I my self at the age of almost seventy, having only just been reassured of my Jewish Heritage, have found the transition back to the Jewish Way objectionable to my other family members, none the less I have and will continue to be brave and be the best Jewish woman I can be.

I'm nowhere close to 70, so the family members with objections are the same ones whose grandparents ran from pogroms rather than give up their heritage. It's sad, but that anti-semitism worked. They forgot how to keep kosher, how to pray, how to do tefillin, etc. Maybe this is what Judaism needs right now: a younger, more energetic crowd to make sure the torch gets passed in this relay race through time.

Rabbi, Thank you for bringing up this issue. Here's my take on it. For example, if you step foot in Israel today, you'll see that more people than you think are craving Torah. This includes those Jews whom we call 'Masorti'...traditional. The Torah they crave does not emanate from the reform or conservative movements. They do in fact crave an authentic Torah...in all its totality and vitality. But it has to be the Torah of 2019...ie the Hebrew year 5779. And it has to come in "packaging" designed for the year 5779. There's even an element of Israeli society that is now blending, at the very least stylistically speaking, the Torah of 2019 with the Torah of 135 A.D. (Something our prophets and sages spoke about.) But one thing is for certain: those same people do NOT want the packaging of the 1700s or 1800s. Because these supposedly "secular" Jews, complete with their very healthy neshamas, understand subconsciously (or maybe even consciously) that it is the packaging of the exile...which has been over, at least on a physical level, for roughly a century. It is a packaging that does not seek to deal with the present nor the future (Once again, in an honest and authentic way. Not watered-down.) Instead, it seeks to simply sweep the present realities under the rug...all the while wondering why their youth fall by the wayside en masse...while they themselves are seen as irrelevant relics , thereby making the Torah seem that way by extension. And as we all know, the Torah is neither irrelevant nor a relic.
Praying there will be a Rabbi soon that follows through with God's plan. Others have visited me, but Antisemitism still present in America.
