No, the issue is that men need instructions in the first place. Women learn on our own, and we take initiative on our own to see what needs to get done. It's EXHAUSTING to constantly have to instruct men on what to do like their Mummy (even if they are eager and obedient) - that's what the "man child" label is about. You didn't grow up doing chores - fine. We live in 2024. Google it, look it up, look around you, whatever...

@JuanAppleseed-ge6tb Taking into account the fact I don't know you, either this reply is relevant to you or not.
Some men are socialized not doing much housework at all, and genuinely do not notice issues that are utterly basic to nearly all women. If this might be you, next time you are sitting at home, take a detailed look at things around you. Spend a good minute or two doing a bit of a scan.
Is there dust on something? Clothing not in a hamper/wardrobe/closet? Dirty dishes anywhere? A large pile in the laundry room? Crumbs or dirt on the floor? Random objects cluttering an area rather than being stored in their spots?
Taking a moment to fix a thing or two like that without being asked is a good way to win a spouses trust. Also there are books and videos on how to clean and tidy bc if you struggle with that, you aren't the only one.

I feel lazy about chores, too. The solution is to trick yourself into getting annoyed by things being messy so you just kind of do at least the bare minimum and help out around the house. You gotta try to be an equal partner in this shit.

We have checklists for our kids. He would follow the checklist just about as well as they do. Meaning he’ll need promptings every few minutes and reminders that he’ll lose privileges if they don’t get done. Maybe some body doubling that turns into the spouse doing it for him. Honestly though if those clothes got put in a singular place that keeps the space functional then I would call that a win. The ketchup did get cleaned up in the end. Sometimes it’s more exhausting to have to make a decision and direct your man child than actually executing the task.

  • @cilanatroisbetterthanparsley

You are AMAZING for putting the word "help" in quotation marks. You understand that "helping" is not the thing here, because that implies it's her job. It's his job to do his part!
