It's important to know that this type of torque wrench is only accurate when force is applied from a single location at the handle. The first demonstration with hand or hands moving up the wrench past the handle will result in getting a higher torque at the nut when the wrench clicks. This happens because the proportion of force seen by the trip mechanism in the handle, which has its own pivot, is different to the proportion actually delivered through the longer lever length to the nut. This has been adjusted for in the factory during calibration, but the adjustment is only correct for the two different lever lengths seen from the calibration point (ring) marked in the centre of the handle. This is called length dependency, and it's important for anyone who wants accurate results from their torque wrench to know whether the one they're using is a length dependent design or not.

Thank you Todd for an excellent demonstration. I agree that for the price this is a well-built tool with a nice case too. Now I can know how to set it and to listen for that click.

In order to get the closest to the torque setting you need to calibrate it by cycling the torque clicks couple 10ths of times before actual use

Yeah my torque wrench was just faulty. I set mine at 35lbs, made sure the bottom nut was in “lock” setting. And I tightened very slowly, never heard or felt a click at all…. Tightened a little more and now the torque wrench just spins…

You didn't check it against another torque wrench or anything to see if the calibration was right .. it could have been totally off on poundage

I got in touch with EPAuto about the misleading instructions where it says 'Turn "COUNTERWISE" to increse. I knew it was a typo, yet the diagram shows the arrow pointing right. They sent me a youtube link and funny enough, they make the same mistake. czcams.com/video/dfyfgI1jevE/video.html
