I visited this museum earlier this year. It was truly a spectacular museum. Huge, too, and they change out their displays on a semi-regular basis. Plan a visit if you can. It doesn't disappoint.

The self-leveling hydraulic suspension was applied to the rear only in this model. Starting from the Spirit/Spur gas springs were also incorporated.
The hydraulic suspension, licensed from Citroen, was used only on the rear of all Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars of the period.

I love the hand built craftsmanship of the older Rolls Royce cars, but I can’t understand why someone would spend so much money on a car that is famously finicky and unreliable, insanely expensive to repair, and loses about 75% of its value after just a few years of even light usage. Truly the white elephant of cars.

Well she certainly had good taste. I would think that all that lead in the car would be hard on the transmission. J. Edgar Hoover used to ride around in an armoured Cadillac limousine and those who rode in it said it really dragged along due to all the extra weight from the armour.

they are the best cars until time and mileage adds up. they dont hold up that well over time but if you have the money, you fix them... and fix them you will.

The vinyl roof is very unfortunate. The interior, while great in luxury, is laughable in technology. I mean the tiny, bulky TV and all that gear under it. Does it have a god damned TAPE DECK? That's really pathetic. I had a "MAgnificent 7" 1998 E 38 BMW 740iL, on which the next Gen Rolls (the Seraph) was based, and it had a tape deck too, amazingly, but also a 7 CD changer, Factory Navigation, and a ton of other stuff this car does not have. On the positive side, I like the two benches facing each other in the rear, but I would hate driving the car, with the damned partition not allowing me to adjust the driver's seat much. Frankly, if this was not Whitney Houston's ride, I would not care at all about it. ANd it must weigh more than an elephant, with all that extra weight, while the HP should be really low, as it was in all these RR engines (barely 200 HP!)
You don’t get it mate, these cars were hand built and fitted out totally to the purchasers specs, if there’s no tape deck or whatever them the purchaser didn’t require it. So your whole post rambling on about the comparison of the production built BMW where every customer gets the same is pointless, also this Rolls is built purely as a luxury limousine and not as a high performance sports sedan so the 200 hp is more than enough to move this beautiful vehicle with adequate performance. For your information, the first BMW to receive GPS was in 1994, this was the E38 7 series, which is 6 years after this car was built. Also it wasn’t until into the 90,s that flatscreen TV became available hence the bulky TV. This Rolls is 38 years old and understandingly some of the technology in it is looking very outdated now.

The mineral oil is for seperate front and rear brakes master cylinders, and not for suspension as it’s totally enclosed. I own, and have owned 12 Rolls-Royces, and you are definitely wrong. The car takes hours to lower in the rear, and not to lower to make easy to get in the car. You should learn more about what you are attempting to explain!’

More and more, Rolls-Royce Was coming out with colors that did not go all that well with red but black was more universal and thus the change!!. Nothing to do with Springfield either! Did anyone else notice when he called the decanter "glass crystal"?.? Nice car just the same. I still prefer my Cloud II body style over the newer square looking models though.
