    Quick tip when you are doing this.. if you turn the engine on you can push the brake pedal all the way to the floor that will give you alot more room to get to the nut on the back side of the switch. You just need a stick or something to hold the brake pedal down

    I like how you said “righty tidy” when putting it back together. Everybody does it!

    Thanks for sharing via CZcams. I love learning about my vehicle parts so I can have understanding as to where they are and what goes wrong with it. Smiles

    Thanks for the video. My cruise control set is not working and videos have shown that it could be break switch so I will try this adjustment cause it doesn’t look like the plunger is in all the way when brake isn’t pressed.

    6/05/21 I strongly assume my '09 Hyundai Genesis's Brake light switch has stopped working due to all my rear brake lights not turning on when i brake. There was a recall on many Hyundais for faulty brake switches, my vehicle was one of them. I bought a new brake light switch, i just need to install it
    P.s yes i checked my fuses and bulbs.

    The plunger on my switch seems like it's actually lining up with the hole from the stopper retainer.

      That kinda sounds like something might be bent out of place.
      I never was able to find a replacement for that plastic piece, but I found out after I fixed mine that it's actually a manufacturer recall. So if you go to a dealership, they'll fix it for free.

    Mine did the same. Didn't see this in time. I super glued a stack of 3 pennies to my pedal and taped them in place. I guess I'll do this if it ever falls off haha

    Thanks for the video! My 2007 Kia van is also doing this with the lights… I read that it also could be the rubber brake pedal stopper. Do you know where that is located under there? I will try that and then maybe the switch👍 Thank you

      This is actually a factory recall. You might hit up your local dealer and see if the recall applies to your VIN number. If so, they'll do the work and replace any necessary parts for free. I just did mine before I got the recall notice in the mail.

      Glad I could help. A fresh battery is always nice. I have to say a little prayer every time I start my truck because the battery is from 2015.

    How did you remove the plastic bottom panel. I'm having a hard time removing mine

    • @TheRealChaseRhodes
      @TheRealChaseRhodes  Před rokem

      It should just be the 2 screws and then prying it out to release it from the clips. That, and disconnecting any plugs for buttons/switches.
      It's not actually necessary to remove any panels to do this though. It only opens up a small space that you can look through. The main reason I took them off was so I could see what I was doing without my head being in the way of the camera. There's actually WAY more visibility from below.
