I'm kind of at the point where I know love is the right answer but I think I will go fame. Here's why. I think love is super important in life but I don't sit around thinking about how much I love my family. I don't have time for that. I am currently running XC and track in HS and want to be known in the HS running community for what I do. My peak accomplishments have been winning JH XC state meet and being ranked the 5th freshman in the nation during track season for the 2 mile. I'm going into sophomore year. So being good at this will help me be well known in that regard. I want to keep growing as a person to reach that goal, that's why fame is a tempting choice.

That way, people would have to play the Sneak Peek without knowing which idol they are on a team with. I don't think that would help much in this particular Splatfest, unless Frye got Team Love in a randomized systedm, and if they don't start picking better more balanced choices there will always be one team being super popular, but it might help equalize things both by making the players choose based only on the theme and by giving any idol the chance to be the winning team no matter the options.

As someone who isn't aromantic, I would still pick team money. You already covered how money can fulfill one's basic needs in order to survive but I feel as though you're underselling just how powerful money can be. Money is the universal language of making exchanges. Just about every product and service, whether it's a need or a want, can only be exchanged for with money. It's not selfish to want things. Aspiration is a completely natural feeling and money can be used to achieve it. You can use money to attend a university and gain the qualifications you need to find your dream job. Or you can start your own business and hire people with the skills needed to make your dreams a reality. You can use money to move to another country where the standards of living are better. Many people don't even have loved ones to provide for. It's perfectly okay to focus on improving your own life above all else, and money is one of the biggest deciding factors in whether that's even possible.

Love will be more popular than money for sure. If you want to be in the winning team of a fest for the first time, do not pick money. Last 2 fests had love the mos popular team compared to money
This is based on the popular team has more chances of winning fests.

Time to get good at drawing hearts on the map with various weapons. Brushes are obvious and easy, but gonna need to practice some back-ups with other weapons for when I get bored of brushes. Preemptive apologies to my Team Love teammates, because in mirror matches, all I will be doing is drawing hearts. Sure, I will try to draw bigger hearts to take the most turf, but it's going to be all about drawing hearts. And once I reach Ruler, I'll probably keep up the same gimmick in regular non-Tricolor matches (unless it's a 10x, 100x, or by some miracle 333x, in which case, I'll actually try for the sake of my teammates). 😅

Based on its original Japanese context, Gear/Grub/Fun was supposed to be in the context of being sent, alone, to vacation on an island for a few days (or as long as you wanted), but you could only bring one of those three things. So you could have comfortable sleeping and living with gear, good food rather than whatever you can forage from the island, or stuff to just have more fun while you're there at the expense of those other comforts. There were times where Nintendo described the Splatfest like this. However, they never made it clear in-game, and NoA Twitter even described it as survival at times, if I remember correctly. But it was definitely stated through official channels (that very few people saw) that you could freely leave the island.

I play in Japanese. It was framed around survival in Japanese, too. People were meme'ing things like, "I will die anyway, so I'll just have fun." The idols talked about survival. In fact, just to be sure, I looked up the official twitter posts. The art spread post very clearly talks about what would help them survive. "Tools are useful to survive" and "I wouldn't be able to move without food" and "Without things to play with, I couldn't bare it".

Nessie is just disproven. Aliens will never be disproven since the universe is too big. Or they could have restricted aliens to Martians or aliens who have landed on earth.

But then again, that revolves around appreciation- which is of course, Love. Plus, what would be the point of your work connecting with people if you could never hear stories of it making people happy, or bringing them something to Love?
Even as an Aro/Ace the term "Love" is the clear-cut correct choice. Love isn't just romance, it's appreciation and genuine human connection. Team Fame just feels like it was created to funnel out aspiring Zoomer influencers.

I agree with you on love, but don’t be so quick to assume how the voting will go. On 10/31/15 in the JP “Love v. However, there are far more JP players than Western players, and this theme is still ALL NEW to the EU & HK regions, so we don’t know how they’ll vote.

Too much of it and too less of it can determine who we are ^^ Also idk why but kids also have just wanted to be famous a lot. Either by being who they want to be or just to be around the world. To show ppl how good they are at what they do. Maybe that’s why Frye picked fame? Seeing as how she’s kinda underrated in terms of being an idol, maybe she just wants representation (south Asian rep is kinda not that big anyways) but that’s just my take ^^

It's interesting that Gem completely discarded the idea that people have different motivations, in a video about how people have different motivations. While he accepts that people persue love for love's sake, he just brushes aside the motivations of
    1) Fame for fame's sake; some people are motivated by the idea of being "immortal", separate from wealth and love. Becoming so famous that their name is spoken and their work is remembered long after they're gone. There are plenty of famous people for whom money and family are a distant second to ensuring they are never forgotten.
    2) Money for money's sake; come on, you can't tell me there's not a sizable portion of people who treat their bank account like a high score. It's literally tearing the world apart that some of these people manage to float to the top, discard everything else in the chase for more and more, long after they've gathered more than they could spend in a lifetime. You can't tell me the Elon Musks, Mark Zuckerbergs, Jeff Bezoses of the world are doing it for their families, because they had enough for their families billions of dollars ago.

Snacks, although mostly unhealthy, can count as "fun" and provide nutrition.

However most people who will play the splatfest already expirience a satisfactory amount of love so when given the choice of love or money you'd radder get money instead of love because if you already have a family and stabblished friendships it's better to have more money to spend with them than more friend added to the ones you already have

This is the problem with having 3 options. In S2, you could get away with one side having over 60% of the vote and the other having 33% of the vote and still make a comeback, but here, the playerbase is split way harder, so any side with less than ~25% of the vote is kind of screwed.

  • @23h9ubsn31dd
    @23h9ubsn31dd Před rokem +2

The theme is "what is the most important," not "what do you want." In our current society, I would consider money more important than love for an individual. Money allows one to purchase healthy foods, have running water, get proper healthcare, and own a climate controlled house. All of these help and individual live a longer life. Love might be able to get an individual these things, but that relies those who love the individual to spend money to give the individual said items. Love has no tangible benefits other than fulfillment to an individual much like fame, but all of these focus on the individual. For humanity as a whole love would be more important. Again focusing on our current society, love leads to relationships which leads to children. humanity ceases to exist if children stop having been had. Sure children can be made without love, but that is ethically questionable to say the least. With all of this having been said, I believe that this splatfest is evenly matched between money and love (but not fame) depending on how someone understands the question.

I partially agree with you. I think while this one it's pretty easy to rationalize love as the correct answer, it's not nearly as straightforward as it was for gear. You also have to remember that a lot of splatoon's audience is on the younger side and they might think "love icky" or "love cringe" and not yet understand the downsides of fame. Despite what you said, plenty of people seek fame for it's own sake. And most people understand the power of money and fewer realize how after a point it stops bringing you more happiness.
While your arguments are well reasoned I just don't think nearly as many people will think that hard about this one.

The problem is that the question is "Whats the most important thing in life" which objectively no matter how you look at it is money and will probably forever be the most important thing because its something every single person needs. love is not essential in life but it has benefits but money is needed to do the most basic things and to survive even. Its why i also hated the Nessie vs aliens vs Bigfoot splatfest because the question wasnt "which do you prefer" it was "which is most likely to be real" which is Aliens because aliens existence is simply a theory while the other two are undeniably not real in the perceived version of what they should be/what the question was asking.

It's funny because the Gear-Grub-Fun Splatfest is the result of translators incorrectly translating the question. As I understand it, in Japan they asked what you would like to bring to a deserted island but within the context that you're going there for an afternoon or for a day before you go back, something like a mini vacation, one where it might even be assumed you have all the basic supplies covered but you get the chance to bring something extra and use it to spend your time there. Because it was translated incorrectly and the question in the west became about survival and not about just spending leisure time anymore, Gear became the correct choice.
This one though. This one is decidedly worse. Anyone not picking love is setting themselves up to lose. The amount of mirror matches that Love will get is gonna be insane.
