switched to digital. Cuz of my obsession with trying to do all my pages and writings PERFECT and BEAUTIFUL. Instead of getting more productive (which was the reason I started planning in a first place), I just spent a huge amount of time on making layouts and practicing my handwriting.
Bullet journals are unfortunately too much for me đ I love organizing but I find myself getting stressed trying to make my bullet journal pretty and I wouldnât focus on the goal!
Love this! I feel like all your videos are so relatable! Honestly havenât found a system that works for me 100% yet đ we moveeee
đđ the intro killed me! Itâs definitely okay that youâve made and shared this video, since it will help guide others in the ways of planning and organizing their life :) I personally use both digital tools AND my bullet journal to help me be my most productive during my work week! But my bullet journal layouts are quite streamlined and I only set it up week-by-week or day-by-day, and it sometimes doesnât even get used some days, so I use it just as I need it đ
For anyone wondering how to fix the issue Beatrice mentioned about numbering/prioritizing tasks in your bullet journal, you could try this system I use (in my dotted A5 journal): under my âto-dosâ heading, I designate three columns (the spaces between 4/6 dots, depending on how big your handwriting is) as âlowâ âmedâ and âhighâ priority, and then use a brush pen or other tool and color/shade in the âhighâ priority column. That way, as I draft up my to-dos, I can place their check-off circle inside one of those designated priority levels and easily see which ones need to get done that day (or I can first write them all down next to the columns and then go back and add their circles as I determine how to prioritize them)! Iâve found it helps keep my list less cluttered :) and then I love using those small arrow post-its to place next to whichever task Iâm working on currently! I hope that helps anyone in the comments browsing for some bullet journal tips :)
Thanks Beatrice for another great video!! đ
Hahaha, glad you enjoyed that intro! Thank you for sharing that prioritization idea! That's super creative đ€
I'm a big fan of how you listed your various topics and time stamps of your video's content. Props!
I like to plan on paper but keep things really simple. I only track my habits (one of two of them) because when i used to plan all my week really stress me out hahaha and just make a small calendar for important stuff.
I really appreciet your honestly in this topic and your channel really inspire me
Have a great day!âïžđ»
ooh girl I can get behind this sentiment for sure. I love my physical journal for memory keeping and written/visual reflection but in terms of planning I go all digital!
I canât use a bullet journal because I canât keep up with the weekly spreads and trackers. Now I just have an art journal/personal diary. Itâs pretty and personal like a bullet journal, but I donât feel the pressure to keep up.
Thank you for this video! I never understood how digital planning would work for me and this helped me get there. It also just reaffirmed why I prefer paper planning and that's okay because we have different lives! :)
I definitely learned something about how I can make my planning completely digital. I was putting my ToDos directly into Google Calendar, but using general blocks actually looks more pleasing to the eye!
Yes, I really like having specific to dos on my list and then general blocks on my calendar, because instead of estimating the amount of time for every little thing, it's more flexible đ€
Good morning Bea!!!
I'm happy to watch your video as first thing of the day â€ïž
sounds fantastic. am total opposite! i have struggled all my life with being organised and digitalisation of everything has made my life more complicated.... then i discovered...bullet journal. I started, found my own way with it, and it has been life changing for me. like TRULY. I am more creative than ever, (altough not very drawing etc..) also much more productive, more efficient, and more peaceful. My head is clear like never before. I have waves of happiness every time i go in it...I am so so grateful I found that tool. but good you kept looking! i guess we all need to find what works for us. lots of hugs and thanks for your smile! i have even included a kanban board in it, so i am following multiple projects on one page!
I really enjoyed listening to this, while I was in college I tried so hard to find a digital planner that would work for me but I never could find it engaging, I tried for years the little planners from walmart, but for me a bujo has worked the best so far and I think it is because the act of doing my layouts is relaxing and I enjoy the space. It also helps me with my phone breaks so I'm not checking it when I'm trying to figure out how to spend that hour or 2
I had a bullet journal for about a year, and I really loved it. I had also been doing paper planning all my life, but not always having my journal on me and not having all my events in sync became a big problem for me. Iâm still trying to find what style of digital planning suits me, but I find it much more clean, simple and easy
I definitely found my happy place in a travellers notebook that combines a simple calendar view with an insert for rabid logging for daily tasks. I actually keep a separate bujo that stays at home with monthly and weekly task planning and tracking that I refer to each morning and evening and this has worked well for two years already. I used to do all my planning digitally for years before this and never really felt like I had a good handle on things and time management and remembering to do stuff was a pain. But it's really great there are so many great options for different people who's brain all work a bit differently! This was a really great opportunity to hear the opposite experience đđ
i love this and I totally agree!! Bullet journaling got so stressful for me with my anxiety and my wish to have everything be perfect, so in the end it did the opposite of relieving me and making me more productive. I'd love a similar video about paper vs digital journaling, since I recently started doing that every day (thanks to you yay) and my notebooks are running out at an alarming rate. Thanks for all you do!!
I mixed a bullet journal where i note down most important things, habits, reminders, goals, affirmations and memories with a regular journal and i write down my reflections every day instead of just events! I like a traditional one because it gives me some quiet time away from electronics
I love that! I really like paper journaling as well, no distractions đ€
I am big fan of bullet journaling, but i get the "argument" of future planning. Maby some day IÂŽll switch to some form of digital planning in term of events, but for now I really donÂŽt have that much events.
Honestly, I keep different kinds of things in different places. I use a Hobonichi which is a dated planner (couldnât handle undated), and I like having the flexibility to be a little creative while still having some structure. I definitely forget about it sometimes but itâs so satisfying to have a physical object. I do use a list making app for some things though (like if I need a pop up reminder)
I totally understand and agree with you. After some thoughts, I am giving the bujo another trial, wish me luck.
I'm not a student anymore, so I use my outlook calendar for all of my meetings and appointments, and I use a paper planner for my to-do lists and for note taking. I like a dated weekly planner with blank spaces for each day so I can fill in whatever I need.
you pointed out so many things that bother me about planning, I didn't think digital planning could solve them, thank you; I'll consider next year try digital planning instead of my bujo, maybe I'll like it :D
Hello, I always knew that bullet journaling or agendas weren't for me, so I always made lists but now my life is much more complicated so I tried Notion and is AMAZING! You should give it a try.
I JUST made a video about being a beginner at bullet journaling and I definitely agree with all of your points! I can't promise myself that I'll stick with it, but I'm gonna try a mix of paper and digital!
Hope you find something that works for you! đ€
đshe is doing great enough and should have over million subscribers đ
That's a very good system and I've never heard of this app. I share your frustrations with some to do list apps and this seems very cool. Thanks for sharing!
My dad has been trying to get me to go digital because of the convenience for years and I finally did and I am obsessed! I don't have a paper planner any more and now I'm no longer missing appointments and stuff lol.
Love that it worked for you!! đ€
Honestly I never have a super busy schedule so a simple small calendar planner is all I need. Because more often than not I only have 1 important thing I need to do that day. But I love looking at bullet journals/planners that have loads and loads of stuff in them to do. Super cool đđ»đ
You've convinced me to move my tasks to a digital calendar. I'm gonna continue using my bullet journal for collections and habit tracking, but digital planning seems far more efficient.
At the moment I am mostly a 'paper person' but I have two notebooks. A 'rough' book to write everything without trying to make it look aesthetic and then a more 'fancy' book to tidy it all up so it's minimal, clear and organized so I can see what I need/want to do clearly. I'm open to digital planning conversion though haha
A good idea :)
@@inspiredby-sx7wy thank you! :)
I felt this! Honestly, when I made the switch from a bullet journal to the Hobonichi Techo Planner, I felt sooo much better. I've always struggled with the lack of creative freedom in normal planners and the amount of time required for bullet journals. The Techo (and other free-space, grid planners like it) is honestly the dream because all the set up is done, and I can do whatever I want with the pages!
If you can afford it (or save up for it like I did), I've honestly found that it meets all my needs for social media, school and work. :)
That sounds really cool, I'll have to check it out!!
As someone who has been writing in a journal and paper planner my whole life, I was hesitant to start digital planning. But honestly, as hard as it is for me to admit, I completely agree with you! I love the feel and look of my paper journal/planner, but my schedule changes constantly and that would just get messy and stressful to look at after a bit. I love that I can completely erase, or even like clip something and move it to a different spot and/or change the size of it, and things like that. It's so flexible, but stays neat. And I love being able to use digital stickers, to still give it some fun and silliness.
Right, I totally agree! The switch was difficult because I was soo proud of my handmade planner but it was worth it! What tool do you use for your digital planner? Stickers sound so fun!
The Bliss Bean I use Goodnotes5 on the iPad with an Apple Pencil. There are a bunch of digital stickers you can get off of Etsy, and then copy and paste them all over your digital planner!
I admire the people who can bullet journal so beautifully, for I'd probably never try it because when I spend my time trying to make something look aesthetic and it turns out to be horribly unsymmetrical, it just makes me want to tear the page off.
Itâs fine you donât like bullet journaling! I am one of those who love it! And have started and I believe in opinions!
Iâm so with you on this I was wondering if I was the only one who didnât like bullet journaling! đ
Well, I just bought and iPad and got good notes and made a bullet journal on there for August. That way I can have both written out and digital. Iâll see how that goes for college!
oh my gosh! i thought it was only me who thinks the same thing lol loved the vid
i know......i used to love bullet journaling but i don't have time also every time i do it turned out bad so don't feel bad i'm the same as you
I tried bullet journaling for half a year and then switched to a normal planner ^^ A lot of people were always talking about the flexibility of a bujo, that you can fit your spreads to your week etc. but after like two months I knew what weekly and monthly layout I prefer. So I got a minimalistic planner with just these layouts, which I can decorate if I want, but don't have to
I used to love bullet journaling, mostly because of the art , and the watercolors haha but i donât know lately i realize i donât really used it for planning anymore and i think iâm going to try a digital planning system, and use my journal only to artistic things or drawings đ
I recently discovered your channel and am currently binge watching EVERY. VIDEO. Would you do one on all notebooks you use at one time and what they are each for ?? I am trying to figure out a system!!
New sub! I looked at all of your videos and now im going to have a marathon!
Bullet journaling doesn't work for me because the reason i journal is to just let go of my need for everything to be perfect. Bullet journaling makes me want everything to be super pretty and I'm afraid to mess up.
I've been doing paper planning for almost two decades. My elementary school started me off and I've been doing it ever since.
I broke away into digital planning for a couple of months (during that overall time) but didn't like that I was looking at my phone or laptop more for the actual planning process.
Just found this channel, came looking for info on bullet journaling but I think I fell in love instead!!đš Great vid btw
Thank you for being honest!! đđ Itâs just too much work for me personally đ ALSO, my latest video was inspired by your mid-life audit đ„° I aspire to be as good of a CZcamsr as you! âš
Ahh so glad I could be of some inspiration!
I've tried digital but always went back to paper, however I have had to revise my way of writing multiple times until I found the one that works for me because it gets cluttered... I found a solution to mine is making two spreads for each week- one being a to-do list with a separate part of the days block for assignments that were due, and the other spread being just a 7a-midnight day planner that I would outline in pen but put in events in pencil- so it can shift around and just be erased. It's beneficial for me because I can look back to see when I did stuff and if I worked all the shifts instead of being called off etc for paychecks, bu for larger projects I did have to just dedicate a whole spread or just get a piece of computer paper to plan it out and just use the to-do list as 'work on project' that I largely planned out somewhere else. I do love trying new things though and for people it just doesn't match with their lifestyle, love the video!
I totally understand why you made the switch!
I use google calendar for my schedule and a bulletjournal for everything else (keeping a record of what happens, how I feel, my To Dos and projects) âșïž. I use only one pen in my bujo and don't do any of those pre-drawn spreads and artistic stuff, just the bare bones way Ryder Carroll initially shared as the bullet journal system. I find it super useful and easy and stress-free and helpful to get away from the screen more/reflect more.
I feel like a lot of the spreads I see on social media are very far away from the original bujo idea and while I am sure they are wonderful and work for their creators, I've never felt the need to veer so far from the super minimal and intentional approach that first started the bujo idea âșïž
You should try the NOTION app !! Itâs every app you mentioned in this video, all in one! And itâs also free
People often underestimate how much time bullet journaling requires. I love my bullet journal, but every Sunday I dedicate anywhere from one to two hours to prep for the upcoming week. It's something I make time for because I love art and I love the creativity it offers, but it's really not for everyone.
I have used the Daytimer and Steven Covey for decades. And for a few years the Morning Pages by Julia Cameron which is similar to the Dump.
for me bullet journaling I do beca7se I enjoy doing it and tracking my life I actually so it mainly because it's a space to be creative and I do it more for the art aspect then the planing aspect
For future events I like digital, but for looking back I love paper journals, but that is mostly personal stuff; I just like the process of writing by hand. So I do both.
You have the same painting as me!! The one with the Grandmother, Mother, and Child
cool app, thanks for sharing. I use google calender, google keep for general todo and notes and paper planning for daily todos, but I will try teuxdeux. just the weekly planning looks great
Great video. I'm digital for work, paper for personal. I can't integrate my work calendar with a personal digital calendar, and I hated having to toggle between two different apps/calendars on my phone. I can pull out my planner and compare to my digital work calendar. I have tried the bullet method - it was too much work for me. I prefer a pre-printed planner.
What app did you use for your CZcams calendar?
Trello, I'll talk all about it in next week's "how i plan" video đ€đ
My best friend recently switched to digital planning and loves it so far. It's a lot less time consuming. I have to agree. I use Google calendar for my schedule, appointments, and reminders. My paper "planning" lately has been more journaling than planning. I combine bullet journaling with full-sentence journaling. I tend to keep my planning and journaling intertwined on some level and as freeform as possible. I think it's important to change your system as your needs change. You always have to do what works best for you. My motto is "Work WITH your brain, not against it."
I agree with you 100%. I use TeuxDeux and google calendar too and I feel like it's quicker, easier, and cleaner. When I need some mindfulness / away-from-the-screen-time I journal in a paper journal--just whatever is on my mind, no planning.
I tried digital planning but cannot get into it. I love my store bought planner but sometimes I have complicated days / things to plan and it gets stressful. Does anyone else have any suggestions for other types of paper planning?
I'm so ready to try TeuxDeux!
I make my own spreads for my social media planner so I don't have to write out anything but what I plan to post and my monthly stats. Last year I started using color coded stickers for my posts in case I need to rearrange things. I also print out my own stickers.
Yayyyyy waiting for new video xD so happyyy!
I definitely appreciate paper planning for the creativity one can put into it but I have found that if I am in a busier time of life digital is easier for me to keep track of.
I am also transitionning from paper to digital. It's quite hard for the moment.
Do you know Notion ? What do you thing about it ? I think it is hard to set up but it could be a good alternative to Bullet Journaling
Yeah I tried it but it was super complicated đ I like my simple notes app hahaha
I'm struggling with paper planning too. Can you tell me why you use Trello for some aspects and Teux Deux for others? Why not just one program/ app?
New subscriber! I want to journal more.
I agree that paper planners can be a hassle. I heard of TeuxDeux from Matt D'Avella (he also uses it too!), but never seriously considered it for my workflow. I think I'll take another chance at it. Interesting to hear your thoughts and great video!
Yeah I prefer digital also. I'm pretty simplistic when it comes to planning and it's convenient to have my planner with me on any laptop or mobile device rather than worrying about a specific physical planner. Personally I like use any.do because it syncs with google calendar and has a really good task manager that allows you to set reminders, and daily tasks, among some other things.
I feel like my bullet journaling is never cute enough! I love my paper planner, but I'm looking for a digital solution so it'll always be with me (and I'll have more space. to plan. aead.
yes i feel the same way! Will you ever try or review Notion? Love your videos!!
I actually did try it but it was a bit too complicated for me đ Thank you for watching!
That's a valid point! Maybe I'll try digital planning instead because I've tried bullet journalling and have fallen into the same problems as you. I think a big reason why people use paper planners is because it's therapeutic to them and I just have other, more effective ways to relax than planning
I agree! Journaling on paper is quite important to me, so then paper planning is less so
I didn't like bullet journaling either. I tried it for 6 months and inevitably fell off the wagon because it felt like too much work for such little pay-off. I love journaling and being somewhat creative most of the time but it just felt like a chore. I felt guilty more often than not for writing in it because I was wasting precious time that I could be using to spend on my actual school work! haha. As someone who works part-time and is in school full-time, it just didn't make sense for me. I love online planning now though, like you! even if ts just adding things to my apple calendar or reminders app (to-do list). loved your video girl!
I saw the title and almost got a lil offended but after watching the video itâs all good and I think your reasons make a lot of sense. People should just use what planning method works best for them to be organized. Also, hearing your reasons showed me why bullet journaling works for me and how I use a planner
Hehehe I really tried to make it clear that I don't wanna bash any planning method but simply explains my reasons behind choosing mine đ I love that my reasons clarified your reasons for choosing bullet journaling!
The Bliss Bean oh yeah you definitely did! đ and yeah me too! đ
If you apply the basic bullet journalling concepts, you have an endless pallet (i.e. threading). I believe when users create all these fancy spreads, they put boundaries and limits on where their thoughts go in their journal. When I was working, my planning and to do management was totally digital and my personal to do was paper except for keeping my calendar. Now that I'm retired I still keep appointments on an electronic calendar and manage to do in my BuJo. I've married the two concepts so that I have plenty of flexibility.
I'm definelty team paper, but I do mix up my to do lists from digital and paper. I also have a calendar app on my phone where I write days I work and events. But my bullet journal is a creative outlet for me and I actually am posting a video tomorrow about why I think people should journal lol đ
