Lemuria Hub is besides the crater, which itself is the central vent (the "hole") of Mount Fuji, which became a volcano at some point during the apocalypse. We know this because the map of Inkadia and The Splatlands from the interview named several actual Japanese geographical features in the Japanese version of the interview. So no, the area was never on the ocean floor.

So interesting how people tried to explain things in the past, with their limited understanding the idea that there was a land bridge that sunk makes a lot of sense! I wonder that we'll look back on 70 years from now with a similar "they couldn't have known" situation 🤔😄

I always get a kick out of how its usually jellies in the background, probably because they're sized up like mario kart, so inklings would look way off proportion wise

I have no clue why, but i have this weird feeling whenever i play this map. Like something feels up. It isnt a new map thing or a layout thing bc i remember falling in love with romen instantly and I loved skipper pavilion. Maybe its the lack of colors??? Idk man

Its such a weird map. I can't decide if I like it or am 'eh' about it. I feel like battling in mid is actually a mistake, you can't cover much when you're in the thick of things. You pretty much have to play between mid and Spawn where you have some high ground and there's less of a chance of being rushed. Backlines are going to thrive on this map once they figure out how to deal with the weird geometry

It’s so fun growing up in new age/occult stuff and finding references later in life. I have many “lemurian seed” crystals and seeing the new stage threw me straight back to conversations about lost worlds. Is it true? Are they real? Idk, but silly squid game map made me lol

What's even weirder is that Lemuria Hub is roughly 10,000km away from Lemuria. The train station is next to The Crater, which is right beside Splatsville. But Splatsville is canonically in Kanagawa, Japan, just 50km southwest of Tokyo.

I like the lack of that one unpainteable wall with the sponge in splat zones, makes the map so much more open. Having played this on only turf and rainmaker that wall has become the bane of my existence as it does nothing for anyone. Truly should not be there.

My favorite feature of the stage is the three posters that mimic the NYC subway posters for The Lion King, Wicked, and Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

Explorers of previous centuries were already pretty fond of inventing lands that had no scientific basis. But, the complication is that there are notable examples of landmasses that have been submerged under sea level, so the idea itself is not a crazy one.

So by this logic, the in game Splatoon society had to have discovered these ancient manuscripts and, using the old map, pinpointed it's location, seeing it's above water, and were like "well, the land is back. We'll call this Lemuria in honour of the human race. And for good measure they built a train station through it to further honour what the land "used to be". Our Inklings and Octolings do be living in a society, and I envy them.

There actually IS a single spot on the map where the devs accounted for right-side peeking, but it's only on Turf War: The small rectangular uninkable block that sits on the wall above the ramp into mid from spawn is slightly adjusted differently on each side. Why they did this for specifically this block and nothing else, I have no clue. Kinda funny though.
