I do not own the audio source/s used to create this video. If any of the owners want their content taken down please contact me via the email in the About section of my channel.
All works of commentary, reviewing, video editing and (many times) the mixing of different content sources do come from this channel's creativity. Thus, I believe there is a "transformation of value" from any particular raw audio source. This value transformation and, given the non-fictional / educational nature of the audio source contents, makes it a stronger case for "fair use" right. Also, I believe this video is supportive to the owners of the audio source contents, as it helps to spread their invaluable message in a positive way. But in any case, as mentioned in the previous paragraph, if any owner do not want their content to be featured in this video, please contact me :)
Taleb is a true genius. A real deep thinker.
The Big No-No's.
1. Muscle without strength
2. Friendship without trust
3. Opinion without risk
4. Change without aesthetics
5. Age without values
6. Food without nourishment
7. Power without fairness
8. Facts without rigor
9. Degree without erudition
10. Militarilism without fortitude
11. Progress without civilization
12. Complication without depth
13.Fluency without content
14. Religion without tolerance (Most importantly)
I love all of them.
15. Love without kindness (mine).
Skin in the game
Thanks!!!
Sorry, what does 4 mean? Change without aesthetics?
Rule #1 is the best definition of success I’ve ever heard.
I dunno, my 18 year old self was an arrogant know-nothing. Not sure he's the one I want to seek approval from.
@@thomasvanorman3963 - hopefully that arrogant know-nothing 18 year old would be well & truly impressed that you are now neither arrogant nor a know-nothing.
@@thomasvanorman3963 heard a better definition from Al Sharpton. Judge yourself by this: at your funeral, who will come? And what will they be able to SAY about you?
I used to be jealous of people in my younger years , but as ived aged ive seen people lose it all , nothing is ever what it seems and be grateful for what you've got , however little it may be !!
I love this man, his brutal honesty help improve my thinking in ways that will make me always grateful!
Which of his books are your favourite?) I read Antifragile and im not sure which other to start with
@@9OO. Antifragile is my favorite but if you start from the beginning of the Incerto you will feel the evolution of his thoughts.. You can read any book you would like to read because each book can stand alone.
Nothing to love about him. He is simply repeating ideas other people have said long time ago. I have read all his books, he is a freak.
he fat belly
I'm a big fan of Taleb, such a unique character.
He really changed the way I see life.
I love the way how Taleb sees the simple values of life that we all should to master and understand deeply in order to enlighten our thinking
“Take a heroic route to benefit others” Careful Nassim you might get a good reputation.
Good one!
I usually click away from these rule lists, we are inundated with this stuff, and pretty much all that can be said has been said already, but, glad I clicked on this one. Thought provoking points.....
thanks !
You know prescriptions from Gupta? You’ll like it.
Then you don’t watch list anymore.
@@GaminHasard k, Ill check out. Thanks.
Ditto. Was thinking the same!
Nassim is like your wise uncle who sits down next you with Arabic coffee and gives you pieces of advice to fix your life
صدقت
4:00 If something is nonsense, call it out. In the long run who need to trust you will trust you. Will make you more anti-fragile! Thanks Nassim.
Thank you Picking Nuggets
Fantastic. Especially point 6.
“For I have a single definition of success: you look in the mirror every evening, and wonder if you disappoint the person you were at 18, right before the age when people start getting corrupted by life. Let him or her be the only judge; not your reputation, not your wealth, not your standing in the community, not the decorations on your lapel. If you do not feel ashamed, you are successful. All other definitions of success are modern constructions; fragile modern constructions.”
― Nassim Nicholas Taleb, The Bed of Procrustes: Philosophical and Practical Aphorisms
I read his black swan many years ago. Amazing stuff.
Excellent described. Thank you, Nassim.
Taleb is an author to be revisited along the life.

Enlightening
great video - big fan of Nassim Taleb. Crtical thinking is getting diluted and modern media is making it harder to truly listen to your innerself.
thanks !
Awesome.. awesome video
Thanks 🤗
Sooo many nice, Incredible good 👍
At my age I seldom hear anything novel... most sage advise is similar. But dont read newspapers, and if you dont believe me read one from a year ago... that hit me. That is so true.
Perfect
great Video
thank you !!
excellent
我尊敬塔勒布,无论是思想的深度还是广度,对我的影响是深远,长久的。这就是生活中的随机,偶然一次的接触,使我的思想有了非线性的改变,再次向塔勒布先生表达一下感谢!
Magnificently drawn. The picture of the face turning to a lions’ head as a metaphore for ‘courage’ prompte me to this reaction. 1:31

One item added to Nassim’s things to avoid completely: Cynical without intellectual. This is also best describes Nassim:Cynical with intellectual.
Very insightful

Wow…. Thx for the elevation sir… just a little suggestion if I may, the black swan or all the book you wrote is hard for average ppl like us to read.. can u make it simpler? LolZz thx
Treat the doorman with lot of respect 💎
Thanks for your channel 🙏
Just one question. I don't get " Change without Aesthetics". isn't it "statics" ??
Thank you! I would say is "aesthetics" but i might have interpreted wrong!
Commendations for the work you put into making this video.
But I wonder what Mr. Taleb would think of his ideas being turned into an "11 Rules / How to" short video when he himself dismisses such short-hand quick-to-digest knowledge in his essay Antifragile, and when his own website prohibits others from giving him titles like the Sunday Times did by naming his book as one of the 12 most influential books since WWII (mentioned in the video's description).
CZcams is CZcams, and clickbait evidently works, but as he himself put it at 2:02 of this video: "For almost all people I have met, external, and not internal, success came with an increase in fragility."
Taleb❣️❣️
What product or service does society want?
You become the one who delivers it to society and deliver at scale. Be patient until society needs you
Become great at something via your Specific knowledge, Knowledge that only you know
Comes out of your hobbies and passions
You are more likely to have skill sets in these sectors (before society figures out how to train others)
Brand - develop reputation
Take on accountability w the brand
Become really good at SOMETHING where u are uniquely qualified - build brand by giving away free stuff
The most powerful brands in the world are individual: Trump, Oprah, Cher, Naval, Madonna
Must have Leverage - critical
Humans are not evolved to understand leverage
We are wired to be one for one - input = output
Leverage is multiplier effect
Diff kinds of leverage:
Labor - oldest form of leverage (not a great one in the modern world)
Capital - money - this is a god one
Products that have no marginal cost of replication Brand new form (code, books, media) - media presence
Thanks Naval!!
Surely the best way for Americans to live resilient lives would be to act collectively to create an efficient, all-inclusive national health system, to ban military weapons being held by private individuals, and to restrict gun ownership generally. Every other civilized nation managed to do that long ago. If they did those things, a lot of resilience would immediately be built into their existence at very little cost and they could think about more creative and productive topics, as befits a rich, advanced nation.
1 Rule
Impulse Control
STOP before Act
How... Number one...
Rule #12: Support all people who failed with all means because they followed your rules.
First rule could be called would the boy I was be proud of the man I am. Heard that years ago and it made sense. Rules are hard to live by.
Grear
Virtue is insapbrable from
Taleb is like an old sage placed in the modern world
Huh, that doesn’t make any sense.
I mean almost nobody is that wise anymore
Is there attribution for Naval Ravikant's quoting Taleb? Doesn't seem consistent with what I have read of him.
“I am, at the Fed level, libertarian;
at the state level, Republican;
at the local level, Democrat;
and at the family and friends level, a socialist.
If that saying doesn’t convince you of the fatuousness of left vs. right labels, nothing will.” - Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Skin in the game
The Osho quote at the end was just off putting, really!!
Rule Nr. 12: „read my foreword in the first edition of the Bitcoin standard and BUY Bitcoin as long as it’s possible“
Where is this audio from? Is it from a speech or podcast?
From speeches!
I included all sources in description and also at the bottom right corner of the screen
Religion with tolerance is best
İm 26 and broke every rule. Life can be hard
To courage I must ask that you consider Curiosity. When you lose being curious over the passions that drive you in your life, you are on the decline. I love life, but only because I stay curious about it all.
I wonder how you could manage copyright claims. I guess that some people will still try to claim them and harrass you however hard you may try use the clips under fair use through synthesizing and preparing personal reflections etc., 🤔
Can somebody elaborate why he suggest not to read newspaper
3/5
Rule no. 1>>>>
Fat Tony is back
SVB and it’s super rich VC and startup business just got billed out and violated rule 8, they r happy and kicking… faaaakkk
5:59
Rule one; call everybody who disagrees with you, an idiot on social media.
07:35 be communist, socialist, libertarian, federalist and so on based on the circle you're in
Attention Government: “You should own your Risks”
I am 18yo rn, I feel so lost 🤷♀️
Everyone do!
You are assuming that we all live in average countries and that we were average students . This only applies to people who don’t have much expectations of life. They can never disappoint themselves . A typical human in a developed country will inevitably feel like a failure . That’s a permanent human condition
Don't disappoint your 18 year old self 👍
Me: 18 year old dude🙂
I'm trying hard to not disappoint me!
Avoid things that bore you?
I guess OnlyFans and TikTok girls/women don't ever take a courageous, honorable heroic route, one could say they took the easy way out for money.
Jesus teaching do unto others what you want others do unto you. We have something to do positively.
Yes some ppl don't want to tell what they need to do. They don't want to be commanded.
I would put him in the second or third tier alongside maybe Jordan Peterson and Naval Ravikant. They are above self help authors and pop psychology one offs. They aren’t saying horrible things, and great for some specific circumstances, but I hesitate to call them pinnacles of wisdom.
Rule 12) when you see good content, like and leave a comment. 😅
